A very welcome update. The child is growing up very fast now, at B&O they are really doing their best.
Hi,
any major software improvements on the BS Moments are good news. I am really looking forward to any updates and I want to help. Sometimes it takes hours to submit a error log to B&O. Hopefully the 'child' grows faster, when B&O is finally able to receive/read/react to these error logs.
in the most BS-Moment issues I have found a workarround - but it would be great to use the device as B&O advertised it in the beginning - without having a office clip placed beside the BS Moment.
Cheers Beroli
Yes, I have already tried that, but it's still the same - the Moment is always playing the last song.... No Pattern Play any more...
andyace75: Yes, I have already tried that, but it's still the same - the Moment is always playing the last song.... No Pattern Play any more...
- if the song is one from the Deezer Database, try to remove the song from your favorites.
- I experienced the same issue like you. The reason was a altered playlist on Deezer. the BS Moment / patternplay couldn't "move on" because some songs were "greyed out" in Deezer.
- remove the back-plate go to "Add your content"/"DLNA" and press "force check for new content"
- if the patternplay won't come back, unfortunately you have to refresh your database - the pattern has to be build up from the scratch again - unfortunately.
Thats why I would strongly recommend that B&O integrates a backup-solution to save the pattern database.

Giraffe:After following this thread for quite a while I figured that the Moment is maturing in terms of usability. I therefore recently joined the Moment owner's club. After installing the device yesterday I tried to quickly update to the most recent firmware. However, when pressing the update button I am immediately receiving an error message saying that the update failed and that I should try again. After a dozen or so repetitive trials I figured that I should wait for the nightly automatic update. Unfortunately there was no update this morning, either. Internet connectivity is surely there, being able to stream via Deezer and TuneIn. My software version is: 1.0.9.935- . Any ideas? Giraffe

Hi Giraffe,
try to do a factory reset and afterwards the first setup-routine again. It seems the update won't work, because the BS Moment has no real connection to the Bang Olufsen software server
Factory Reset (via Settings menu)
Factory Reset is recommended to be done using the Settings menu, as follows:
- Remove Socket cover.
- Select Reset.
- Press Reset.
- After a while the First time setup wizard starts requesting for ‘Choose language’ etc.
Factory Reset (via buttons)
- Remove Socket cover
- Press the Wireless Speaker button and the Network button simultaneously for 5 s. Meanwhile all LEDs will be solid for 5 s and then turn Off (Mute LED is not involved).
The BeoSound Moment interface (Jukebox) will display a message indicating that factory reset is being performed. Prerequisite to this is that the BeoSound Moment interface (Jukebox) has connection to the BeoSound Moment hub (SoundHeart) via the home router/AP.
if my previous post won´t work, here are some more tipps
If you are connected over wifi, connect your BS Moment with a Ethernet-Cable to your Router after you have done the factory reset.
If the update fails again, ask your dealer to provide a update via USB /service-tool (see page 57 BS Moment Installation Guide)
Software to the BeoSound Moment hub (SoundHeart) is possible in 3 ways:
- Update automatically or manually as set up or operated via the menus on the tablet display. If at all possible this method should be used.
- LAN Update.
- USB Update

I am pretty sure it is a known issue with your software-version. I just remembered I had a sheet of paper in my BS-Moment-Box from B&O for my Dealer. It described exactly your problem and recommended a factory reset. But I gave the memo to my Dealer and forgot about it - until now. So I can not rephrase the exact wording of the memo

Been trying to use my Moment with Deezer (the main reason I bought it) and what with getting half a keyboard on the B&O app, and with the unit only allowing me to search by the first letter input, it is basically useless. I have spent an hour trying to sort out, without finding what I want to listen to, and rather than being relaxed by music, any interaction with this this has the totally opposite effect on me. I will try the update next week, and if that doesn't work, it will be going back in the box.

