Does anyone have a suggestion for replacement audio cable for the H6 as the one that that is supplied with the headphones is 1) to short when used at home and 2) has a remote which I'll never use. Something like this; but which saddly doesn't look to fit the socket on the headphones:
The supplied cable would be the reason why I do not want to buy this otherwise excelent headphone.

There is a tv - and there is a BV
For any B&O cable I always ask Steve at 'Sounds Heavenly' - bottom of the Beoworld pages. If you tell him what you want, he can normally make it for you or will have something already in stock.
Dave.
I requested this already from Steve at 'Sounds Heavenly' some time ago, but he did not have a solution. He said maybe in the course of the year. Maybe good to ask again.

That's a joke, right?
symmes: That's a joke, right?
Well, no. The 4-pin connector of the supplied cable does not work correctly with most headphone amps which typically have a 3-pin socket, and the socket of the headphone itself is too small to connect a standard aftermarket 3-pin cable instead.
So the H6 is fine with an iDevice, but does not work with most high quality headphone amps. So it is pretty useless for non-mobile applications.
I fail to understand why B&O does not provide a choice of 4-pin (with mic/remote for mobile applications) and 3-pin (for hi-fi applications) cables in the box, like e.g. B&W does with the P5.
There are adapters to convert from 4 to 3 conductor plugs. I've got one that goes from the 4 conductor mini plug to a standard 3 conductor 1/4 inch headphone plug. Or just make one yourself.

I'm afraid I'm recovering from the BeoVirus.

That is a bad workaround as I'm looking for a clean cable without the remote mumbo jumbo... So not what I'm looking for.

But it's a BeoPlay, therefore it is designed for that end user. For a more sophisticated listener who uses a headphone amp but might like the H6, like yourself, there is an aftermarket. Isn't it nice that the BeoPlay cable is a quick connect/disconnect?

The H6 is a very good headphone. It shines with a good source more than it will ever do with an iDevice. It may be marketed for mobile applications, but it is designed to do more/better than that.

Of course it is. The problem is that the socket on the headphone is too small for an aftermarket cable.
Is this what you are looking for? Hope it works.
Cheap. Might need to pay more for high altitude, assembled by elves, or blessed by Pope version. ;-)

If you're that picky, I'm betting you go thru life disappointed and irritated a lot.
@1983beo - could you explain that a bit?
Does it mean the you can extend the existing cable in order to make it longer - or does it mean that you could use it instead?
Well, just for the fun of it I did do some searches at eBay and found one seller now from China who has a nice replacement cable for the H6 in various lenght (1.2m to 3.0m) and... wait for it... no microphone/remote on the cable.
Direct link to this item.
Interesting - please let us know if it is good.
I bought an extension cable for mine, but this would be a better solution.
Just ordered 1.8 meters cable and it most likely will take something like 8-20 days before it arrives from Hong Kong. But, I'll keep you posted. But, I do think that this replacement cable will do the trick and the seller do also sell replacemnt for Sennheiser and AKG headphones and so far no negative feedback.
Interested reading, indeed. Do any of you know if this will be an issue with the new headphones as well, the H2?
Roger
Boy, you guys are teasing
But you might be right - Tue mentioned to me at the General Meeting in Struer this year, that more headphones were in the pipeline.
N.B. Don't ask for details ---- (of course) he did not tell more about them.
BeoGreg:Don't know about the H2, but the sheep told me the H8 will be wireless so no cable issue
makes sense as they've given the nod to Bluetooth technology, any ideas when wireless cans might be released ?
we tend to forget there is more to design than designing.
just been doing some research and there seems to be a campaign brewing....
Let's have a pic of the backside as well, please

Got the cable today and it looks quite nice and was very well packaged. But, when trying out a few tracks with high pitch and high frequencies I get the impression that the cable do have negative impact on the audio. Might be placebo effect so need to try a bit more and have some one else to change the cable without me seeing it. But, the treble seems to be slighly cut off. Tracks which have an almost painfull hight frequency intros now sounds a bit flat.
Thanks for sharing. I'll keep on waiting until you can rule out the placebo effect before I place an order. I do prefer the H6 over the H2 and H8, and the Bluetooth-option is of little relevance to the BV10 I'll be using the headphones with - but I do need an extention cable...
Did some additional testing and one track where it's really clear that this cable isn't up for the jobb is when playing Dancehall Queen from Robyn's Body Talk album. The intro has a quite high pitch sound which is cut of and sounds flat. So guess that they've been using really low quality wire for the cable.
I've send the seller some feedback and questions regarding the cable; so let's see what they come back with. Then again, it's a cable for £10, so I'm not going to put that much efforts into this. Let's they might try to improve the quality of the cable and happy to pay additional few pounds for that.
If anyone of you guys are located in the Cph/Mlm region; let me know if you want to test the cable to get some additional ears to try it out.
Dear Community Friends,
I've today received an email from B&O customers services that there is now a replacement cable available for the H6;
"Dear Mr Haverblad,
Thank you very much for that info.
I guess a lot of H6-users will be happy with that.
Many thanks for the update. I'm sure they won't be 10 GBP but the quality should be as B&O intended. 2.5 metre length is just about right for TV watching for those that can still connect their headphones to the TV!
Reading the post from Steve at Sounds Heavenly, it beggars belief that B&O have removed this facility from new TV's in the range.
"You think we can slap some oak on this thing?"
I paid AU$44 for a "long cable" which turned out to be (a) black and (b) minus any controls and (c) does not propogate the existing signals through.
All of which is a disappointment.
It was in a nice little BeoPlay package - and its texture is much nicer than the average cable one buys from electronics stores.
Did I end up with a generic B&O extension cable instead of a specialised H6 extension ?
BeoNut since '75
I use my H6 mainly, when I am listening to music from the headphone-output of my BeoMaster.
They are too heavy and too big for on-the-go.
For this the H2's are perfect.
The 2,5 meter cable is just right for in-house-listening.
Note: No need to ask your dealer - you can not get this cable in other colours!
This is the cable, that they should have supplied with the H6 (with different colour options).
The one with the remote should have been the optional choice - IMO.....buy that, if you need it!
Just realized that I gave my picture a wrong filename.
It is not an 'extension cable'!
The correct name would be 'replacement cable''.
Or simply 'H6 headphone cable'.
Anyway - you can see that by looking at it
It is definitely designed for the H6.
The problem with other similar cables was, that they don't fit in to the headphone.
The plugs are smaller.
What pi**es me off is, that I have to use a dark cable with my natural leather H6.
For the price they charge, they should offer more colour-options.

Hi MM,
I tried to order the H6 replacement cable (2.5 meter without remote) from my dealer, but he was confused and unable to identify this cable in his product list.
He suggested product ref. 1973722 but he was not sure at all.
Could you please verify the correct product reference on your own packaging and confirm? That would be much appreciated.
Many thanks

Hi elephant, do you have the same one as MM? In this case, before I order one myself, could you please confirm what you mean: is this cable degrading the signal and the audio quality? Which sort of degradation are you hearing? Many thanks for the clarification.
By the way: MM, do you hear a signal degradation as well? Thanks to you too for you rfeedback.
The 2.5 meter cable without remote control has product number 1973722 and has type no 9737.
