So the BL17 appears to be eol. A pitty. Will B&O launch a new speaker for these in short time which can be used in a 5.1 configuration?

Otherwise what is your advice to use in a 5.1 config with my bv eclipse with current bl6000 and bl11?

Beofan with current setup Beovison Eclipse 55, Beosound 35, Beolab 6000, Beolab 11, Beoplay A9 Mk4, Beoplay E6

Well you can still get them for now. Although they are eol, but i you did they would be front speakers for your scenario and you could ditch the bl11 and the bl17’s outperform those on their own.

Hi Mikidia

Currently I have the Bl6000 as front and no rear. My idea was to use the bl17 as rear because the can be wireless connected. Is that smart ?

Well, it works obviously and it’ll be an improvement, but you’d be putting your best speakers at the back where they do the least. It’s up to you, but i personally would put the 6000’s in the back if you have 17’s.

There are not so many choices these day if you want new speakers. The BL17 are great speakers and if you can justify the looks I would put them in the front with no doubt.

If you go used, BL3 are one of the best surround speakers in terms of size, placement options and price. Even they will outperform the BL6000.

I have a pair BL3 in the back and BL4 as hights. Which brings you to an other option, BL4 as ceiling speaker as there is a cailing mount available as well. As speakers on floor level they are the least attractive and performing speakers from my point of view of all BL active speakers.

An underrated option is to go with two Beolab 7.4, they are quite powerfull and on the level of the BL3 and they are quite cheap (in the 100 Euro ball park and sometimes they come with a Beovision 7-32 free of charge..), may be the best bang for the buck.
