is it worth to buy a beosound moment at this time?
Yes, i think so
Probably worth waiting for everything as they'll probably want to start from scratch and build again with reliability and consistency - anything that's great is worth waiting for :)
When I first read Chris' post reading "a company from California" I immediately thought of Apple, but then again, there are a lot of other good software houses in my current home state.
I hope this will be a good move for the Moment, and B&O as a brand. Success with SW is key to move forward and gain customers in this day and age.

That's true, do you know something about the software that's coming in a few weeks? Will there be a delay, also for the multiroom.. Or will there be changes for the future updates ?
Someone wrote once in this forum that B&O products are great buy in their MkII release. So frustrating to see it again with Moment's software.

I use my Moment every day, and i am very happy with it.. But i miss something as easy like search function in more than one letter... But i know this will come in the next update..
But at the end i am very satisfied with the Moment
Sal, maybe HP are helping with software now??? I was hoping that Apple would help but I don't think they need to do work outside of Apple, I guess that they have enough on their plate! Plus I guess now that B&O are helping HP with speakers, Apple aren't exactly going to be over fond of B&O now!

vlohjr1:Sometimes bo just baffles me I just read the newspaper that the Bose soundtouch music system has multiroom, deezer, spotlight and net radio all in one compact box and probably a fraction of the price of the moment!
There are many devices on the market like Bose Soundtouch. You can't compare it with the Moment, because you always NEED A PAD. With the Moment you DON'T.
That's why the Moment is unique. Of course, some "mainfeatures" are missing right now (multiroom, a better search function), but if B&O can handle that kind of software issues the Moment is a stand alone device without the need of an other computer (in common sense).
The price is high, but you get a control pad too....
Is it worth the money to replace the beosound 5?
koning: Is it worth the money to replace the beosound 5?
Yes, i did it and don't regret it..
mmm.....the software definitely needs some more work.
The default music view is via artist. The only problem with this is that the Moment insists on using downloaded images from the net, mostly correct but not always, and a lot of the time it cannot find an image. Even when the music server has embedded album images as in the BS5/ BM5 it does not use these butseems to load a lo-res pixellated image from the net. This would all be ok if your musical taste are limited to mainstream artists. At the moment I am not impressed. I think the user should be able to select appropriate artist & album images rather than some fairly dumb software - I think I know a lot more about my music collection than the Moment.
Duels:Norman It would be very interesting to hear your particular reasons/ experiences that make you prefer the Moment.
It would be very interesting to hear your particular reasons/ experiences that make you prefer the Moment.
First off all it's very easy in use.. Just one click and it play what you like to listen to, for instans at the morning before work the favourite radio station plays in the background. I also uses Dezeer a lot, just one touch and play the music for the right mood you are in..
And i think the sound quality is really good too..
Of course it's needs some modifications in the software, with better search function (full integration with a Dezeer app) and multiroom...
But again this will soon come, hopefully
Is it possible to use deezer (the one year free account)when you buy a secondlife beosound moment.
Hi there,
since last week I am a proud owner of the BS Moment and I am starting to grow really fond of this device. Thanks to Hiort, MM, Chris and Norman I decided to replace my almost 20 year old Ouverture. The old "Beauty" is still in a perfect working condition, but I don't have any Tapes anymore and the time for using CD's is almost over, since I have to move a lot and the whole collection is on a Harddrive (NAS). Even listening to a favorite Radiostation became a little bit difficult, because the frequencies weren't stable enough. In the last years my Ouverture became more and more furniture - an eyecatcher for the Kids of my friends.
Without this forum I would have never considered to buy the Moment. My wife called it a failed Landscape iPod, a brick and there was almost the same disappointment about the design after it was presented on the CES. No Glass, no sliding doors - no magic - period!
I disagree. The magic lies behind the tablet-like Design. The Idea of having the cloud (TuneIN, Deezer) combined with your own collection in one device - no- in one Moodwheel - is just revolutionary. Listen to your music - it's only a fingertipp away.
I have to admit, there were some difficuties on the way to get this piece to work. The Manual isn't worth the paper. Since I got from BeoCare answers like. "Don't know something about your problem, don't care and please ask your dealer - so I don't have to read your Mail explaining your whole setup", I am affraid the Moment will be a device only for Customers willing to read everything about it in this forum. There should be a manual with sections like, "How to prepare your digital Music-Collection" (size, general genres, artists, cover.., to explain, how the Moment is "reading and processing your files" and "What should you do, if you face problems like..."
