Flere:The in-build Spotify source delivers stuttering sound after some time. It is not my network connection. Any others experiencing the same?

I've had something similar with network radio from time to time (on a Roku unit and on an Olive One: I don't have an Avant). I've always assumed that the streaming has started with insufficient buffering and for some reason the buffering has not refreshed and gradually runs out causing the stuttering. A refresh or reset usually gets rid of the problem for long periods.

Yes! I always use Spotify in iPhone/iPad and use AirPlay to MasterLink. But the Avant 55 is not connected to ML and I tried once to use Spotify in the Avant (was doing some cable works in the TV room and wanted some music to listen to). Started the Spotify app. Was good for some minutes but it soon started to be stuttering. Turned it off and has never tried it again.
I haven't had that with Spotify.
Neither with the 'Spotify' BV source, nor by airplaying from iDevices.
And my internet connection is not fast at all (6 Mbps).
Must be some kind of network/wifi issue.

There is a tv - and there is a BV
Hi,
I haven't tried spotify yet on my avant. Is spotify really worth it? I just normally buy my music and then play from the music I have bought. I have a free account and will try it.
If you are as curious as I am, you'll love it.
I like exploring the music of an artist/band/producer, that I already know from some of his/her/their albums *
Imagine you'd have to buy all the albums, that Tom Petty (as an example) has made....
....it would cost you a fortune.
And why would you want to have them locally stored - you can easily re-listen at any time.
I only buy music, that I can't find on Spotify - or special editions (with DVD or nice artwork etc) or multichannel editions.
I buy these as physical media - a download (as compressed audio) is not worth the money to me.
* Some people like to explore other peoples 'playlists' (and/or share their own) - Spotify is perfect for this too!

I've noticed similar behavior in my cable box for TV but never in Spotify but then I don't use a Beovision for it. At times on cable there is an obvious buffering issue, as when you switch to a channel there's obvious video judder, audio is fine. If I hit pause for about 3 or 4 sec then play it is fine. I think on numerous products the initial buffering can be problematic if it takes a while to sync up and giving it a chance to rebuffer helps.

I'm afraid I'm recovering from the BeoVirus.
Well, after the Deezer app in the Avant 55 stopped functioning I switched to Spotify.
Again 2 minutes into a track the sound is stuttering. Go to next track it starts fine and then after 2 minutes it starts stuttering.
Both Spotify and Deezer seem to be useless at this moment.
The Avant 55 is connected by CAT6 cable to a gigabit switch, just like my Mac.
My Mac report a 180Mbs download performance from the internet, so I cannot imagine my high speed network is the problem cause.
180Mbs download - give me some of that, pleeeease
And if you run Spotify/Deezer on the Mac - what happens then?

Flere:Maybe my network is too fast for B&O ?
Interesting thought - hold that one.
So is the buffer inside the Avant too shallow compared to the MacBook ?
In other words the stutter is caused by some sort of race condition in the buffer -- data arriving too fast, playing too slowly, and needing to discard parts of the buffer ?
Whereas the MacBook simply caches the entire song ?
How does the MacBook cope for example with an orchestral piece such as a symphony with a long play time ?

ngnear:I don't know if it's relevant, but I have a hard disk installed. I'll check tomorrow if it is used when running Spotify. Happy New Year!
A network cannot be too fast, but it can be misconfigured.
Please try to disconnect your ethernet cable, and connect the Avant via wifi. See how that changes behaviour. Same issues, or none or different issues. Also, when using the ethernet cabled connection, try to configure your switch port for 10/100 auto duplex. I don't think you are able to configure the ethernet port on the avant manually, so this is the most compatible setting. Best would still be to configure both ends to the same fixed speed and duplex settings. What switch are you using?
Please let us know the results. I do not believe there is a basic issue with the avant spotify or deezer apps.
