Nice update. I like the fact that I now can assign speaker groups to sources like spotify. And automatic picture mute on audio sources. No issues with HD.

manitou:

the new software arrived.

and my bv 11 lost contact to the ca-unit -- no hd-tv

deezer and a new picture menu are available, but what should i do without sat-tv in hd.

thank you b+o

Also applied to the new Beovision Avant V1.06. Does B&O publish a change log anywhere?

Update is ok, also hd channels work ok, but why there is no net radio? i do not see difference between dlna function before and after update.

@ptbb - if you use the DLNA player function (HomeMedia) as usual, you won't see any difference.

The 'tv' now acts as a 'renderer' - means rhat it plays something that you 'throw at it' from a DLNA control point (could be an iPad app or the WMP).

(At least that is how the Avant reacts. I did not have the chance to test it on my V1 yet - but it should be the same.)

Think Playmaker - the Playmaker is a renderer for audio. You pick what you want to hear and choose where to play it.

Of course the 'tv'-renderer can also play video ---- and the tv turns on from Standby (with the right settings).

Great feature - imo.

P.S. May we hope for the Netradio function in another future update? Would make these BV's perfect!

You could write BeoCare and ask that question!

Some think that they are holding it back - ir order to have something special/exclusive for the Avant

To be a complete Luddite , do you mean they only need to share a router and network address , or is there more to the set-up ?

All devices (the BV11/V1..., the device with DLNA control point function, the DLNA server) must be on one/the same network.

The UPnP/DLNA function makes it possible for the devices to see each other.

This was needed for being able to use the HomeMedia function of the BV11/V1....

Now you can use a tablet/iPad/iPhone/SmartPhone... with a DLNA software on it, to 'command your BV11/V1...' to play the files from a server on your network.

If you - like me - have several hundrets of music albums, you may find it very hard to navigate in the HomeMedia section on the BV, and much easier to search for/find, what you want to play in a good app-interface (say on an iPad).

2: go to 'Service' in the menu and look for latest sw-version.

Do a search for new sw, or just wait untill tomorrow (if you have the automatic sw-update activated).

1: what's in the update is briefly explained on the screen, when the new sw is found.

My BV11 did not auto update as it should have done, so I did a manual check and update (from the internet) this morning.

After updating I found that my HDMI 1 source (Cambridge DVD) remained in the source menu, but HDMI 2 (Apple TV) had gone. After going to 'edit' HDMI 2 could be selected and I had to go through all the set-up options again for the Apple TV. Interestingly, this time pictures came up of the connections to be made to the TV (even though they had all already been made).

On completion, the menu now has an item it has called 'Apple Remote' and HDMI 2 does not actually appear.

I'm disappointed, was really looking forward for Netradio. And why a Deezer PLUS account? Anyway the stand-byscreen function is very useful as is the saving of a speaker-group. Looks the TV is ready for a Beoremote One also.

-Countdown to the next update (Netradio)!-

Never say never, but when I found that I could not stream internet radio via the BV11 web browser my dealer sent a query to Struer. The answer came back that the best thing to do was attach another B&O source with Netradio, and that the TV itself would not do it. There was no mention of a future TV upgrade for Netradio.

The Apple TV is a fairly good way to get Netradio.... I say fairly because Apple have their own categorisation of stations in their menu and finding a particular station is not straight forward. There doesn't seem to be a way of selecting the stream download quality, and you have to put up with Apple's own pictures rather than view the slide show that the station may have put out to accompany the broadcast.

Hey MM

Couple of questions:

How does the new DLNA function work? This is not clear to me. Isn't it the same as HomeMedia?

Which DLNA app would you need on your iPad? Do you need specific software on your NAS?

How do I configure the screen 'stand by' function for audio sources?

When you have seen how Netradio works on the Avant, you would surely choose that over the netradio from the ATV.

You can pick the stations and assign them to a digit on the remote - and skip to next.....

If you assign the Netradio to 'Radio' on the Beo4, you can use Netradio just like we are used to with the old analog radio.

And the interface on the tv is different - exactly as we expect from B&O.

Untill the arrival (?) of Netradio on the BV11/V1 I'll keep on AirPlaying radio from the TuneIn iPad app!

you don't - so it seems - it's 'auto'.

At least I haven't found a setting for that - which is quite odd!

Hope they change that in an update - to let us decide for On or Off.

Better would be, if they would make it source dependent and also let us decide for how long it takes 'till the screen mutes.

