Hi Leo,
I am still not understanding which specific pieces your are asking about separating and gluing back together.I would guess you are either referring to the wood trim pieces around the metal frame or the metal trim piece on the dust cover.In both cases the original glue appears to be contact cement. The current way we remove the old pieces is by wrapping the pieces in foil and placing them in an oven to loosen the glue. Rudy describes the process here - "This is best done by baking the plinth wrapped in aluminum foil for an hour at the 'warm' setting (~80-90C) in a kitchen range" and here - "...apply a new aluminum trim".
For both the aluminum dust cover trim and the plinth wood trim contact cement was used.-sonavor

Ah, okay. You are referring to this Beogram 4002 Type 5503 of mine.The removal technique for that was old age. The keypad parts had fallen apart and that is how I received them. But it does show that the original glue can probably be loosened/softened for removal. I would use the same technique Rudy uses to soften the glue on the metal trim on the Beogram 400x dust cover...wrapped in aluminum foil for an hour at the 'warm' setting (~80-90C) in a kitchen range.I have done a number of resurfacing of the keypad key area (with a matte clear-coat finish) though and I don't remove the acrylic plate.I remove the old, original clear-coat with some solvent then clean it of all debris before spraying on the new finish.

(I like the standalone beogram flaoting alone, reminds me the 4002c on his marble block, Woud like to do the same but its difficult to integrate in my living room.)
