Hi,
Have been using BeoConnect for some time on several laptop and desktop PC computers. Now suddenly on one of them (running Windows 8) BeoConnect is no longer connecting to the BeoSound5/BeoMaster5. It detects the device on the network, the IP is fine, but connection doesn't happen.
Uninstalled and installed the software again, but didn't help. Surprinsingly, after a fresh install, it keeps the old configuration with BeoSound5 on the list of selected device (!?), meaning that the uninstall did not clean all the parameters.
Anybody any clue how to solve the problem?
Did you set a username/password on the Beomaster for the connection?
Still not working on one computer running Windows 8. The BeoSound5 parameters are correct, but BeoConnect does not want to connect to the device. I'm quite sure that the problem comes from a network option which prevents the computer to connect to the BS5, but which one???!!
Same here.
Wanted to demonstrate how to connect between Beonnect and the BM5 (without BS5) for a customer.
So I changed the password in the BM5 menu to show how to connect.
Beoconnect finds the BM5, asks for the (modified) password, but doesn't connect.
Several times restarting or changing the password inside the BM5 (service)menu, doesn't work.
So, would a software-update be responsible for this bug?
I never had this before.
PC, laptop or Macmini can't connect with the BM5.
What worked for my was changing the workgroupname via the service-menu.
Changing the workgroup won't help and after all BeoConnect works fine on several of my other computers. One is resisting and I'm trying to figure out why.
When I ping the BeoMaster5 using DOS command on that particular computer it works fine, but once in Windows it doesn't connect anymore.
My guess is that there is something in the network parameters that prevents BeoConnect from talking to the Beomaster5, but what?
I appreciate your help, but alas it's not the firewall. When I turn the firewall off, I still can't connect.
Compared the network configuration with that of another of my PC running also Windows 8, which has absolutely no problem connecting via BeoConnect. Couldn't figure out any difference. I'm clueless...
My router is only a few months (Linksys 6900) old. So that's not the solution.
Beside restarting the BM5 and changing the workgroupname, I also installed the Beoport software, as I have a PC Link2 active box installed.
Did you change your workgroupname? It might have something to do the way the pc's trust/rights on the same network.
For me the problems started by changing the passworg inside the BM5. Entering the same password at Beoconnect didn't work. Before that, it worked flawless. Strange behaviour.
goto
Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network and Sharing Center\Advanced sharing settings
change the homegroup connections
Changing the work group name didn't help either.
I contacted BeoCare, but based on their initial rather naive responses I doubt that they will be of much help.

The problem has indeed been fixed... but I unfortunately don't remember what was the solution. The problem was specific to one of my computers with Windows 8.
