My dealer told me that there are some problems with the beosound moment connecting with a nassever.
is this correct?
I have a qnap nasserver and i want to be sure it will work
Nobody with a Qnap?
I guess it is more a question of the DLNA server running, than of the actual NAS model.
Has the Qnap a Twonky server installed, or can you install the version, that is suggested/provided from B&O on it?
MM
There is a tv - and there is a BV
I have combined the Moment with a Synology DS214+ and it works fine, even without Twonky or the like. I simply copied my entire iTunes collection to the NAS' media server. Even my iTunes Playlists function well although that took a little more work.
Seanie_230:Hi there The manual shows that it can be connected to a ML TV Can it be connected to a ML TV but in another room as the manual shows its setup in the same room with speakers connected to the TV I would like to replace my audio master which is in another room to the TV Any news from the dealer when you went to see Cheers all BLGW - Rekindling the love of ML

Yes.
with the beosound 5 it works perfect.

I guess, you should wait for the coming update (and for the 'little-black-solution', that w5bno123 mentioned above).
Many of your question will be answered then.
And we won't have to start every sentence with a 'as far as we now know' or 'it is supposed to be....'.
But - yes, you can connect BeoLab's to the NL/ML Converter. If you connect an ir-eye, you can use it just like how you probably know from an 'Active Link', and listen to the sound from the sources of the ML-master. N.B. it has a line-in connection as well, that can be used as a local source (a turntable or whatever with a line-level output).
Seanie_230: I think this may be the start of ML disappear
I think this may be the start of ML disappear
Why?
If you have an already installed ML-infrastructure, you can just keep on using it.
Dear JoostdenEngelsman & dear Chris
could you please point me in the right direction? I created some playlists (*.m3u) by myself, but I don´t see them on my moment. The Moment is showing/playing my musicfiles from the NAS (Synology 412+). My file-structure is exactly the same like Chris described it in his post (even the m3u-File is stored in the same folder), but I have no glue, why it doesn´t work.
I don´t want to use the twonky-server on my iMac, because I would prefer a stand alone NAS-BS Moment-Solution.
Thank you in advance for your help.
Beroli, viewed with a texteditor my *.m3u files has this structure on the iMac. If your using a NAS, I suppose the readable directory structure would be different from the OSX example beneath: /Users/Music/Classic Rock/Artist/Album/song.xxx
I guess this will be a question for an owner of Synology Nas's to find out how to fill in the correct directory structure in the m3u file to get it readable on the Moment. In a quick search on the net using a phrase "Synology drive/folder structure", I found it has to be looking like this: M:\Music\Classic Rock\Artist\Album\song.xxx
Secondly, how did you create your playlist from your Nas, with VLC, Foobar, WMP... Is it pointed correctly with the software you have been used?
If you have a correctly pointed m3u playlist and the Moment is still not finding it, could it be a problem of not using Twonky on the Nas? Here you find install files for Twonky on your Nas: http://www.twonkyforum.com/downloads/

Hi Chris,
thank you very much for your help and your advices to solve my issue.
I created the Playlist-Files with VLC. I imported the files directly from my NAS into the VLC-Player and exported them as a m3u-Playlist. then I copied the m3u-File in the same directory as shown on your Screenshot. But I will have a look into the File with a text-editor. Maybe something is wrong with the Playlist itself.
Unfortunately there is no Twonky-Server for the Synology 412+. Twonky stoped the support for some Synology NAS after a major OS-Update from Synology some years ago. And almost like with Apple - there is no way back to a old OS-Version - even if you want to. Therefore I have to find a solution without a Twonky-Server. The DLNA-Music-Server from Synology is quite fast and very reliable. The Moment shows the files and the covers, but not the Playlists.
Thank you again for your help, I will keep you posted about the progress.
Cheers

I have Twonky running on my Mac, but all music files is on my Synology NAS DS-212J. That is originally my iTunes library.
That works fine. I initially used the DLNA music server on Synology, but I had a few problems with that, including having the file extensions shown when Moment was showing the song titles. Look here: http://archivedforum2.beoworld.org/forums/t/14085.aspx

Dear Beroli, If you created a playlist with VLC not on the Nas itself, but from your network it will not work.
If I do that the m3u file gives me a directory structure: /Volumes/Music/Classic Rock/Artist/Album/song.xxx which is not the correct path, its a network path. If I place this m3u file on my server the Moment will never find the music because its not the correct path.
Chris
@ Chris
aah I understand, I thought the moment needs the networkpath to access the musicfiles - thats why I created it in this way. I will try your advice. thanks a lot and have a nice day.
@ hiort
First - thank you for starting this thread. One of the reasons I decided to buy the Moment.
Yes I red about the file extension issue in your post - but this would be only a cosmetic issue for me. ;-)
My priorities are slightly different. Yes I could use the Twonky-Server on the Mac and access the files from the NAS, but for this solution- it is mandatory to keep the Mac always on. You know - men are always toying with their software - but their wifes prefer it, when everything is working instantly - without checking the mac/running software-servers...
Maybeeeeeeee all of this will be fixed with the upcomming major update
:-)))
Your wife needs an update
@ MM
you had to take this free-kick [:-)]
But I am sure you knew, that I meant the upcomming major-update from B&O. There is no need for any update in other areas.

