Ought to save a bunch not adhering to the previous MO of recasing panels!
I've just seen it in the flesh.
Remarkable was the fact that it doesn't look that big. Even for a 55" version.
The sound was impressive from the 8 speakers. There isn't any other (brand) flatpanel out there which sounds like this one.
So, the comment from one person "Oh, my Samsung is only 2-3 cm's thick", got me bored.
I think the Avant got his magic from all the moving parts. Very nice and smooth.
That's probably also a bit negative thing: the cables from sources connected to the internally placed system 4 has to be long enough for all the movement.
The included app's like Spotify, Deezer etcetera give me a growing feeling of appreciation.
It's the (my) first time that a beovision from B&O with LCD has a picture which could replace my plasma (BV9 mk3 FullHd).
Beside the 4K demo I've seen some daily broadcasting on the cable, just normal HD content. The 4K panel/System4 is quit capable to scale the HD content to it's native 4K resolution without artefacts. These demo's are impressive but not the most interesting. For me it counts how the system copes with colours from human faces. Faces on a BV10 e.g. looks like they sometimes are already dead.
On this panel they have pretty normal colours.
The new remote looks like a flat alu Beo4 mixed with the screen from a Beocom 5. Handles fine. It's a bit smaller than the Beo4 (it felt like that)
Just was at the presentation - hilarious product - best of B&O since many years - like the design and the features - will order tomorrow :-))
I also just came back from the demonstration. I'm mighty impressed. Not so much by the design (could do without the bright speaker grille...) but by the sound, the picture, and the good old fashioned magic. It's fun to watch the crowd drop their jaws once the floor stand gets past a certain angle I would regret it forever if I ever bought that with the manual stand! Also, don't worry about any uglyness revealing itself when rotated, even the rearside of the TV is clean.
Featurewise, it seems to have everything and more. You can connect six external sources with PUC control (new tables downloadable from the interweb). It is obviously prepared for WISA speakers, and you can connect 20 or so separate speakers to the TV
Price of the base TV (55") in Finland is 6995,- and I seem to recall all three motorized stand options are slightly over 1000 euros. I predict trouble keeping up with demand...

Do you know if the sensor on the upper right is "just" a sensor for VisionClear and the green light or can it show the volume, the source,..., like the BeoVision 7 ?
I'm not a fan of the design but I've spent the last 10 years covering a BV 7 so it's not surprising.
I've just watched Gravity as a demo and can confidently say I think the 7-55 is better. Sound was better than I expected, but my overall impression of the picture, was cheap and juddery. I guess at being 100 hz you might expect that.
Might just be being an old miserable git.
The remote on the other hand looks fantastic.

Didn't see anything except the green light on it, so I don't think so. VisionClear apparently has been extended to control the colour temp as well.
It's just a 360dgr lghtsensor with on/off indication.
Volume is only visible on the panel. The same with BV11 and BV12 with system 4.
BTW, the Beolab 20 sounds impressive! Better than the Beolab 9! Same size, but better.

Did not go, but I like what I have seen so far, apart from the speaker grill. The Avant is € 6.995 in the Netherlands too. Just might end up owning one

Some highlights I remember:
Saw a few short UHD movies, and it blew me away. Amazing picture!! If you think a bluray with 1080p can't get better, think again! ;)
The stand. It can have a 90 degree turn with only 20 cm of the wall. Very smooth movement.
The sound, Smart to get a woofer in the back.
A "Send to TV feature" from a Youtube app. Not new, because the BV11 has it too. But nice the Avant has it also.
Nobody mentioned yet this is the first TV that has Netradio built in. Makes the need for an audiomaster less wanted.
New remote makes the Beo4 dated...

I have just come home from the presentation at my local dealer.
Amazing! I really like the design - and with those moving speakers the magic, that has been missing in B&O products for years, is back.
The new remote looks good, although I like the feeling of the buttons on the old Beo4 better.
With a price way below the BV 11, I thing they'll have a hard time selling BV 11 if they do not adjust the price (the salesman agreed with that).
I hope this will be a big hit for B&O.
Not sure if anyone mentioned this, but the new Avant has locally dimmed panel lighting, like the BV7-55 (the BV11-55 is side lit, with clouding issues as a result).
I'll visit my dealer tomorrow for an Avant demo. I can't see how someone can dislike the Avant with the speaker up. It looks like a BV12 on a stand.

Raeuber:No, it's just a sensor with green/red light. Volume is shown on the screen, like BV 10/11. But with a 4K-source this doesn't work, volume is not shown. And you have to connect a 4K-source to HDMI 1, so you can only use ONE 4K-source. Not an actual problem at all, but maybe in future... The new Remote One is nice, but you have to clean the backside every day because of its shiny aluminium. For the new Avant you'll need this new Remote (and it's included), but no need to change Beo4 with older Beovisions. I don't like the design of the centre speaker too, but this is a personal taste. Just got back from the dealer demo . Very impressive sound from something so slim and generally lacking in bulk. New remote 1 seems too light in weight and the buttons are not spaced. The three presets seem good but where's the Rania button?

