I think it is possible Moment will be introduced at CES 2015 in Las Vegas.
It's been some time since this thread was active.
The CES 2015 is now near - one month to go.
What do we expect coming?
Or rather - what/how will the BeoSound Moment actually be?
MM
There is a tv - and there is a BV
I'm expecting HI-RES audio solution that can be streamed wirelessly to the WISA speaker range
If it's not this - there's no point - you'd just keep using your iPad
I am hoping for a device that will:
I will refrain from making any changes until it's announced.
Eclipse 65V1-32Beosound M5Essence MK2BLI
I doubt it'll get DAB - it's more likely to get Internet radios.
Also for Airplay, there are issues with Apple's licensing terms, as it's not allowed for an AirPlay device to re-send the audio wirelessly, so you can't have for now AirPlay and Wisa in the same device.
The rest, I am pretty sure you'll get.
p.
Beoworld app with direct photo upload and emoticons.
As for AirPlay - I am pretty sure that it will have AirPlay.
You can't make a home audio device without AirPlay support nowadays!
As for WiSA - I am pretty sure it (in addition to PL) will have WiSA support - for connecting wirelessly to the BeoLab's (if needed).
BUT it won't have WISA multiroom support - it will be NL-enabled to work directly with the newer BV's.
Making a standalone BeoSound - based on WiSA multiroom - would be crucial.
I am pretty sure, that there will be no old-school tuners (FM/DAB..) inside, but internet radio...
...and support for different audio services - including Spotify Connect.
And DLNA support too.
I would - still - hope for an internal CD player. But I don't really believe in it.
Hopefully there will be an autosense line input there.
All in all a very 'modern' audio system!
The important thing - though - will be the interface!
That is what could make a/the difference.
How to access our sources in a smooth/easy way (including from the NL-network) - that should be their biggest concern.
And i'm very curious about the look :
In past threads, Roger said : "a charging station, some wood, a panel that flips,...".
The picture we saw here can't, as always, give us some details.
My imagination:
Something more or less stationary containing some hardware like radio tuner, DAC, line in for sockets for diverse audio equipment, line out for amplifiers, active speakers, Bluetooth, air play, inside a bay for a tablet or phablet or smartphone, an app to control the device.
Once upon a time I dreamed about such a device. I shared this very realistic daydream with some Beoworlders in May 2012 you know where.
From a radio point of view, it's Internet radio for the home now! DAB is strictly for cars at the most or those little retro radios! Apart from the BBC, radio stations are now broadcasting in MONO here in the UK on DAB with 64kbps rates or 80 at the most - now compare that to streaming at 320 or lossless! The bug radio groups, you know the ones, who play the same songs by Rihanna and then 8 adverts in a row are launching extensions of their services in the new year - all in Mono! Think of DAB as a 90s technology that simply lost the plot!
For sound quality and choice now, it's Internet radio.
I would be happy if B&O just integrates features and functions they have scattered across different products (Playmaker, Essence, Transmitter etc) into one.
I wouldn't - it must be much more than that.
Possibility of integrating with the NL is very important.
Well that goes without saying.
Who in their right mind would launch a home integration platform and then not support it in a new Beosound?
With B&O you never know
You will be able to find the Moment at your local dealer in February, and they haven't changed anything regarding the classy interface and ground breaking design. I loved the JJ design approach in the 80's where you could touch glass and get a reaction, in these green and sustainable times they have kept the wood that can be touched in the same way.
There will be no DAB option, no airplay.
I am still waiting for the final saying regarding Spotify Connect, but there will be Deezer included - without Spotify Connect it is off my shopping list for now.
Roger
Does it - at least - have a line-in (with autosense), in order to connect an AirPlay device?
Without AirPlay and Spotify Connect it would be off the shopping list of quite so many people - I guess!
Or should I rather ask:
WHAT does it actually have???
@Roger
have they gave us the old genre function back?
I've written it before:
the acceptance of the Moment depends on the interface, and how it acts in a NL-setup.
We might miss functions - but maybe (some of) these will come with an update sooner or later.
Thanks Martin - maybe I/we all should try out Deezer. Many of us will have time now at Christmas (vacation) time for testing

Maybe we all won't try Deezer. It is not available in the US and I suspect all of North America. I must admit this thread is starting to get frustrating because I am not really getting a good idea of what Moment is and what it can really do. Maybe that's the problem with rumors. I will wait for the official announcement.
Ups - sorry!
One should think before one writes
For my part - by now I have no idea, what the Moment really will bring.

MM no need to apologize. I probably do like all the speculation about new products. For me, I hoping Moment has a line in Aux for my Beogram 7000 and connects to a Beovision Avant 55. Most of the music services will be okay for me. I actually like Qbuz better and it helps me improve my mediocre French language skills.

According to my information hardware is ready but there are still software problems.
My guess: The Waiting Moment will be there in April.

The reason why I never got a BeoSound 5 is the impossibility to browse a library in a "genre > artist > album" sequence.
This will remain my main criteria: I will purchase a Moment on day one if it does support this sequence. If not, it will be a definitive no-go I am afraid (fortunately other brands offer very nice alternatives, which already drive my Beolab speakers very well).

Beosound Stage, Beovision 8-40, Beolit 20, Beosound Explore.

Chris Townsend:Already shipping by the looks of it
BeoNut since '75
Chris Townsend:No idea. Bottom of very first Google page search! Beovision 7-55 Mk2, Beovision 8-32, Avant RF 28, Beolab 8000, Beoplay A9, Beoplay 2, Beocom 2, Beotime, H6, Form 2.
Hi,
Looking at the HS-code, I'm really interested what kind of aparatus you're going to receive.

BeoBoy68:[Wood prototype]
Could we please stop posting that picture over and over again until it gets a couple of more pixels? It's ruining the entire product for me

" they have kept the wood that can be touched in the same way "
I'm courious about the technology that can make wood a sensitive material !
B&O used sensitive glass, aluminium, composite, but never wood. It's really intriguing...
Another "tour de force" by Bang & Olufsen ?
Very exciting to see and touch the Moment in flesh.
Like all B&O products, the Moment will need to be experienced in the real life !
It's the (alleged) prototype that's been sculpted in wood - doesn't mean the real thing will be in wood - although it is rumoured that part of it will be in wood.
Touch sensitive wood does exist though.
Chris Townsend:That would be some unboxing wouldn't it. $550 is a bargain though isn't it , I can't wait Beovision 7-55 Mk2, Beovision 8-32, Avant RF 28, Beolab 8000, Beoplay A9, Beoplay 2, Beocom 2, Beotime, H6, Form 2.
" Touch sensitive wood does exist though "
You're right. i remember a wood alarm clock with lighting and touch sensitive. Don't know about the durability.
The Moment is certainly in another league.
elephant:Ship at internal inter company price - then mark up with local costs and overheads and royalties ... So don't get too excited The Essence of B&O is discretion in design and life
I read on the forum that it will cost around 2000 Euros.
