Hiya Guys

I am considering buying the new avant but wanted to know how beoworlders are hiding cables and number of set top boxes and other sources

I think some of you might even have them in another room

photos would be appreciated

Thanks

Hi Quader,

There are plenty of good approaches to use here.  Personally, I keep all my video sources in a nice cabinet out of the way and control them from the TV via the PUC outputs (with this: http://www.soundsheavenly.co.uk/bando-tvir.htm )

Cable socks ( http://www.soundsheavenly.co.uk/bando-smallsock.htm ) can be used to hide any visible cabling, or you can get these channelled into your walls for a really "clean" look.

I'm sure there will be lots of other ideas coming soon from other Beoworlders...... Smile

Kind regards, Steve.

Steve.

Pardon me - I was too temptet Embarrassed

I have my BluRay player, AppleTV Box (with PUC cables), a network switch, a converter, a switchable power outlet and lots of cables in the original B&O cabinet under my BV8-40.

The power cable,  antenna, Network- and ML-cable coming through the wall from behind - you only see the cables (in the original B&O rubber thing) running to the frontspeakers and (if you look close) one PL to the rears.

This cable concealment thing is important to me , which is why I would chose the table stand or wall bracket for the new Avant . So much easier to avoid the "tail" of cable which instantly caught my eye at the launch event . Our V1 and beocenter 6 are both wall mounted and the one on the stud wall was easier to achieve .

I use a Beosystem 2 box. Big enough to hold everything and well ventilated.

Beosound Stage, Beovision 8-40, Beolit 20, Beosound Explore.

Agreed. I would use a table stand.

B&O products are V1-32, BS2, H95, E8 and an Essence remote.
11-46 now replaced with Sony A90J 65”, Sony HT-A9, Sony UBP-X800M2 and Sony SRS-NS7.

I place our BV on an Ikea cupboard that's part of a bookcase, and placed all the gear inside that - it resulted in a rat's nest of cabling in the original set-up which I have been lately decluttering as there was kit we never used so it is now about half empty !

Ideally I would have the kit relocated by about 4 metres, into a cupboard in another room which houses things like the wi-fi router and backup drives.  Might even happen one day !

I will say that with the adoption of HDMI life has become easier than my original setup which had an endless array of cable ropes: VGA, RCA, SCART, and HDMI and 16 power points and a RCA video switching box.

Our V1 in the living room has the Stb etc in a cabinet  and the TV is wall mounted just above it . The wall in that room needs to be channeled when we redecorate to put the cable trucking behind the plaster , but it's unobtrusive . On the top floor where it's stud wall the cable has been routed through the wall for the Beocenter 6 and comes out through a shelf which covers the plug etc where the power socket etc are fitted . I considered putting the bluray in the cavity and using the PUC but made a feature of it like a Bauhaus sculpture!

But what is that big tail coming out of the back ?

i know the length of cable required changes according to the stand position but it looks a bit of an afterthought having paid for B&O . (I also know you're looking at a fabulous picture when it's switched on )

That looks great, what boxes have you got attached?

I have heard that you should put them in a ventilated cabinet/cupboard etc

also if you are using a blue ray player then it needs to be accessible to put the disc in

That's the standard B&O socket for power cord and cable/optical internet-tv.

You need it on motorised floor stand and you barely see it on the other side of the BV11.
