Hello Forum fellows
I was looking into some beautiful Beocenters 8500/9xxx sold via private sales here in the past, and I decided to search for one too.
It's not that I need it really, but I love the design so much that I want it as an object of art too (apart from the obvious purpose). I would probably tend to invest around 200-300 EUR max for a really nice unit that was loved and in fully working mint condition.
I know some Beocenters were more expensive than the others, so I don't expect every potential seller will find himself in this price range. Probably it might be someone who really needs more space in the house for other things, and wants to find a new owner who will take good care of it.
So the motives are not commercial/reselling, and I assume it might happen I won't find anyone interested - but let's give it a try.
Have 8500/9000/9300/9500's all in near mint condition. Don't wanna say mint because mint for me means new! PM me if you're interested. Must warn you though, shipping can be expensive and it takes lots of effort to pack them properly for safe transportation.
Brengen & Ophalen
You are right. Mint condition is subject to everyone's individual interpretation.
Let me be more specific: looking for a unit in a 9.5/10 state (10/10 being reserved for a new unit), like the one sold in the following thread which was btw my inspiration to try to find myself one like that:

You can be sure when buying from Leslie that you get top notch items handled with much care and prepared perfectly for transportation. I'd not miss out on the opoortunity ;-)
Greetings,
Kai
Well thank you Kai for the kind words and free advertisement :-) :-)
8500/9000 are not so delicate from scratches/dents point of view other then the 9300/9500 series which has those bling bling panels.
@ Roman, will send you pictures by PM as requested.
Kai, you were so right!
Beocenter 8500 from Leslie is fantastic and really met (and exceeded) my superdemanding expectations, all at the very fair price. I am delighted. (Posted pics in "Flash your B&O" thread)

Don't wanna say mint because mint for me means new!
New means new.Mint means as close to being new as possible without actually being new.
Absolutely easiest if we all use the same condition terms.
Martin
Your interpretation Martin, not mine..
Naah, I don't know:http://archivedforum2.beoworld.org/forums/p/7285/65014.aspx#65014http://archivedforum2.beoworld.org/forums/p/6611/59443.aspx#59443http://archivedforum2.beoworld.org/forums/p/189/71483.aspx#71483http://archivedforum2.beoworld.org/forums/p/8949/78775.aspx#78775http://archivedforum2.beoworld.org/forums/p/2350/78526.aspx#78526http://archivedforum2.beoworld.org/forums/p/9016/96977.aspx#96977
Surely, these are nice but cannot all be new ?Including the speakers you painted yourself ?
Anyway, the site owner uses the same "interpretation":http://archivedforum2.beoworld.org/forums/p/5849/52670.aspx#52670
Not sure why you start with "Naah", bit of sarcasm right?
Will reply tomorrow, busy day tomorrow. .
And here is the definition according to Wikipedia:
Mint condition is an expression used in the description of pre-owned goods. Originally, the phrase related to the way collectors described the condition of coins. As the name given to a coin factory is a "mint", then mint condition is the condition a coin is in when it leaves the mint.[1] Over time, the term "mint" began to be used to describe many different items having excellent, like-new quality.

Not sure where you see sarcasm. How do you interpret sarcasm ?Higher up in this thread, you state that you don't use the term mint because to you it means new.I then point you to a bunch of instances, where you used the term mint about used items, even speakerswith foam rot and smaller dings and even items you painted yourself.Mint=new? Naah...

Sarcasm? Well, you just answered your own question at the end of your last post, just think about it.
Just wondering why you took the "effort" posting my links on this thread.
Again, mint/new is a personal interpretation as a private seller.
Just being carefull using that word whenever a buyer is asking for the condition. That's all and nothing more.
Leslie: Just wondering why you took the "effort" posting my links on this thread.
It was to point you to your own inconsistent or at least confusing use of the term mint.Nothing more.
Leslie: Again, mint/new is a personal interpretation as a private seller.
Re. new, I don't agree that it's down to personal interpretation. New means new. You don't have to look at the thing toevaluate its condition - it's new.Re. mint, I agree - but it would be easier if you at least could try to be consistent in your own use of the term.In a post in one of the links above you use the term mint about defective (foam rot to be repaired) speakers you paintedyourself and in this very thread you say that your interpretation of the term mint is that it means new.
I feel the bickering between Leslie and Dillen should be done by discussion between the two privately rather than publicly here on a thread that has effectively been hijacked. The OP is happy with Leslies description, product and service. Please leave it at that.
I respect both Martin (Dillen) and Leslie for their valuable contributions and services to B&O owners. I don't think this petty bickering (which has cropped up on other threads) is what this forum is all about.
Dave.
I totally agree with you Dave ( you should be a mod). If OP agrees let him ask to remove this silly discussion.
As Dillen is mod I believe he can delete posts after the last I posted? I am using Mac and I can't access "More" functions nor post pics from Safari, so even if I have rights to delete it - I can't.
Therefore I'm kindly asking either Dillen or some other mod to "cut" the thread when you guys have a moment spare. Many thanks.
