In some of the threads in the last couple of weeks the SW-update to come has been mentioned.

As we now know, the Avant has become some functions that the other tv's haven't got.

The update was sceduled for the 30th of april, but has been delayed.

According to the dealer I spoke to yesterday it now seems that it should arrive in the night to monday.

He also told me that we will not see all the new functions of the recent Avant software, and mentioned that the Netradio probably would not be included.

Would be nice if we could 'collect' our experiences and thoughts about this update in one thread (this one!!!).

I would have appreciated very much to get Netradio on my V1-32 in my study, since it is not connected to my audiomaster.

I am also looking forward to the DLNA renderer function ---- should that be part of the general update.

Deezer will be part of it, for sure. But, do we/you need it?

Greetings Millemissen

Really looking forward Netradio so fingers crossed here.

Got Spotify when bought BV11 so if Deezer is better why not change (spotify is great on iphone with all the features far less on tv).

Good idea!  Will there be an easily accessible list somewhere explaining what exactly the software update has added?  I personally would find that useful

i hope iťs joke from b&o, netradio as a key feature of the avant. all tv based on the new video engine should have the same functions, if not b&o will not hear their customers.

Be interesting to see how far they can push the hardware with a bit of firmware update

The internet interface could do with a zoom function on web pages

I think we need to practice patience for some time, first the Avant has to make a good start, so dealers can show the additional items to new customers. it's all about sales figures don't you think? I only look forward to netradio on the update.

EDIT: I guess there is some more work to do on the update, maybe it's easy to add Deezer, but for Netradio you must have an update for owners of the ML/NL converter, because when I now choose Netradio it goes looking into my masterlink. And what to do with existing owners of Beoport in a ML/NL config. Or am I all wrong?

It is quite different what the dealers show when they demo the Avant.

At one occation a dealer focussed very much on the 'moving part' and the three 'wonder butons'.

Another one was focussing much more on the picture and the sound.

None of those two mentioned the Netradio, untill I asked the question.

And at 'my' dealer - well - we played a lot around with it ---- to discover every little detail......

---

You can assign Netradio of the Avant  to any button/command you want.

And besides the 'problem' with the NL/ML-converter (and updating that)  does already exist - now that the Avant is there.

Mille yes... ( I don't have the Avant, and I am not planning to buy one, not now or in the future) I am not interested in listening Spotify only on my V1, same goes for Netradio. I want Netradio as an app on my V1 and the possibility to listen also all along my link. Or will it be also a matter of restrictions as with Spotify.

But it looks B&O is taking a completely new road with the Avant and Essence, towards more stand-alone systems in every room Link rooms have to been seen in another optic now.

B&O surely have to update my converter to, otherwise it is not possible to listen to Netradio sent from my V1 in a linkroom.

It certainly seems that way ...

However perhaps the business strategy is to add more stand-alone systems and then bridge/branch out to link rooms in (say) two years time ?

After all B&O has to survive in the short term to be there in the medium & long terms

what I meant was:

If they have to update the converter in order to do so, they would already have done it.

The Avant and the V1 (if Netradio comes to it) reacts exactly the same in a setup with another Netradio source.

And the Avant is already here, so that should be no problem.

As you say - there could be (like with Spotify) restrictions with distributing the Netradio, but I don't think there are.

--

According to the 'new road', that you suppose B&O is taking:

It is a 'different road' - every NL-based tv can be linked to another NL-tv today (for audio).

Since there are no NL-based audio- or linkroom-products, we may not have seen how this 'new road' looks like yet.

Just came from the dealer (My new BL19 is arrived) and we get for sure on the BV11 & V1 the update by the end of the month May. No Netradio on the V1, perhaps on the BV11 he said, but for sure we get Deezer. Sad I'm disappointed.

Mille, I was also sorry to hear this bad news, he told me maybe in a subsequent phase. I was already dreaming to get in on my link system.

I'm not looking forward anymore to this update of the engine. Any more questions I have to ask him, I collect the BL19 this afternoon?

I would be very excited if my V1 gets the DLNA-renderer function!

Maybe you could ask if that will be.

He does not now about a renderer function. Mostly he gets the excact specifications about updates a couple of days before, and sometimes the update is already done before he gets the exact specifications. But he did described me in detail how the new music system will be.

And no, do not ask me, I promised not to tell how it looks! My lips are sealed. I promised myself to save every penny from now on. I WANT ONE!

The Deezer-functionality for BSys4 TV's is already listed on Deezer's website.

Looking forward to this update, currently I use Deezer via iPhone and Apple TV which is quite cumbersome.

Does Deezer have any advantage over Spotify at all?

My ignorance shows, as I have not heard of Deezer before this.

Many thanks

Then just tell us 'how it will be' - leave the 'how it looks away'.

P.S. If your dealer does not know about 'a renderer function', please do advice him to test it on the Avant.

It is already working there.

Deezer vs. Spotify.

I guess that depends on your priorities - I would not give any advice there.

Best try both services out to see what suits you best.

I look forward to at least trying Deezer.  I joined Spotify the day it became available in the US and find the interface becomes more cluttered with techie annoyances every upgrade. Maybe Deezer's interface is simpler.

But what about the quality of the stream?  Any comments?

@ Mille - Looks like Deezer is cheaper, for a premium only 5 euro's? Yes, but he has not tried the renderer function on the Avant.

I had a very good saving on  a new BV11-40, so I took my mother in law with me ( she has an old 21 years 28' Avant). She bought it for 5995 euro including manual wall bracket and complete installation at home. Damn, my mother in law did not pay my BL19.

I currently have a complete ban to enter the shop from my lovely wife. Angry

@Elephant - Start saving NOW!  Oh, I love how you can take it around the room!

We are talking Spotify/Deezer on the B&O tv.

I have heard that B&O have (had) more 'freedom' with Deezer in creating the interface - Spotify is rather restrict in that case.

I'll have to try Deezer on my V1 when/if it comes, before I will say anything.

But this is also about access to local artists (new and old) not just about the total amount of files.

Quality should (theoretically) be the same: 320 kbps.

Did not wanted to sound as the old schoolmaster, but.....

And i must admit that the 'native' iPad interface does matter, if you often use Spotify/Deezer outside the BV as well.

As I said above - I guess we will have to try it out to know what is best.