Sure it is HomeMedia - but now you can 'feed' the BV from a DLNA app. I mostly use the 8Player or the PlugPlayer (iOS).

Search for DLNA app's on iOS or Android (whatever you use), or (if you are Windows-user) try the 'Play To' function in WMP.

On your NAS you need a DLNA server - but if you have used the HomeMedia of your tv, you will already have one.

Note: the DLNA app can also work as server - means you can use the music, video (dependent on the file format) stored on the device for streaming to the BV.

Here is an example - you can see that my V1 as well as my Playmaker (and the iPad itself) is recognized as a renderer on my network.

You see the three servers that (at the moment) are available on my network - and the main folders/categories of the Synology DLNA server:

When you pick a video/movie in the interface of the 8Player, you get a screen like this - and the movie is playing on the BV.

You can (with the right settings) start from Standby - no need for pushing the HomeMedia 'button' first, and you can 'pause' with the Beo4 as usual:

And here is music playing - you can 'pause/play' and skip tracks as usual.

The cover and the info's are shown as usual on the BV.

Note: now the screen auto-mutes after some seconds.

Not that I know - did not expect that to come for the BV11/V1 now.

Again - we may hope (at least I do).

But it might be that the 'engine se-version' of the BV11 and/or theV1 can't handle that.

Nice with the pics MM. That looks like a funktion there is useful.

Yes USB Rec could be the thing that could make me pull the trigger on a V1 or beosystem 4.

Another point of detail. On switching on the BV11 the name 'Bang & Olufsen' no longer appears bottom right before the curtains open.

It is now a rather larger name/ logo at the centre  of the screen with a waving / dimming sort of image.

I have updated my BV 11-55 and experience problems with HbbTV. When the display shows up, the screen goes black for half a second, every time I switch to a channel with HbbTV. When switching to another channel, the HbbTV from the previous channel is shown except from the new channel. When switching channels, for a brief moment the message "no tuner available" is displayed. Annoying and clearly a bug.

Hello Millemissen,

I installed 8player on my iPad and it works very nicely.

However, I can't make music play directly on my V1. It seems that I first have to start a movie and then switch to music. Any thoughts what's wrong?

Is the screenshot you added for music from 8player? Mine looks totally different. By the way, nice to see that you also like Agnes Obel! She is soooo good!

All in all, DLNA is a very nice feature added to the V1. This is what I like about it so much. With Spotify, Deezer, YouTube and now this DLNa functionality, the functionality becomes better and better. I am really looking forward for NetRadio to make things complete.

Anyhow, this is the way to go for B&O!

  • So the new DLNA media slinging feature is an AirPlay knock-off? I haven't been able to try it yet. Sounds alright, but I've already got an Apple TV.
  • I am extremely happy about being able to configure individual speaker groups for individual sources. I've set my audio-only sources to only use my external speakers. A small feature, but a huge convenience.
  • Not sure about Deezer. Why would anyone use that instead of Spotify?
  • There's a new monitor picture mode. How does it differ from the game mode?
  • The menu system has a new highlight design.
  • Have you noticed anything else that's different?

Raeuber:

Hi Räuber,

The only way I - so far - have found out, is to to move/press the navi-button.

This also brings back the overview of the servers and the last played items.

To 'get rid of' that list you then have to press 'back'.

Alternatively you push the 'blue button' - this brings on the 'info' about the file.

Pushing that again take the 'info' away and leaves the cover with trackname.... on the screen

Then the 'fun' goes on - after some time the screen mutes again.

N.B. For how long the screen stayes on, I haven't quite figured out - some times it seems longer than other times ???

Edit! While writing this the scren hasn't muted for more than three/four tracks - more than 15 minutes with the screen on Unsure

Edit! Edit! The screen is stiiiil on - don't know if it was the 'blue-blue button push' that made it?

I must say - it is rather uncomfortable. Maybe I missed something Crying

And maybe - after all - the 'old' 'P-Mute' function was better?

Problem is - you can't turn off the 'Auto P-Mute'.

I would very much like to hear how things are with other BV11/12NG/V1-users.

Guess I'll have to 'play around' a bit more tomorrow.

Please note - I have only tried this in the 'HomeMedia' function.

But I can't imagine, that it should be different with Spotify.

P.S. Sorry for the long 'not-answer'!

All in all, DLNA is a very nice feature added to the V1.

1: my V1 turns on from scratch, when I start playing a track in the 8Player.

Sure you have 'quicktimers' activated?

2: you can costumize the main screen of the 8Player - under settings.

3: DLNA is not new - it's the renderer function that is new.
