It does indeed look like the stand is able to swivel around two points. The base and the stand. I guess it is viewable from 360 degrees then. Interesting approach... It also looks like the table stand is not round but a square.

The motorised stands and hinges have always been a B&O wow factor. I wouldn't mind betting that it is often the stand that swings the purchase over cheaper competition.

I do not think you can url-guess here. They know to put up a "404 not found". Actually there is a link from the Beolab 20 page to the Avant but it is not working. So we will have to wait...

It seems to have new Picture Modes such as Monitor with no engine processing whatsoever - will this cause input lag to be reduced to almost nothing?
No news yet about a built in Netflix or Plex app...

I'm not super hooked on the design. It is not simple enough somehow. I hope they will carry on the Beovision 11 line, that design has timeless potential.

Hmm, I'm a bit underwhelmed. I had great expectations, but I'm not quite sure I like the design as much as the BV11. But it might grow on me, who knows.
The center part of the speaker is not my cup of tea, but I think a bit of black paint could improve that. Movement is nice, but I feel the proportions of the BV7 + speaker bar are far better.
The floor stand indeed looks big. When at an angle it looks a bit strange, as the pole is not in the center of the floor plate. I understand that's how they can place the screen close to the wall, and still allow for a 90° rotation to both sides, but looking at the screen just feels unbalanced. Having read the manuals, you can control both axis separately, so I guess you could still build a viewing position which is at an angle but has the floor plate centered under the screen. I wonder if a simpler motorized floor stand will eventually be available, more BV7 style (and probably cheaper as well)?
The remote looks nice, probably even better in person. I just don't get why they have made it crooked?

I love the BV11/BV10, but not everybody loves the square shape. Plus you can't put in on a table/bench.
Coming from Beovision 11, there are a couple of things for me to get used to:
- on the floor stand, there is so much empty space below the Avant, especially when the TV is switched off.
I wonder if B&O or STBbrackets will produce a lower floor stand, similar to what BV7-55 had, with even a simple turning function and perhaps a manual tilt to suit the viewing angle. I'm not fond of the new table stand's design or function, as it allows no rotation. In my current livingroom, floor stand is the optimal placing option, but I might go for the fixed wall bracket with Avant. Upon first impressions, I consider wall placement as the most natural & best looking placement for this TV.
- the center speaker grille takes some getting used to (I don't find it elegant at all). A perforated aluminum grille in the middle part would have looked better, in my opinion — in the BL 7 / Beosound 1 fashion, with black and silver grilles as options.
Specs-wise:
- the speaker's frequency range starts from 60Hz. Is there info on the low frequency spec of Beosound 11 somewhere? I have to seriously listen to these speakers before making any judgement on the sound and a proper comparison to BV11.
- the UHD panel has a refresh rate of 100/120 Hz, as opposed to a 200 Hz panel on BV11. Has this been a cost-saving decision, or is the refresh rate less important on an UHD TV?
- contrast & luminance specs are the same as with BV11 (5000:1 and 450). UHD resolution propably helps with the vividness of color and certainly brings depth to the picture.
- it appears HDMI 1 might be up to HDMI 2.0 specification, as B&O recommends it for UHD sources. I'd like confirmation on this though. If there are no HDMI 2.0 compliant inputs, the Avant is not future proof, but I doubt B&O would have overlooked this.
The Avant will be an interesting TV to get familiar with, but I do not see it as a "design TV" in the same way as BeoVision 5 / 9 / 10 and 11 are. It's more of an ordinary TV in the looks department — until you turn it on.

But I can't help but wonder if they can develop a whole new chassis, stand, remote etc. put a 4k panel in it, WISA and all the moving speakers etc. for a price of £5,995 (ex stand) surely it would've made far more commercial sense to simply upgrade BV11 - 55 with a 4k panel (already has the WISA etc) and they could've dropped to the price to below £5k (already have invested in assembly line etc so economies of scale at play). That would've rocked the market (and they need the market buzzing). Yeah, they would've p'eed off existing BV11 owners who paid £3k more for a lesser product, but not much more than they are already annoying existing BV11 owners who paid £2k or £3k more than the Avant asking price (I'm one of them) There's simply not enough 'extra' to the Avant for me to make a business case for going to the extremes of developing a whole new product line when they could've simply upgraded the BV11 AND have really dropped the price point to close to mainstream.
I'm liking it a great deal.
It shades my V1-40 (which you'd most certainly expect) in terms of style, and to my mind in some ways eclipses the BV11 for a sense of classy style also, with the motorised floor stand, and the mechanical magic of the speakers dropping down and extending.
Probably the biggest attraction for me, is that for the size of the panel (55") in a 5 x 4 metre room in an apartment, the motorised stand frees up space beneath, such as to create a visual 'trick' that disguises the size of the panel and makes it appear to 'float' in the room - very much as the 7 series did.
From a viewing distance perpsective, 40" panel size is OK for SD material, but a bit small for HD material, unless sitting up reasonably close.
For HD material off Bluray, and sitting at around 3 metres back from the display as I do, a 52 -55" panel size is almost ideal.
However, the issue with a 52-55" panel is the sheer room dominating size of it when it's turned off - which is an aesthetic issue with such a panel size either on a cabinet, or in a square TV such as the BV11, when placed in such a relatively small room.
Conversely, with it's floating' look on the motorised stand, I can see the new Avant giving me the best of both worlds; superb picture, sound, and simple non room dominating aesthetics when not in use, and as such it wets my appetite for some new B&O 'toys' a great deal!

I do not understand your first question, but regarding the second question: The Avant has 3 mono speakers (Left, Center, Right) of which each can be configured seperately.
To be vague. Sort of like it. Like the shape, stand, 6 HDMIs, green display light, remote. Not sure about the speaker and where is the built in blu-ray?
Will wait for the MK2 in 6 months before I decide!!!!

The new Avant looks awesome when off, less impressive with the speaker on display, but your TV is mostly off :)

From what I understand the Avant is like the BV11 and V1, the surround processing and such is done internally to the set, no outboard processor needed.

I agree. And personally, apart from the odd documentary, or perhaps sport program, I don't really watch a lot of broadcast TV - I call it the national sedative.
If there's no sport I want to watch, or documentaries, I tend to watch movies, or watch natural history programs from YouTube etc, or listen to music.
For anything other than TV, I usually have the room dark, so I'd never notice the centre channel aesthetics most of the time anyway.
I also think it's going to look different in the metal than in photos, and again, aesthetics are always personal and subjective.
I like it a lot, but that's just me... :-)
