dueno: still blurr and crop on album art
still blurr and crop on album art
Probably not considered a bug. Rather a conscious design decision. But I still don't like it.
If enough users complain, that may change it

The newest update gives me the feeling the screen is indeed actually a lot more responsive to my commands, in starting a m3u playlist, or starting an album from the Jukebox the screen feels more sensitive.
Further I noticed a change in listening at my Masterlink, the up-down button for choosing a track from a Beo4 is restored to his function, the ML-link is now again very ductile.
I tried the Moment today, in using it as a normal piece of music gear, which means I did try it to several power off , starting again with radio, playlist, albums, pattern play… It never does disappoint me and worked flawlessly.
I don’t dare to reload my music from the Mac mini server to see if the load response is now actually faster or faultless, at present the server is now delivering music files as it should be and the Moment picks it up fine. So I better stay off.
Gapless is indeed not yet possible, but I’m sure they will add it in a future update. Twonky server is capable to work with gapless albums, so why not.
I still try to figure out how the Moment is sorting my m3u playlist(s). There is no point in what order you writing your m3u playlist: Alphabetical or non-alphabetical, by first or last album or artist. It just does not what you want.
In earlier attempts to reset and reload the Moment with music from the server, my m3u playlist albums are every attempt shaken in another order. It feels very odd, and not understandable. So the question is: How do I have to sort the lines on a m3u playlist to get an order as I want on the Moment. Maybe Beocare can answer that, or they can refer me to Lynx Technology at support@twonky.com who is never responding.
I personally don’t have problems with ‘blurred’ album art as Dueno says, its probably indeed more a conscious design decision and deliberately done as Hiort tells. The middle of the picture is very sharp and it goes more and more blurred to the outside of the picture. But I can get there, for some it would be better not to blur it, and keep it sharp as you see in the picture I added.
All together I have the impression that this update is a welcome upgrade in providing a better functioning Moment. A nice gift from B&O for Halloween.

dueno:You have to invert the order of your playlist track and then you have the correct order in the moment. The path to the file of the track must not have accent like é,è,ê....that is a twonky problem not b&o!!!!

I have to go against this, yet in my case the Twonky playlist as viewed on my server is in perfectly alphabetical order referring to Artist. This is not the case on the Moment. It appears shaked under artist, as example playlist Jazz starts with A artist and then you get a D artist...
I know about the accent like é... but thats more a NAS problem with a Twonky app on it.

Hi Jérôme
I cross my fingers, let us know your findings... (Buckshot LeFonque) I also love the New Orleans funk jazz

everybody has to ask beocare about the gapless playback thing...otherwise nothing going to happen I'm afraid

mbolo01:For the record: BeoCare had my Moment replaced and was strongly suggesting me to change my "router" to get rid of all those MoodWheel issues, even if all evidences were pointing to a software issue.
Thats some new advice from Beocare, but it really does not surprise me. After I used the screen emulator on the Mac mini, the servers NIC was still after a night out of use, going into 'green mode' even after I checked again if 'wakeup on lan activity' on the server was checked. On the other hand the emulator brought me well a whole day functioning without problems, something I was not having before. So that was a step forward.
I was using a Time Capsule 2009 as router in my home and have now changed this old router to a Ubiquiti Edgerouter X with an AP also from Ubiquiti. Problems are all disappeared now in changing this home hardware to a more enterprise and stabile router. Doing this upgrade to the network makes it clear that the old Time capsule had problems in routing everything to the correct client. And not only the Moment is functioning better on the network, all network devices are a lot smoother in lan using.
Now that I hear this from you, it looks the advice giving from Beocare is not so bad at all. I'm not saying yours, but in some cases it could. My router was 6 years of age.

mbolo01:In this particular case, when nothing but Moment software update has changed between two behaviors, a bad and a worst, suspicion should start with what has changed not with what is working, stable and supporting other services sensitive to network quality like audio & video streaming, NAS activity, Internet TV, VPN connection, etc.. And first observations after the latest update seem to confirm my initial diagnostic. I have had good and constructive exchanges with Beocare so far, except that they stopped responding to my tickets since I have reported the exact same issues with the replacement hardware they provided me. And to give you the full picture, I even changed my wireless access point, not to satisfy BeoCare but to strengthen my network for distant devices and this had no impact (not a surprise).

You are having it all absolutely right. Kindly surprised you not to get an answer anymore from Beocare. But I can understand the reaction to the router hardware that Beocare mentioned, there is so much crap on the market.
I had a very hard time telling my cable provider I just want a modem-only from them and not the crappy modem-router with AP they are normally installing in house. The technician from the cable company who was planning to install it looked at me as if I was someone from outer space when I was telling him 'no double NAT' and I need a tunnel for my job... He asked me whats a double NAT? After threatening that I would switch to the competition and many phone calls later he made I got my modem-only.