Does anyone else have the file extension issue with their Synology NAS?
Beroli,
What worked for me was to delete all information in the path but for the artist name, album, track etc. The dealer did it for me using a Microsoft computer as editing the m3u file on a iMac didn't seem to work.
good luck!

BeoSound Moment: How to move iTunes Playlists to a NAS?

How to move iTunes Playlists to a NAS drive for use by Moment
1) Export the Playlists (one by one) from iTunes:
2) Edit (e.g. with Notepad++) the Playlists files as shown in the attached *.m3u files.
Extract of original Playlist file:
#EXTM3U#EXTINF:220,Always In My Head - ColdplayD:\Music\Coldplay\Ghost Stories\01 Always In My Head.mp3#EXTINF:288,Magic - ColdplayD:\Music\Coldplay\Ghost Stories\02 Magic.mp3#EXTINF:232,Ink - ColdplayD:\Music\Coldplay\Ghost Stories\03 Ink.mp3
Extract of Playlist file edited for use on the NAS:
#EXTM3U#EXTINF:220,Always In My Head - ColdplayColdplay\Ghost Stories\01 Always In My Head.mp3#EXTINF:288,Magic - ColdplayColdplay\Ghost Stories\02 Magic.mp3#EXTINF:232,Ink - ColdplayColdplay\Ghost Stories\03 Ink.mp3
3) Copy the edited *.m3u files to the MUSIC folder of the NAS drive:
The added playlists should then show up under the 'Playlists' entry on BeoSound Moment after a some minutes.
If the new playlists for some reason shouldn't show up, then use "DLNA -> Force Check for new content" as described at page 37 in BeoSound Moment Installation Guide
Hi all again
I have just downloaded Deezer to my ipad and logged in with my normal acconut and i have things like Top Playlists.
With the bang and Olufsen account it would appear that this is not there.
How can you follow playlists???

Open Deezer on your computer, view Top Playlists, open the playlist you favorite, add the list to your Deezer ♥ playlists..
Push playlist on your Moment's Jukebox after a couple of minutes, and it will appears on your B&O Moment's playlists window. Done!
My bird give a whistle:
Moment's Multiroom upgrade definitely confirmed in week 25, together with a significant update for a much better search function.
Will it be possible to have both multiple NL + ML playing at the same time, it remains an open question. It will certainly be possible to have dedicated NL sources playing together, my birdie couldn't whistle if the NL/ML converter will be accepted in this chain.

Now we are talking - maybe even interesting for a 'dedicated album listener' like me after that!
@ Chris and JoostdenEngelsman
thank you booth for your specific and detailed informations. I will try over this weekend.
The only really annoying thing is, that the BeoSound Moment needs almost 1,5 days to read the Filestructure on the NAS (about 34k Tracks).
The other thing is, even when the whole progressing is over, that the BS Moment is mixing up all the Covers.
For example.
If you are listening to Eric Clapton/Pilgrim and you start to scroll to any other Album (e.g.) Eric Clapton/Reptile, the BS Moment will attach the Clapton-Pilgrim-Cover to the Clapton/Reptile-Cover or to any other Artist you decide to have a look on. even Even if you stop the song and you scroll down to e.g. Shakira. The Shakira-Album will show the Pilgrim-Cover as well.
This is a serious bug. Even after a restart the wrong attached covers are still there and there are no possibilities to refresh only the cover and force the BS Moment to import the real cover of the file.

I don't really follow you here. You are browsing on the Jukebox? If I listen to a song, I have no problems browsing other albums, and the covers shown are correct. Only problem is that its really easy to by accident select another album or track,
Sorry english is not my mother language. But I will try again ;-)
Every music file of mine includes a 500x500 Album-Cover. Every Streaming Device excluding the Momets is showing them correctly.
I waited till the moment had finished the progressing of my Music-Files (checked sign).
But after the Import most of my Albums don´t show any cover. The Moment inserts them in the first time I enter the Artist.
And here comes the issue. The first Cover is always right. But when I am continue browsing on the Jukebox and if I open any artist/album, the Moment will attach the Cover from the first showed/played Album instead of importing the Cover from the shown file.

