Hi everybody

I'm looking for a reputable repairer in the Birmingham area to sort out a few issues with my range of B&O kit.

Otherwise I don't know if anyone can suggest easy fixes to this list of problems!:

(1) Beocenter 9500 - bottom panel has become unstuck and has lifted slightly rendering the touch sensitive controls a little difficult to use.

(2) Pentas Mark I - need total overhaul (if economic to do so)

(3) Pentas Mark III - one of the bottom control panel doors won't click back into place

(4) BV8 - 40 - I can't seem to get the apple PUC to work properly since I reinstalled everything following a house move - it sends multiple/repeat commands to the Appletv which causes it to lock up.  The unit works ok with the apple remote

(5) Beosound 9000 - major league quirks!  When it's first turned on it doesn't seem to recognise the CDs and goes into 'pause' mode.  If you keep pressing play on different CDs (#4 being my favourite!) it will eventually start playing, and then happily play all the CDs as if there was never a problem.  If occassionally it does play the first CD (after a couple of pauses) it will more often than not just play the first track before moving onto CD2, where it will most often play normally.  Sometimes however, just to wind me up I'm sure, it will persist with just playing the 1st track of each CD.  I vaguely remember this type of problem mentioned on this forum in the past, but I can't find anything on searching just now.   Needless to say I've tried cleaning the laser lens and the two sensors which run down the side of the unit without noticable improvement.  This unit suffered from this problem when new and the dealer updated some software (I think) and i never had the problem again until I moved the unit to the new house a few weeks ago.  Bizarre!

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Hi - did you ever find a solution for the beosound 9000? I've got very similar similar issues with mine and am also Birmingham based. Would be interesting to know if you found a decent engineer to service it.

The Beosound 9000 problem you have highlighted is almost certainly going to be a laser fault. You will need to get the laser assembly replaced.

Regards Keith....

They use an outfit called Specialised Services,  based locally. I have no experience of them and so am weighing up using them or an independent specialist I've seen recommended on here.  Key for me is to get a proper quality job and genuine and up to date parts. I also want them to check the whole unit as the carriage suspension might need adjusting. Finally, if there are any updates since 2004 I'd want to get those applied too. The unit is out of warranty, so the dealers have no stake... which could be a good OR a bad thing to be honest.

Hi Keith, would running the focus tests on my mk3 bs9000 yield a definitive answer on the laser? If so, whats the magic button to press? Thanks!

Hi

Yes - it did indeed need a new laser.

I got Iconic AV to do it.  They seemed good people and did it at a competitive price, including delivery and reinstallation back home (although I did originally drop the unit off at their premises).