Chris Townsend: I thought disappearing speaker was totally pointless and not "magical" at all. The only redeeming feature for it, is that because the speaker resembles a Bose sound wave radio, it therefore needs to be hidden. Pointless and ugly, even in the eyes of my nine year old.
It is as 'magical' (and 'pointless') as the sliding doors on the old BC 9000/9500, -the glass doors on the Ouverture/2300/3000/3200, -the moving acoustic lenses in the car systems, etc. A lot of people like this, and feels it gives that 'extra touch' -that besides the design, shows that you have bought something special...That gives people a little joy everytime they use it.Maybe it's not up to your standards...but - they can not please everybody.
So I have seen it as well.
The good points are:
It looks small and light for a TV of that size. So it will fit well in medium size rooms.
The stand is great with its 2 axis of rotation. It's beautiful and it solve a real problem: a TV of that size would hit the walls when rotating without this feature.
It's a full feature TV, with HDR recording, Apps, etc... I don't think much is missing.
Sound is great and can drive wireless speakers. Some clever stuff like the bass adapt automatically when the wall bracket rotates away from the wall.
The beoremote one is just wow! Make the Beo4 look dated. Looks very elegant. I would have bought one straight away, but they're not selling them just yet.
The negative points are... the design of the TV is not very special. The fact that the speaker bar moves down is cool, but the design of the speakers is not very appealing.
The price point is good for a 4K TV. I am not sure that for a 55" TV there is much of a difference between HD and UHD.

Any news on when the Beoremote will be available to buy separately in the UK, and for how much?
On a side note, it seems that you won't need an audio system with that TV... You can get music from local HD, NAS, the net (Spotify, N.RADIO, Deezer), plus the Beoremote 1 allows you to access these sources directly.

I don't think hiding the sound bar is 'pointless'. I like the way you only see the sleek panel when the TV is off.
Just wait and see Moxxey. As for Steffan trying make make my opinion into something personal, on the Beosound 9000, the point of the doors opening really cooly was that.......you could then put in a disc. That had a point. The Bluray mechanism on my 7-55, it has a point.
If the stand could be used on the 7-55 I'd consider getting one, and the remote although feeling much lighter than the 4, feels up to date and of very good quality. Everything you want in a B&O product.

It's all in the eye of the beholder, Chris. They didn't have to make sliding doors or opening glass doors...they could just have made a drawer as all cheap asian manufacturers did...But they did something different. That's B&O. No - they don't have to make moving speakers -they could just make a plain boring tv like everybody else does. Or another version of the BV 10/11 with speakers underneath the screen... With all respect, sir:If B&O spend lots of money to develop these moving speakers - then it has a point! Journalists write about it. Some customers think it's cool. Whether You can see it or not.
I just came home from the shop demo. When I spoke on the phone with the shop the other day they told me that someone from B&O would be there to introduce the Avant at 7PM. Well, I never would have guessed the person who actually showed up to pull the curtain!
I captured a poor snapshot of the revalation and you might be able to recognize the person to the left on the image below.
Considering the TV was introduced in 500 shops today I felt pretty fortunate to step into this shop and shake the hand of Tue as the very first person. Quite surprising. But a nice surprise.
It was a fun experience being in the crowd listening to the comments from the people around me. "aaahhh", "whauvv", and so on. When the TV turned on first time it was very obvisous to me that people were impressed with the "revelation" part. No noise, very elegant rotation, so elegant and overwhelming that I think you could easily miss parts of it. I am not sure everybody notived the revalation of the speaker at all.
We saw the scene from Gravity where the debris makes it's first appearance. The picture was absolutely stunning. I could not help smiling when the lady next to me told her husband: "If you are not buying that TV, I am!"
That lady loved theTV from first sight - I wish my girlfriend could be there too, but I am afraid she would not be able to keep up with this lady's enthusiasm.
The audio was demoed both with the built-in speakers alone and from a 5.1 setup of 4 Beolab 18s, a Beolab 19 and the built in speakers as center.
Unfortunately for the wauv-factor I am pretty sure the Beolab 19 was completly powered off. No light at all from the front diode and very little low end. It didn't really spoil it for me - the audio from the center alone was very rich and clear and light years from competion.
So what would you tell Tue, if you had couple of minutes to chat after the demo. Well I told him that I was very impressed with the TV and that it will probably replace my BV7-40 soon. I also told him that I think this can be the real turning point for B&O. Considering the value you get in a TV like this. After all a Sony 4K 55" with similar panel also comes at a cost.
Overall I am impressed with the Beosystem 4 platform. It truly delivers something unique. Consider then that you get this TV for the price of the old Beosystem 3 alone. Then add the wireless speakers. Then speakers that are updated and reviewed very well also by audiophiles.
Finally I noticed that only the most stubborn trolls still survive to post the ususal B&O criticism. There is a clear change in the sentiment, at least on the sites I have visited today.
I think B&O can be very proud of their achievements here.
I was at the introduction today too. It was a very nice event and I enjoyed it very much. So much that I bought a Beovision Avant 55" on the spot, with the floor stand and an custom engraved Beoremote one. I am going to receive it this month probably. Good night, have to sleep :).

A few snapshots from the NY event. We didn't have Tue (he was here last month) but in attendance was Kathy Thornton-Bias, President of B&O/America. Very impressive new Beovision. On the walk home I passed by a Danish furniture store by the name of Jensen-Lewis and couldn't help but wonder what they would think of the new Avant.
at around $12,500 AUD its a well priced TV. Not sure if that includes any stand.

I'm also a bit pissed because I just bought a BV11 in November for much more money. I much prefer the looks of BV11 and I don't really care about 4K, but obviously I wouldn't have paid as much for it had I known about this upcoming TV. B&O also replaced Beolab 9 with Beolab 20, so my entire setup became obsolete in one single evening. I know it's still just as good as before, but you know what I mean.
I'll keep my BV11 and upgrade when B&O releases an OLED model. Image quality wise, OLED would be a huge leap forward.