One example. I did the easy first-start-setup by myself and crashed a wall only after 1 minute. Choose language - check, Country - check, keyboard -check, WLAN - check. "Sorry can not find the soundheart" - crash. After talking with my dealer, getting a replacement and crashing again at the same point - my dealer got a great idea. Maybe there is something wrong with your network. The solution was to change the 6 year old Name of my Network (e.g. "Lost & Found" to LostFound). The Soundheart can not link to the Jukebox, if your WLAN-Network-SSID includes any special charakters or spaces. Therefore, there must be a section "How to configure your WLAN" as well.
I use my Moment with a Netlink NL/ML Converter, because I still own a Beovision 8-40. My BeoLab 18, BeoLab 4000 & Sub are connected to this TV. I faced the same problem like Norman. I could not adjust the Volume (not on the Moment, not in the App). It worked only over the BeoRemote One. But - If I decided to switch the source eg. Radio to Music, the whole soundsytem and later my neighbours were yelling at me, because the remote allowed any volume-adjustment only after 1 minute waiting time. The Converter was configured as B&O recommends. BeoCare sent me a "answer" without reading my question. The work arround was "Live with it, lower the standard volume level and ask your dealer" Now I know after my try and error process and reading almost everything in this forum - if you switch the Masterlink-Modus in the converter from AV-Masterlink to A-Masterlink - any trouble disappears. The moment reacts as advertised, adjusting volume on the device, App, Remote - not a problem anymore. Don't forget to restart the Converter after you changed the configuration. If you change the Name of your Device in the setup from BeoSound Moment 12345678 to BeoSound you should have a look in the configuration sheet in the converter again. You should mapp the sources (Radio, A-Mem, CD, A-Aux, N-Music to Radio, Patternplay, Music, Line-In, Bluetooth) for the device again, them you can use your BeoRemote One to switch the sources properly. Your New Remote should be set to the product Beo4AV in a configuration like mine.
Sometimes it needs Days before the artist covers starts to show up. I think this "delay" depends on the size of your collection. even if you put the right cover of a album in every file, some Album Cover will be wrong, because the Gracenote-Database has it own flaws too. Funny to find a christmas album with the same cover like the album from Christina Milan...
There a still some software-flaws in the Moment, but I have to say, if B&O puts more effort in their BeoCare-Online-Support and in a real!! manual, this device would be a Bestseller like the new Avant or the A2. I am really happy with my dealer. He is still my first Helpdesk and very informed - but in some cases he needs the qualified answer from the B&O-HQ too. Pointing the customer back to the dealer, even after he tried everything, shouldn't be the next best way of practice.
After all - there is still magic in Bang & Olufsen. Only a fingertipp away.
@ koning: there is a deezer voucher in every Moment Box. if you buy a second life Moment, you should ask about the voucher. If the previous owner never redeemed it, you can still use the voucher for a free 1-year-deezer-subscription.
Excellent post Beroli. I agree with your comment re beocare - a pity for a premium brand. When is Tue going to fix it ?
Thx Beroli
I have almost the same set-up.Can you tell me the configuration of the cables.
@ koning
- Masterlink cable BV8-40 to NL/ML Converter
- RJ45cable from NL/ML Converter to separate switch
- RJ45cable from moment to the same switch
- all speakers are connected to the BV8-40
NL/ML Converter Set to factory settings, dhcp, ML active, set a A-Master, restart (pull power cord)
start the setup of the moment , choose speaker connected to a TV,
go in the configuration Page of the Converter, you willfi d your moment + Serial-Number
do the mapping like i wrote above (CD - Beo Moment - Music ...)
Done!
Forgot, RJ45 cable from switch to ISP-Router

In my opinion, we all should cut B&O some slack and give the BS Moment a fair start.
There are some inconvenient restrictions in the Interface and even in the BeoMusic-App. But in some cases the hands of B&O are tied. For example, if you want to create a Deezer-Playlist you have to do it in the Deezer-App or their homepage. Why? It is important for any social-Media-App to stay in touch with their customers. If they don't show up on "their doorstep" from time to time, because they can do/change every feature in a foreign app (like BeoMusic) the original App will become more and more useless. Deezer and TuneIn are not willing to allow 3rd party-Devices to integrate every feature, because it's their livelihood. When you keep this in mind, you can live with the fact, that the Moment-Radio-Channels offered by TuneIn don't show what is playing right now. For the same reason - B&O should never start to sell their BeoMusic-App or the Moodwheel without a connection to a recent B&O-Hardware. Yes it would be nice for every Beo-Nerd like me, but in the end - the B&O-Hardware is putting the food on the table for their employees and shareholders as well. We should respect that. We are living in a demanding world. The craftsmenship of the BeoSound Moment is not as obvious, as in the BS9000 or the Ouverture, but it is still there. In the wooden wheel, the aluminum, the design and the finish. For example: If you want to enter the settings-menu, the only thing you have to do is lifting a small magnetic plate on the back and you are in. Simple and fantastic. I agree with the recent owners in this forum. You have to give it a try and you will never regret it. B&O should do something regarding the fingerprints. They should improve the search function - the recent search is lousy and ill-placed in the GUI.
BTW: The WAF is growing too, my wife likes the one-Button-start and she is pressing the favorite button in the BeoMusic-App like hell.
Even If I sound like a Beo-Fanboy:
I like the Moment. I could cheer and grin the whole day. What a great device with a great potential.