Hi Justin9960,
have you updated your BS Moment and the BeoMusic App? Since the last BS Moment update you can use a full text search for Deezer/TuneIn only just by double-tap on the "Discover"-Button. The terrible One-first-capital-search only apears, if you double-tap on the "artists/Playlist/"-Button - this search is only for your content on your NAS/DLNA-Server. But since you only want to use Deezer it will really work for sure.
When I want to add music from Deezer I use always their App, because it is quicker and easier then with the Moment. But it works on the BS Moment as well.
even the 2.0 BeoMusic App allows you to add and to search Music. There are no restrictions regarding the keyboard.
Hi Beroli, hank you very much for your reply. I have updated my app, and I have the current version of software on the Moment. I have tried and tried with this thing, but each time I use it it just annoys the hell out of me with its constant shortcomings. Trying to back it as quite frankly it's unfit for purpose. Thanks for your time though, very much appreciated.
Raeuber:If you read all 653 posts of this thread you realize most of these posts are dealing with problems and software bugs of the Moment, trials to find solutions and waiting for software updates. I think the Moment is the worst product ever, B&O should discontinue it at once and give a refund to all customers. With this product B&O will shovel his own grave!RegardsRäuber

Hi
yesterday B&O rolled out a new update for the BS-Moment. Usually it is a sign of improvement and I was really looking forward.
First impression. Everything feels smoother and quicker. Yeah! Great! - my mind shouted - but a while later I got a very cold shower.
Most of my Playlists are now missing on the BS Moment? I have about 68 Playlists (Genres like Alternative...Blues, Rock, Classical... to Unplugged) on the Twonky-Server - now on the BS-Moment (after the update) - I am down to 13 Playlists. I tried several restarts (BS-Moment, Soundheart, Jukebox, Mac, Twonky-Server), I refreshed the Twonky-Server. Used my Paper-clip several times. Summary: nothing worked - 68 Playlists are still on the Twonky-Server - Every DLNA-Mediaplayer can access/play every Playlist from this Server - but the Moment shows only 13 of 68 Playlists.
I could punch something/someone. I am not amused anymore.
B&O wrote, that they did something with the playlists in this update. I was hoping they fixed the issue with the wrong order of the music-tracks. But no - they didn´t! They arranged the common Playlists, like "Highly Rated" "Most/Last Played" ... into the alphabetical order and erased most of the Twonky-Server-playlists from the BS-Moment in the process.
What I can´t fathom is the fact, that B&O can make it worse. Is anybody testing the updates in advance? Now - I am forced to do a complete Database-refresh. I will lose my pattern play and I have to start again. Tomorrow - because it needs more than a Day to process the Twonky-Server.
At least - now you can submit a error log to B&O, without crashing the device. Maybe B&O should implement a "ask for refund" - button.
The next issue/bug I experienced is in the new BeoMusic App 2.0. B&O fixed the issue, that the Playlist-tracks weren´t shown in the app. Now you can choose tracks from the playlist and start/play them. But someone of the B&O-staff forgot to program a line to move to the next track, after the chosen track ended. Now I can listen to 1 (one!) track of the playlist started from the App - then I have to choose the next track manually. Isn´t this "great"?
Directly on the BS-Moment you can start/shuffle the (same) playlist and listen to all tracks without any stops after the first track. of course - after yesterdays update I have no pressure anymore to choose from a bigger variety of playlists.
With deepest regrets Beroli
I sympathise with you for your issues.
You are however one step ahead of me. My B&O Moment is so dim witted and incompetent (under delovloped) that it cannot even manage to perform the update. Constant failure, and does nothing but provide disappointment and frustration each time I try to use it. I feel as though I should be getting paid by B&O to help develop the short comings of its own product.
TO ALL PEOPLE CONSIDERING PURCHASING A B&O MOMENT, DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY, IT SIMPLY DOESN'T WORK!!
I still wonder, why it works with some people and not with others ❓

