Dear members,

I have acquired some Beocom 2000s. Nice phones. However, there apparently wasn't a norm concerning the cables back in the day. Therefore, most current cables don't work. Any ideas where I can still acquire matching cables for the Beocom 2000, preferably also longer ones (but no longer than 10 meters)?

Greetings,

Kai

Which cable are you looking for ? The coiled handset cable or the lead from the phone to the socket ?

Not familiar with the 2000 but you can either salvage them from an older style phone or get them in big diy outlets.

I mean the lead from the phone to the socket. Yes, I already acquired some from other phones. However, they are all pretty short. I know that B&O has manufactured cables for these phones. I haven't found a current cable yet that seem to work with these phones. What are do-it-yourself outlets?

Big hardware shops that sell paint wood garden plumbing wiring etc.

Long leads (were) should not be a problem unless b and o had unusual terminations.

As long as there is an RJ11 plug in the telephone end it should be good

Unfortunately, as far as I know it isn't. There was no standard back in the day and various types of cables are around without any visible difference. Neither optically (without dismantling the plugs of course) nor terminologically. Most nowaday cables won't work! It has something to do with the pin assignment. Is there anybody how knows for sure?

Greetings,

Kai

You can buy a rj11 plug crimper for about 25 euros or less and usually has a few plugs with it. If you look carefully at the plug you can see the colors. Its normally the center pair that matter. Normally 4 wires and you offer them into the plug in the order they are presented. The worst you can do is put the plug on upside down.... but it often works.(Except for BT phones to rj11)