I totally agree
I remember when i had the encore - the store gave me a document that they produced themselves (i think) with how to do some things
Back then the documentation wasn't that good either that came with as it didn't properly show you how to connect your NAS if it didn't come up.
It seems you're happy that you persevered with the Moment, i wish you every success with your purchase :-)
Thanks, Beroli.
After reading all the feedback on the device "everyone" loves to hate in other threads I started to believe the negative hype, but still I replaced my BS 5 with the Moment earlier this month. And what a blessing!
The user interface of the BS5 was elegant and fancy, but not as easy to understand the first time you approach it as the one on the Moment. My significant other looked at the BeoRemote One and said: the Moment is EASY to understand and use. The volume control is sensitive and accurate enough, but the issue of no volume readback on the display (same for the BS5) when the speakers are connected to the telly remain a minor challenge for me.
I love my old BeoMaster 1900 (thanks to Lee and the BeoWorld Lottery a few years back), and the Moment provides the same tactile pleasure as it mixes wood and aluminum. A touch of the original B&O DNA brought to life. I have read the concerns regarding the round edges of the display compared to the square panel itself, but this is no issue to my eyes. I like how it is small enough to fit on the coffee table, the coach and in my hand - while still being large enough to provide me with the essential information I demand. Clever design.
I picked mine up after the May sw release, so I did not have to deal with some of the early errors (I guess) and integrated it with an Avant with WISA connected speakers. It just worked out of the box - went through the questions, did what I was told (quick start up timers on the telly etc) and it has worked flawlessly ever since: no drop outs, single touch to access entertainment and a design that is easy on the eye.
It's been a long time since I have been this happy with a B&O product.

@ Roger
I totaly agree. Today, I checked the device table in my router configuration, I was not surprised to find the Jukebox there - marked as a android-device. My conclusion is, that B&O choose a practical way and decided to implement a comon Tablet as a screen to save some R&D & Production-Costs. Therfore the round edges. I don't know any tablet-manufacturer with actual "corners".
Roger:I picked mine up after the May sw release,
Congrats to you Roger.
Indeed they give the Moment a intensive upgrade in May. Things are a lot bettered now, especially the volume sensitivity and startup & stop sequence.
It really starts to be a serious music system... I enjoy it everyday!

Can I stream my iPhone / iPad to the moment to replace my AirPlay device? Will the moment pass light commands to the gateway? Cheer all

Its working with a ML/NL converter, but with the Gateway ???
You need the ML/NL converter for multiroom over ML, and also in need of a master in the ML line. Could be a TV or probably a converter (No NL based).
NL + ML functioning together is expected in week 25 with a new Moment update. I ask the dealer tomorrow how the Moment is functioning with the Gateway, now or in future.
@Seanie_230
Have a look at page 16 in the Installation Guide, that was published here:
http://archivedforum2.beoworld.org/forums/t/15437.aspx
I guess, that this is the setup, that you are looking for.
As long as there is a ML-master in the setup, you are good to go.....if you have the NL/ML Converter installed.
I don't know, how the ML Gateway will behave - this might even change with the coming SW update for NL.
MM
There is a tv - and there is a BV
Seanie_230:Hi all Can I stream my iPhone / iPad to the moment to replace my AirPlay device? Cheer all
You can't airplay to the Moment....unless you connect an AirPlay device to the line-in of it.
Note: the line-in connection has auto-sense - which means, that you get sound, when you start using, what is connected to the line-in connection.
But you could also - in the same way - connect an AirPlay device to the NL/ML Converter!
You probably already have an ATV on the ML-tv - this can be used local, and only local.
Chris:Roger:I picked mine up after the May sw release,Congrats to you Roger.