Dear Beroli,
I really sympathize you and appreciate your huge efforts in trying to help everybody else, BIG thanks!
I was waiting for the this weeks update and your response on that before buying.
My decision is that I'll keep on living without Moment for the moment.
I have an Avant 55 and thus the Moment COULD have beena better solution for me than the nice and simple Essence (which, however, can't play through the speakers connected in the Avant). But now I guess I'll just live with Spotify/Smart-TV in the Avant; even though the app in the Avant is clumsy, it is not too bad after all, as it is relatively convenient to create new playlists with your iPhone and they appear in the Avant and then you just use your BeoremoteOne and select your playlist. Even the Avant screen turns off by itself.
Similarly, it is rather ok to use HomeMedia in the Avant for music.
It would just somehow feel nicer to play music without actually opening the screen in the Avant, to have an separate device for playing music, but, hey, maybe after 6 months or so...
All good things

Hi MM,
everytime when there are complaints about shortcomings of B&O, regarding this Sound-System you ask the same question.
Why? It isn't helping!
It is a sad fact, that the DLNA/NAS functions on the BS Moment never worked properly. The device should have never been pushed in the market so early - or B&O should have advertised the BS Moment as a Deezer-Streaming Device only. Now they have to face angry customer complaints. Some owners use the Moment just for Deezer and therefore they are happy. But I am sure they had to face anoying bugs as well. There is - for sure - no customer without any several major complaints. I spoke with some dealers. They aren't happy with the customer feedback. They are afraid to sell it.
I had to buy a Mac mini, just to get the possibility to listen to my music. The BS Moment needs a Twonky-Server - a usual NAS, won't work - if you want to have covers, playlists - the right order of tracks.... Even with this Server, the Moment needs to be restarted, refreshed, reseted on a mostly daily/weekly basis, caused by software glitches in the device. i can not even browse trough my music on the jukebox - because if I do so - after a while- it crashes.Even if you use only deezer - it crashes. I had situations, that the display was showing a different titles on the mood-wheel, on the now playing screen and another different title on the BeoMusic App - at the same time! You couldn't send error logs to B&O, because if you tried it in the past, the device crashed. Some times, when I lifted the backplate, I had to watch over error messages caused by Deezer.
I bought the Moment to have the pattern play, to listen to music, to have the mood wheel - but now I should be happy, if it works for only some days, or if I hear music after I pressed a button. With the yesterdays update - my pattern and playlists are gone. I spent hours on this device. Usually I am a tech-nerd - I like challenges - but not, if it is for something trivial like - listening to music.
The last updates were for Deezer and TuneIn only. There are no improvements regarding the many NAS issues. 7 Months after the roll out and the terrible One-Capital-Search for NAS-content is still there. It seems that B&O decided to please only the streaming customer - and if they get some money from NAS users on the way, they take it and try to make the sale with empty promises of a future upcoming major magic update.
Today I am waiting again, that the device is finishing a factory reset - to evaluate my last options. B&O should come forward and admit this failure. Refund the customers and offer something nice - to soften the pain.
Hi Beroli, I bought my Moment mainly to listen to Deezer. Unfortunately I can't even do that, as I can't use the B&O app to search as I only get half of a keyboard show on my iPad. To make matters worse, when I try to use the B&O unit, it only allows one letter searches. It's basically scrap to me, all after a couple of months from purchase. All my dealer keeps saying is wait for the update. I've had enough, it's boxed up and I am taking it back to the shop in the morning. I refuse to have such a blundering product in my home.

One letter search is only for NAS content, right?
For Deezer search one of the later upgrades of Moment enabled full search in Deezer from the Jukebox.

may I ask you which iOS-Version you have on your iPad and what kind of iPad? How is your BS-Moment connected to your Network (ethernet/wifi)? do you have any special charakters in your Wifi-SSID?
You wrote, that you couldn't update the BS-Moment.It seems that the BS-Moment can not connect to the BeoPortal. Therefore you face the trouble. believe me, if you use Deezer only, it should work fairly :-/ Have you tried a factory-reset? I don't want to make you angry, but there are 3 options to start a factory reset. The keyboard issue is solved and shouldn't bother you anymore.

