I have been looking at the NL/ML converter in light of the Avant announcement ,,,,,,,
It seems to me that for someone like myself you could put the NL/ML at a central point e.g. the Avant, and use existing ML cables.
However in my case the ML cables are relatively easy to replace ... so would it be better (but more expensive) to have several NL/ML converters - one in each link room at the end of a Cat 6/7 run ?
And along these lines of link room connectivity I am forming the opinion that the Essence is useless as it has no NL (nor ML) connectivity.
What do you think . . . .
Has anyone implemented an Essence . . . .
Where did you place your NL/ML . . . . .
BeoNut since '75
You would only need one converter.
If you put that in a room of your choice (whichever is possible), you can use it there as an 'active link'.
For the other rooms (for audio) you would only need the 'normal' BeoLink Active or similar connected to ML.
I'm interested in hearing about integration of the Essence too.
But you do know, that you can connect the Playmaker to the NL/ML Converter and use iit over NL as well as over ML. Maybe the Essence could be used instead.

I have a similar question to yours Millemissen. Is it possible to use music from essence in one room by connecting active speakers to a playmaker in another room?
In that case neither NL/ML or beolink-active would be necessary.
The Playmaker is not NL-capable (and also not ML-capable) - so no!
That goes for the Essence 1th generation too.
I understand. What if I connect a essence MKII with NL/ML converter and then via Beolink active to beolabs in the other room. Would that work?
You would need BeoLink Converter NL/ML on each ML linkroom device only if you want to make them part of the "full" Multiroom setup (also to have an app control on each of your ML device). Keep in mind that for BeoLink Passive/Active, BL3500, BL2000, ... you will also need a current master box in this case. If that is not the goal you can do fine with only one BLC.
The only way to implement BS Essence MK1 is to have it as a LineIn source for other product... Essence MK2 is in other hand Multiroom capable.

elephant: There is the little black box that attaches to the BLC and which simulates a master box signal

A NL/ML Converter for each ML-device will take the ML-devices individually into the NL.
One NL/ML Converter will take the all masterlinked devices into the NL, without being able to adress these individually.
In most cases one converter should do the job!
You can of course place the converter in the room with your router etc.
But you could also place it in a room, where you want sound - just connect BeoLabs an an ir-eye to it.
A nice and cheap option - sort of a new 'beolink active'.
How your devices behaves (where you get sound, from which devices and on which commands) depends on the configuration of the converter.
