Hi!
I have just bought a second-hand Beocenter 2 that was advertised as "spares or repair" having the following faults:
- After pressing LOAD the wings would open but the disc loader cover did not. After pressing LOAD the second time the disc loader opened and closed immeditately. I was able to fix this by following the suggestion in this old thread: took out and cleaned the drive belt with rubber restoring solution and now it works. Gotta love the wings opening and the cd tray illumination :)
- struggled to accept DVDs. Cleaned the lens with a cotton swab and IPA - was happily surprised to see the titles of my X-Files DVD showing up! Since that it has read all discs without any issues.
- DAB tuner not finding any channels. Not interested as we don't have DAB broadcasts in Finland :) Perhaps I should remove the module?
Now that most of seems to be working, I still have the following issues:
- The volume up/down ring struggles to work; it has one or two spots where it most likely responds but mainly I can keep rolling my finger around the ring with no response. The surface looks pretty much clean, but I will try cleaning it better. All other buttons work, but I feel like I need a bit more push than simple touch to work the keyboard, I can't say if it's normal as I have never used another BC2.
- The surface of the socket unit has a sort a soft-touch rubber finishing. In my unit something has happened to the surface coating and it has turned sticky. Apparently I am not the only one having similar issues. Any ideas on how could I clean it? I am not concerned if it won't look good, but I would like to get rid of the stickyness as it really collects all dust and even sticks to the floor!
- I am looking for the original table feet; posted a wanted thread here.
Thanks for ideas.

Hi Lausvi,
did you ever find a solution for this?
I put DCfix in matte black on the surface as a workaround.
But still want to know how to remove (not cover) the stickiness.

Hi Ralf.
No, the BC2 has been sitting on the self looking pretty for quite some time now... Haven't have time to work on it.
On a related note; I don't recommend wrapping the socket unit in bubble wrap for storage... (it really sticks well!)

looks like original :)