When I started this thread, March 8 this year, the Moment was far from ready but I could see the potential.
Today (the way I use the Moment) it feels really good:
I think the next major lift need to be the NAS integration, that many rightly have critizised. For me it works fairly well, where the times I have problems it seems to be the Twonky server that is the cause of it. But I have less than 3000 songs on my Synology NAS.

Hi Hiort,
I still love/adore your first post and I saw the potential as well. That´s why I have bought the BS-Moment. Don´t worry I won´t sue you , because I am not happy with my decision.
You use the device with 3000 tracks, I try to use it with 28000 (B&O wrote, they tested it with 40000). That´s the problem. The BS-Moment depends heavily on the performance of the Twonky-Server. It is never a good decision to manufacture a product which depends solely on a third-party software - especially when it is a known fact, that Twonky is not on the latest NAS-Servers anymore. Most of the NAS-Server just have the simple DLNA-support on board and B&O should focus on a solution based on a pure DLNA-protocol - without twonky. It should be a decision of the customer which NAS/DLNA he want´s to use. If he wants to use Twonky- fine, but if B&O advertise, that the BS-Moment comes with DLNA-support - any Media-DLNA-Server should work. The DLNA-sign is now on almost every TV,Media-Player.... Now imagine, that every Product demands a different Server-Brand. That would be expensive -forget about the environment.
... and it would be cheap excuse, if B&O would pin it only on Twonky - since they recommend this Server-Solution exclusively
sinuhe: Dear Beroli, I really sympathize you and appreciate your huge efforts in trying to help everybody else, BIG thanks! I was waiting for the this weeks update and your response on that before buying. ... All good things Sinuhe
Dear Beoworlders,
thank you for your kind remarks. I am not on a war path with B&O. As you, I am just a customer, who want´s to use the product without any trouble. And since there is no BeoCare present (not to me), I try to warn and help at the same time.
as chris already wrote, it seems the BS Moment needs a factory reset after the latest update, if you have a huge music-collection on your Twonky-Server.
A simple reboot after a update might not work. If the device is working perfect from now on - then it is worth to spent another Day in a new processing of your Server. Let´s cross our fingers that it will play in future.
After the factory reset is done - all my 69 Playlists, Covers and Music from my Twonky-Server are back again and accessible. UI feels much snappier and quicker. I changed nothing in my setup.
My recommendation:
---- In General ---- Everytime, if you face troubles with your BS-Moment and your Server is still there (up and running)
If you don´t see any of your content on the BS-Moment after the processing is done, please do:
- PIN reset on the Jukebox (until it goes dark),
- PIN reset on the Soundheart (15 sec.)
- wait until the Soundheart is back online and the white and green LED´s are constantly ON
- now place the Jukebox back on the Soundheart an wait until the start-up is done
NOW you should see both, your Server-Content (Playlists, Artists...) and your chosen content from Deezer, together.
Even though I am part of a minority of Moment users (as it seems based on this thread), I find it necessary to bring my story to the thread as well:
I picked up my Moment in May and have been a happy camper since day #1. But, and there is a but, after all the challenges of ripping my CD collection (just north of a 1.000+ discs) first to the BeoMedia 1, then to an HP server and finally to a BeoMaster 5 I decided to pick up a second hand BeoSound 9000 mk3 and use it with my CD's. Same goes for the LP collection - best left for the devices of that time periode. I have it rigged up in another room, which works fine for me, as a stand alone system. The Moment is used for Deezer and TuneIn, and double tapping Artist gives me a full keyboard search for any artist in THEIR database. I know the Moment is advertised as a solve everything product and seems to be a big disappointment to the NAS crowd, and I truly feel sorry for them and their efforts to resolve all issues.
To me the Moment is just as hassle free as the BeoMaster 1900 downstairs: press one single "button" and I get music from a device that mixes wood and aluminum as well the old 1900. Only B&O could bring something like this to the marked: modern, yet true to their roots.
And I do not like App's, even though I bring my iPhone with me everywhere and there is usually an iPad on the coffee table, for controlling and selecting music. But I do like, unlike with the BeoSound 5, that you can bring the Moment with you: no unlocking, no pin entering, no checking of email or news - just pure and easy music selection from my sofa.
Hi Roger,
great story of yours. I really enjoyed reading your post. Calm and objective
I´m testing the latest update since some hours and ... yes!! - there are great improvements, even for Twonky-users with big music collections.
Changing tracks, even between Deezer and NAS works now almost instantly. Browsing artists on the Jukebox and BeomusicApp is much faster. The Moment Volume control reacts faster. With the BeoMusic-App you can do a full text search on your NAS. It is quick and is a good work-arround to the One-Capital-search on the BS-Moment. The communication between the BS-Moment and BeoMusic-App is now perfect. I can tap on the Artist-tile and it shows instantly all Album including their covers. Great! If you start a Album, the moment will show a artist cover in the now-playing screen -faster too and yes even for the NAS-content.
I don´t know yet - if my first impression will be different in some days, but it seems B&O is willing to "wing-it. I switched of the automatic update, to avoid situations like 2 days ago, when I lost everything after a update. Now I can submit log-files to B&O without crashes, so they will have a instantly feedback to improve. Due the day-eating first setup-routine, I won´t try to connect the BS-Moment to my Synology-Server, to see, if the issues with other servers than Twonky are gone now. Maybe later - I have to work too - or a other Moment-user can test it an post a experience. 2 Days ago I was devastated and checked my legal rights to get a refund - now I would say, I will keep the Moment - maybe I would say ... buy it ...
Hopefully in some days, I will be calm as Roger again, when I sit down with the jukebox in my hand and do nothing - just listen to music and enjoy the BS-Moment.

