Hi to all,

I've just bought Beoplay H8 and find out that when I turn on Bluetooth and connect to the phone (I tried with two different phones) some noise could be noticed. Is it normal or there should be total silence? When ANC is off it’s much lower but when ANC is on it’s noticeable.

Thank you for your help!

You can disable ANC by dragging the finger downwards over the touchpad on the right earpad. You can also use the app for it. It is always enabled by default. I don't see it as a big problem to just swipe downwards.

Regarding the noice that can be heard in the background, I hear them too and it is probably disturbance from the bluetooth radio chip. It is probably not very well isolated from the other circuitry. This is very apparent also on BeoPlay A1 and a little bit on Beolit 15. It is very easy to hear the radio communication between the bluetooth chip and the phone om H8 if you have good hearing. I wish they worked harder on the RF-side but I don't think that is B&Os strong side unfortunately.

Hmm, not impressed with the quality of my H8. On my third pair and they still squeak like a scared pig. Super Angry

This last replacement pair was refurbished and with a low 2511 S/N and started to sound terrible within hours. The pair before had a high S/N and they worked fine for 4-5 months or so.

And I've also noticed that when they get in to the high pitched squeaky mode, the sound quality alters adding a metallic haze over everything. And it also adds a ton of distortion on higher notes, e.g. a female vocal letting loose or an electric guitar. I think it was this "mode" that at one point when cold wind from the subway triggered them to go all in with a loop of squeakiness and I had to rip them off my head.

Starting to wonder if it's related to the shape of my ears and the feedback construction of the ANC. When removing/fastening the ear cushion triggers the high pitched noise when it gets close to the center raised black dot, maybe it's my ear that gets too close and triggers the freaky ANC squeaky mode?

But then again, when they were new it didn't seem to matter really. Everything was OK when adjusting or handling them. At least for a while.

I'll have to ask B&O if it's possible to pay a little bit extra to get the H9 instead. Maybe they have figured it all out for that model? Just know that I'm getting tired of returning them all the time...

Hi. Just to let you know I bought the H9 one week ago. I had the acoustic feedback issue just like you described. I went to the shop in London to have it replaced straight and I still have the problem. I explained to the manager that I did not wanted to send them away with UPS as It makes it my problem where it should be a B&O problem really.  so they gave me a new pair but 5 min after tried it... still the same issue. I don't know if it's an hardware issue or what as I believe most of it is shared with the H8 or if it's my ears... as apparently no body at the job managed to reproduce the issue... and we tried 3 different person. I don't know what to do. Shall I actually return it again or it this some kind of default with the way the ANC work with B&O (which by the way makes it unusable) ?

Hi ppl,

I'm about to buy new pair of H8 headphones.

the serial number of an item is :  265XX721. How do u recommend, would it be a good pair of headphones according to serial number?!

Another issue is that the packing of the item looks like original but still it differs from the majority that I've seen on the net. you can see the image bellow. How do u think is it genuine ?!

It is just a cover, or is normal packaging underneath.

"You think we can slap some oak on this thing?"

Hi guys,

I'm trying to figure out the correct sequence of actions to switch between (previously paired) devices. I use my H8 with iPhone 7 and MacBook Pro 2016, but whenever I need to switch between the two, I'm still not sure what to do: do I have to just press the switch once (or twice?), press and hold it, do I have to force the connection on the device side (e.g. click Connect in MacBook bluetooth settings). I just randomly do something until the H8 gets connected to the right device. Is there a beautiful and seamless way to switch correctly? ) Thanks!

Cheers,

-Ilya

I have this exact issue as well. Switching between the two, right now, is quite awkward. Any tips/pointers to get it to be more seamless, or at least to get the procedure documented and repeatable would be awesome.

I actually ran into this last night (MBP and iPhone). I think the easiest way is to turn the H8 into Bluetooth discovery mode (flashing blue light), and hit connect on your device's BT settings.

If I'm not mistaken, quickly flipping the switch to BT on the H8 will only toggle BT on or off. That said, if both previously paired devices are on, and within the same vicinity of the H8 when you turn on BT, the H8 will just connect to whichever it sees first (and pretty randomly).

Have anybody tried if it is possible to use ear cushion from H9? It looks like it should be the same when I look at pictures.

Is it possible to check which software you have?

Late arrival to the entire H8 scene.  Got a set of open box Gray Hazel with SN 25127xxx.  In looking at this forum to see if I should keep or return, I noticed that the Gray Hazel fix shows a 7-digit serial number. Could the fix have been implemented at 25124849? That seems more aligned to the Argilla Bright serial number.  As a side note, the only Bluetooth issues I have had is when I have wandered away from my device...maybe 15 to 20 feet.  Overall, I am very happy with them.

Hello everyone,

I have an issue with my BeoPlay H8s and was wondering whether anyone can reproduce it.

For some time now, my H8s haven't saved their SoundTouch settings, which means I have to apply my SoundTouch settings whenever I turn them on.

The real problem starts, when I turn my H8s on and adjust the settings before playing music. Whenever I do this, my phone will show playback after starting music but there is no sound coming from the H8 and they can't be turned off anymore, except when I take out the battery.

I was able to reproduce this behaviour on 3 devices (iPhone X, iPhone 6, iPad Air) all running the lastest iOS and BeoPlay App.

After sending my H8s in three times the tech support finally acknowledged there was a problem and sent me a brand new pair (thanks!). However, these brand new H8s exhibit the exact same problem.

So lang story short: Is anyone able to reproduce this behaviour?