Strange. You should report that to beocare. Make sure to have some pictures when you write to them. That has helped me to explain problems.
After the first impressions with my new BS Moment and some "Light"reading, I tried something different. Some of us own a NAS without any Twonky-Server-Compatibility. In my case a Synology 412+.
Most of you are writing, that the Moment is working better with a Twonky-Server. But I didn´t like the idea of installing a Twonky-Server on my Mac. For this it is mandatory that the Mac is allways on.
Therefore I bought a Raspberry Pi 2 and installed the Twonky-Media-Server on this Device. It took me some days/nights to figure out, how the OS (Raspbian) is working - but in the end I succeeded. :-)
My "TwonkyBerry", a device in a size of a cigarette box is easy to hide and is now able to boot without any connections to a keyboard or a TV. The only Cables you will need, after the configuration/installation of the Raspberry Pi 2, is a Power- and a LAN-cable. During the Boot-process the "TwonkyBerry" is mounting my network-shares on my Synology and is starting the Twonky-Media-Server. Even after of a power-failure, the device will boot again including network-shares and Media-Server. If I want to do some maintenance, I can use the Twonky Media Configuration Page (http://IP_Address_TwonkyBerry_Pi: 9000) on my browser.
Today I pointed my BS-Moment to the DLNA-"TwonkyBerry" and tested the device with about 400 Music-Files. It worked flawless. Covers, Playlists (thank you Chris & JoostdenEngelsman) Now I will try it with some more Musicfiles ;-) and i will keep you all informed.
Cheers Beroli

Fantastic news, that is a project I wanted to try after the summer season. All info would be helpfull.
Chris: Fantastic news, that is a project I wanted to try after the summer season. All info would be helpfull.
Agree,
Would definetily would like to try.
I assume that you do not tie up the NAS this way, to Twonky / Raspberry only. I have my movie collection in there as well, so iTunes is accessing the NAS as well.
Even with >26k of Music, it works flawless and quick, even the issue I had with the Covers provided by the Synology-Media-Server and misplaced by the BS-Moment - All gone.
@ Hiort, Chris
since I intended to use the "TwonkyBerry" only as a "crutch" for the BS-Moment, I shared only my Music-Files to the "Twonky-Media-Server" on the Raspberry Pi 2. The Synology-NAS is completely uninfected and still provides Videos/Music/Photos over the integrated Synology Media-Server I just created a Read-only user on the NAS with the rights to see only the Music-Volume. I mounted the network-share "Music" to the Folder /mnt/twonky on the "TwonkyBerry" with the new restricted user. Then I chooses this folder (which is now linked to the network-share) in the Twonky Media Configuration Page (Settings), saved the configuration, forced the Twonky-Server to refresh the database, choosed the "TwonkyBerry"-Server on the Moment and waited about 14 Hours till the processing was finally finished.
There are a lot of manuals, blogs, videos in the Internet for installing a twonky-Server on a Raspberry. But unfortunately these instructions have their flaws, since Raspbian is fast changing OS. Some of them won´t work anymore. I faced a lot of troubles to activate the ethernet connection/to mount the network-share during the Boot-process. Finally not all instructions for a silent start of the Twonky media Server, after a Power loss are working. My result is therefore an Mixture of instructions and in some way of my own try and errors-process. It was like writing a autoexec.bat or cmd-Files in my teenage-Days. Since I knew nothing about Linux - it took a while to get acquainted with the text editors. I´m sure there are some "Nerds" out there, who think that it is an easy task.
But - I will provide instructions of the whole setup including the configuration as soon as possible. But I will do this in my holiday, after the upcoming Update for the BS-Moment. I don´t want to invest time in a manual and B&O is changing something fundamental regarding the way to read/process the files from a DLNA-Server.
One Flaw is still there. The Titles in my Playlists (only) are shown on the BS_Moment in a wrong order (Title 10, Titel 09, Title 08... instead of 01,02,03...). All other devices are showing proper Playlists in the right order. I could change the Order in the Playlists, but then it is wrong in every other Streaming Device except the Moment. It does not bother me a lot, since I am used to listen to the Titles of my Playlists in a random order. By double tapping on the Playlist (e.g. Blues) on the Moment.
Very interested too!
Beroli: Most of you are writing, that the Moment is working better with a Twonky-Server. But I didn´t like the idea of installing a Twonky-Server on my Mac. For this it is mandatory that the Mac is allways on.
Beroli, this is awesome, can you post (if and when you have time of course), some detailed instructions about how to configure a Raspberry Pi device for use with the Moment as you have done. I have ZERO experience with that little wonder, though I've seen them used in a wide variety of uses.
Additionally, you comment above that you have to have a MAC on at all times.. I realize that the Raspberry Pi is relatively inexpensive compared to a MAC, but had you considered a used MAC Mini to serve that purpose? My wife and I purchased a last-gen Mac Mini to serve up network shares and run Twonky 24/7. Plus, it is connected to the BV11 via an HDMI cable and can be operated via a Beo4 (using RemoteBuddy for OSX) - basically uses the Apple TV PUC. We can manipulate files, use the mouse, surf the net, as well as obviously, use the Mini as our DVD player in addition to burner and server.
Your solution is indeed elegant, having one device doing just one thing. I love it. I hope that you can pose the instructions for those of us who want to try that ourselves. We're a Mac only household here, so did you do the software installation on the Pi from your Mac?
Beroli:But - I will provide instructions of the whole setup including the configuration as soon as possible. But I will do this in my holiday, after the upcoming Update for the BS-Moment. That is very kind of you and it will be greatly appreciated by me and probably also Hiort. But don't hurry take your time for it. As I told in my earlier answer, for me starting with this project will be way after the summer season. When days are shorten and trees lose their leaves...
Qnap has a build in twonky server.
it works perfect on my beosound5