I feel the same, and I am pretty sure that B&O will get the Moment right for us, hassle free in using it with my own music. We are all to much used in buying, get it out of the box, and have an immediate trouble free experience. In the old days of buying a new turntable I needed a lot of time to calibrate my SME turntable arm, and I took this for granted... Now we are having an eye like this...

Hi beoBoy68
"Love" is a really strong word. I would not use it for the BS-Moment. There is still enough room to improve on the device, but if I see improvements or find some solutions, I will tell the community about this.
It feels not right for me, if I just be against B&O and about anything what they are doing, without mentioning the efforts they put in the device to make it better. This would be one-sided
Regarding elephants essence mk2 unpacking post - Really?, who cares about the design of the packaging as long the product is working as promised and it is a perfect condition. Most of the products are meant to be installed by B&O staff and not from customers. If I can save money by doing it myself, I don´t mope about a brown box. I put the packaging away in my storage room and forget them until I will move again. I don´t put the on my cupboard in the Living Room. I really enjoy most of your comments (sometimes even your fights with MM ;-)), but if they only share their opinion, experiences and tips without insulting others I am fine and happy with every member in this community who keeps the forum alive.
dear beoBoy68, keep calm and have a nice weekend ahead .
I have to say thank you to B&O and my local dealer who has been great. I got a call yesterday to say I can have a FULL refund or a replacement unit. I had been pushing for a refund for a few days, and credit to both to facilitate this. I asked for 24 hours to make a decision as there are certain features that I really like about the Moment, but others (mainly the app) that make me frustrated. I have decided to go the refund route, and sadly am about to box it up to take it back. I will keep an eye on what you good people of this forum say, and maybe give it another look in six months.
Thanks to all who have given advice, and wish you all well. Goodbye.