Sorry to hear that. I had to do a reset 2 days ago because I removed all old known mediareceivers in Twonky server. My playlist where lost.
I used the paperclip but that did not bring a immediate solution. Next thing I did was telling the Moment there is no DLNA server, and off powered it. Started Twonky server again without any media receivers visible, next started the Moment with the paperclip and waited till I saw the Moment appearing as a media receiver in Twonky's screen. Then I added again the DLNA server in the Moment, build up started...
Here's a screen how it looks now on Twonky. 7 is Soundheart, 8 = Jukebox
Hi Chris,
We had the same issue after the Moment software update 1.4 it seems, also running a Twonky Server on a Mac (Twonkey 8.1.2). I was able to restore services with almost the same procedure as you mention.
But what I recognise is that all Artist covers Twonkey/DLNA related are gone on the Moment Jukebox and also in the Beomusic app. Al album covers coming from the Twonky/DLNA are still there. Also all Artist covers from Deezer are there, do you face the same issue?
Thanks upfront
Kind Regards,
Erwin

Hi Erwin,
I had the exact same problem after the update.
I did a complete factory reset; to no avail.
Eventually what worked for me is to log out of Deezer, Connect to DLNA/Twonky server, rebuild the database and connect to Deezer again.
(Not sure if rebuilding the database is really necessary but I did that anyway).
Now all artists covers are back (album covers were always there), except for 2 (out of a three hundred or so artists). Hopefully they will reappear in the next couple of days (I had the same issue previously and it solved itself)
Hope this helps and let us know if this works for you as well.
Peter
PS: I do think B&O need to work on their update procedure; the result of all this is that my history is completely lost which is annoying for example in regards pattern play.

Hi Erwin
My apology, I do not understand your question well. Is it about the covers appearing from Gracenote.
After the 1.4 update , the Moment worked as it should. The mean reason I did the not really necessary reset, was in trying to get rid of the extra mediaservers Twonky showed in the media receivers window. So I pushed the button 'restore list' beneath Twonky's media receivers panel and noticed shortly afterwards that all playlist and music coming from DLNA was gone in the Moment. Oh great, done by that incompetent installer ( ... that was me off course )
Before doing a reset I logged out of Deezer, experience showed this method makes it a lot easier not to see the mixup from Deezer and DLNA albums in the Jukebox screen when doing a rebuild. It's a lot easier to follow the buildup of only your own music.
After the restore from playlist and albums there was no artist picture for Artist or playlist picture in the Jukebox screen, just a grey square. But after pushing the grey square from an Artist, album(s) from that Artist came up with the front picture correctly showing of the album itself. All of my Artist pictures came up again after the sign up procedure with Deezer. They coming from Gracenote and they probably only appear after you signed up in Deezer.
I do not know how everything developed towards the Beomusic app, no iPad was available at the time of renewal. I must say that I'm not an intensive user of the Beomusic app, I still don't like it because It is designed from a technological base, with far too little attention to the usage aspects.
I'm running Twonky server 8.0.3 (I do not found any advances in installing newer versions towards the Moment).
My answer is waiting approval
Since the update I have problems, too.
That's why I did a complete factory reset.
I choose my DNLA Qnap-Server during the installation process and the Beosound shows the Info, that the music library will be indexed. But the info is display for more than 24 hours an there is no music displayed. But the indexing is not finished.
Is it normal, that during the indexing there no music (except of deezer and tune in) ist displayed?
Well it seems my earlier post is 'Post Pending Moderation' and disappeared in the 'Cloud'.

It looks that the Moment 'hangs' in loading the music, happened also in here. Best is to to tell the Moment there is no DLNA server in settings, switch off the unit and do a paperclip reset, enter again your DLNA details.

Hi Peter & Chris
Analysing your both comments/guidance and the behavior from my Moment after the software update 1.4 I came to following:
Since the software update the Moment has the habit to advertise his self from the Soundhart to the Twonky server in multiple ways.
I saw him connected in the Mediareceivers as: Twonky@BeoSound-Moment-24406xxx type Twonky NMC, Generic Media Receiver type Generic Media Receiver (Also the Soundhart given MAC and IP) and from the Juke box also as an Generic Media Receiver.
My Solution which I was able to duplicate:
From there I had cover art shown nicely from Twonky and Deezer and the interface (GUI) feels more responsive then before Hope that helps.
@Peter guess your methode also works but long term if you don't blok The generic media receivers from the Moment to your Twonky server you can run in to trouble again (my experience). From Chris I saw that he also ge the Moment Jukebox access to the Twonky server Mediareceivers but in my opinion he gets his data from the Soundhart so I blocked it and it works.
Have a nice Sunday all
I noticed another rare behaviour on the ML/NL converters side. Not being part of the latest update, I had it before also. I just want confirmation if it's an isolated case or anyone else have it to. Although this is a difficult question, you must have a kind of equal setup as I have to try it.
In using the BEO4 and commanding my ML setup (passive amp in Kitchen) to play Pattern Play through the speakers, both ML and NL-link (V1-speakers Livingroom) starts to play.
This very strange same phenomena happens when I activate the BL2000 in the bathroom on Pattern Play, the NL-link part is always activated together.
It does not feel very comfortable for somebody who is watching television at that very moment. When activating Pattern Play somewhere in the ML-link the picture disappears and its switching to Pattern Play on the television screen.
All of this is not happening when I send a command from the remote to the ML-link to play radio or music. Something to ask Beocare, I suppose...
