Daniel:

On the Avant, the XBox etc will hang on the TV itself. One of the back covers will be replaced with a grid on which the device will be hooked.

Ok, I see now why the heat concern.

If an Avant on a stand is very hot, how about an Avant on a wall ?

Good question!

The important part: "Most current TVs will struggle with the Phase 1 spec, never mind beyond that."

If you're a Sky or Virgin subscriber, your (new) box should decode the new format for you. And I doubt we'll get 4K Freeview any time soon! So, it doesn't affect the Avant too much.

Maybe not in the UK!

In Denmark most people are watching tv via the internal tuner (DVB-C - or T/T2 and a smartcart for the CI-slot).

That will be a massive problem.

I guess they/we need new tuners (for the H.265 decoding) - and I wonder if the current tuners can be easily replaced (and at which costs)? Otherweise a new tv is required Crying

Note: the H.265 codecs can be used for HD-material as well. 4K material will probably be rare - and will be extra charged (sport-events...).

The 'improved' compression of the H.265 will more likely be used for squeezing-in more programmes into the cables/via air (in whatever quality).

I doubt 4K transmissions will come to Sweden/Denmark soon. Most HD today on broadcast is just 720p anyway. But yes, issues will come with that of course.

I was replying to Chris, who is in the UK.

I do have a solution for you though. Move to the UK? Denmark is nothing compared to the undulating beauty of Northumberland. And the local pub. You know it makes sense.

Sorry for mingling.

But why so upset?

After all the BV's are originated in Denmark - and not just made for the UK.

By the way - we have lots of good beer here too - just come over to try it Beer

If Denmark is nothing compared to Northumberland, I can't tell - wasn't ever in Northumberland.

Probably won't go there either - could come across you 👻

I was trying to make a dry joke on the basis of moving to the UK, from arguably the top city in the world, Copenhagen. Voted the best place to live, for the second year running, by Monocle: http://monocle.com/magazine/issues/75/

The UK never makes it in to the top 25 locations to live in the world, never mind number one :)

Ironically I recently applied to Norwegian Airlines, and one of their options was living in Copenhagen. He'll yeah I thought.

Then we had some Danish crews in the other day and all things went Olufsen and how I'd like to move there. They were really opposed to it and said I'd be taxed to death. Can it be really any worse than here?

Every time I fly north of Hamburg I always put Billund in as our alternate. It's a hard sell to the first officers as to why we should divert so far north, but the idea of a road trip to a TV factory usually bowls the girls overUnsure

I traveled with them on the Dreamliner to the US and it was very nice. They had such a friendly crew. Never had that before. I was very pleasantly surprised. I wish I could travel some more this summer, but where? =)

If it's the TV factory you're after you shall head south of Munich. ;-)

And you will probably see more B&O in Copenhagen than in Struer.

There you would only see some grey buildings and the headquarters (from the outside).

I shall wander off topic with you all :-)

@moxxey - I am lucky enough to live in a city that has made it to number one position of "world's most liveable cities" a couple of times, and in a country that is in the top 10 happiest countries index together with most of Scandinavia and the Netherlands.

@MM - sorry but local English beers are superior to the mass produced Copenhagen - even the famous Elephant

@Chris - tell the crew that you will take them to Legoland - females will find the sight of cute kids more interesting than Beocom 2s

@All three - having spent time in both the wilds of Northumbria and Jutland I found both delightful - with a trip along Hadrians wall having an edge over the Jutland equivalent (yes there is a wall there to)

Before we get back to business of the op - just a few words.

@moxxey - I realize that I will have to 'tune in' to the 'British humour' to understand it - might take a while, so be patient with me Embarrassed

@elephant - I am certainly not talking the mass produced danish beer! I would not 'touch' it.

However as someone born and grown up in Denmark (actually Copenhagen) and someone who spends a lot of my time there, I do know a couple of excelent small breweries - that is the beer I drink....

...and German beer (some of it) too - as it is where I now live. Flensburg is located right next the borderline to DK - only a couple up kilometers away.

@elephant: You did send my mind on a detour with your comment to Chris, except that I found the picture of Chris' co-worker went very well with the image in my head of the same co-worker and a BeoCom 2 - not necessarily in Legoland.

Time to buckle up :-)

I am sure you are going to like the Bl9's! I recently switchef from BL 8000 to BL 9's. The difference is huge!

I stream most of my music from Spotify via Sonos into the Lab's. I now start to see that decent sources and good streamers can make a huge difference. I am thinking of changing my Sonos for a more high-end system. Maybe the new B&O sound system?

Nice one Elephant. My brother recently moved to Melbourne from London, via Wellington, and hasn't looked back.

We do ok in the UK, but it is a bit of a tired country and somewhat over-populated.

Back on topic, my dealer is planning to install my 'second batch' Avant on Thursday. Part worried, part excited.

I've now added a Blu/ray player. I took a Panasonic DMP BDP460. It was that one or a Sony, but I took the Pana as I thought it would have Viaplay (movies and TV-series) as it's available for Panasonic smart-TVs, but no. No Viaplay, but I found it in my XBox360 instead.

I'm happy with the player, nice picture and sound. Watched Gravity 3D and it was amazing picture, even if I had a feeling a bigger screen would be even better, but SWHTBO still thinks it is big enough so I will stick to 55.

Had problems with the sound when watching Smaug, the latest Hobbit movie. If I chose Spanish no problemas, but with German or English the sound was terrible. Via a menu in the Avant I found out that it was not the same Dolby for these languages track. English and German was DTS-HD MSTR 3/2/2.1ch when Spanish was Dolby Digital 3/2.1ch. In a menu in the Pana I found a setting for turning some Dolby setting to Off and then it worked.

I asked B&O to have the PUC codes for the Pana. Strange why they don't provide this on their website.
