I am not agree with you.
Sorry.
The packaging and conditioning are respect for the customer. Apple understood. It doesn't cost a lot more.
In the past, some Beo products have nice grey metallic package including a complete instruction manual
with a thanks message from the CEO. Today nothing. Is B&O a premium brand ? Today, I doubt.
Nowadays we must be objective, a product signed Bang & Olufsen is not necessarily a good product.
Customers should not be tester for a premium brand.
The BeoSound Moment should not have been launch.
Have a nice week end.
Hi BeoBoy68,
I totally agree with you - the packaging for the customer should be well designed. But If you have a look on the pictures fom elephant, you will see, that the only well designed box is the black box for the remote. This is the device, that will be usually handed over from the B&O-service-guy to the customer to let him unwrapp the magic. All the other brown packages are for the "stow away" devices, the junction boxes, which are usually installed and hidden by B&O staff. Therfore there is no need to invest money in "installation parts (so sorry)"-packaging design. Alltough the Beolink NL/ML, as a really beautiful junction box, is not meant to be installed by the customer. Some customers not as brave as elephant ππ are not able to do the installing - because of the setup. I did it by myself and I have to say, it's much more difficult than the old BL-passiv-Converter. You have to do the mapping and the setting and you have to know the basics of a ethernet/masterlink-network as well. To say it a little bit "overdone": Just because I know, how to bend and install waterpipes, I don't expect that the pipemanufacturer is wrapping the pipes in beautiful white boxes. Look at the new BV Avant TV. The packaging is ugly as hell, but very durable for the purpose of transportation. The BeoRemote One comes with a really well designed box, evenly matched to Apple. Regarding the BS-Moment I totally agree with you when it comes to the manual and the release to the market. That manual is a printed shame and for the BS-Moment - I think everything is said.... And yes - customers should never be used as guinea pigs. It seems that todays software/product-development will be finished at the customers home. I don't like this too - but that is a sad reality. Apples latest OS (Yosemite) was a disgrace for Apple as well. Some people call it Apple's VISTA. But the BeoLink Converter NL/ML is a beautiful box and it's a really great device. There is no other company, which is investing money in a new product just to connect the customers old-stuff to a new standard. This device earned to be signed as a real Bang & Olufsen product. The same goes for the essence.
Now we are completely beside the topic. Sorry to you Guys π
Cheers Beroli

Beroli: Regarding elephants essence mk2 unpacking post - Really?, who cares about the design of the packaging as long the product is working as promised and it is a perfect condition.
Fealing will be better than filling, sorry !

Mine has now departed back to the dealer, who kindly refunded me. In a way I kind of miss it, there was a lot to like about it, and a lot that frustrated the life out of me.
The good
sound
solid internet connection
easy to turn on/off
nice layout of operating system
wood
the not so good
angular design
plastic cheap feel
B&O app
screen would flicker on turn off
I feel relieved mine has gone, but at the same time I do believe it was a faulty unit. Does anybody else get a flickering screen when the screen automatically turns off? The app drove me mad, in that it doesn't automatically rotate from portrait into landscape. It would also only show me half a keyboard (on Deezer) which rendered it useless. In the last couple of days I used the B&O tablet which made things so much better, particularly after this weeks software update.
I also have a flickering screen when put in stand-by. Normale i have the wood Side on top so i cannot see it.
overall I am happy with the unit which replaced the encore.
plus
- wireless connection with the beolab 18
- tablet so I can choose my music from the bench
- after some cleaning up in my nas all art cover is there
- after the update the unit is better and quicker
negative
- app is kind of basic
- search music from my nas only with one letter
- no information about interaction with the nas ( example adding and removing tracks

It's nearly six months on from my initial purchase, and I love my Moment now more than ever...
I've been following this thread daily, and I truly sympathise with the trials and tribulations that many of those with more complex setups than I have been through, and I can also fully understand the points of view of it's detractors. My own set-up is just the Moment with a pair of BL18s connected wirelessly, and using Deezer as my source. I had initially hoped to use my Library of ripped CDs on my Macbook Pro as my primary source, and initially went down the Twonky route - but naively I hadn't considered the problem of what happens when my Macbook was elsewhere, which - happily as it turns out - forced me to look to Deezer.
Deezer via the Moment has been a revelation to me, and I've not only rediscovered many oldies from my youth, but it has opened up a whole new world of new music to me. I (and more importantly my partner...), find the jukebox actually really simple to use - there's basically only a handful of taps or swipes needed to access our collection of hundreds of artists and thousands of albums. Now there always seems to be music playing in the house - not something I could say even with all the iTunes and Airplay options we've had available to us in the past decade... it just seemed like too much effort sometimes, but not now. I've also found that a lot of my ripped 80's and 90's CDs have since been 'remastered', and I suspect that the streamed versions of these - via Deezer - probably sound better than my original CDs ripped to iTunes anyway...
Personally I really like the current Moment/'WiSA Product' Aesthetic, and any visitor to our home who has seen/heard the Moment/BL18s in action has been mightily impressed. I do think the new products are a bit pricey, but they do feel substantial and to me have proven their worth so far. The support of my local dealer has also massively enhanced my experience, and their willing support has justified a large part of the 'luxury' price-tag.
There has been a side-effect though; since buying the Moment 6 months ago, I've got the Beovirus bad - I've since bought a BV 7-40, BV7 -32, Beosound 3000, Beocenter 9500, four pairs of BL 6000s, two pairs BL 8000s, BL 4000s, a BL 3500, BL 4s ,a Playmaker, a BS 3, and I'm currently coveting a BS 9000 and a Beosystem 7000 (in white of course!). I'll shortly be undertaking a major home-move, and I expect I'll go for an Avant 75, BL 17/19s, and a whole assortment of NL/ML boxes to connect everything together; all of this comes off the back of a Moment demonstration one afternoon in March. Of course, I've had a few minor hiccups, but all I can say is - Long Live B&O!

Regarding the "poll", I´m in favor of the Moment.
Pros:
Cons:
I'm getting behind this set of bullets. :-) I've had mine for half a year soon, and I'm using it with WISA, a pair of BL18s and a BL19. Love the design. Before the B&O-setup I had a set-up where I used airplay to an apple TV, TOSlink to a Hegel DAC, XLR to a Hegel pre-amp, XLR to a Hegel power amp, which in turn drove a pair of medium massive Dali Helicon 400 floor speakers. The sound was excellent, but the WAF was ridiculously low. What triggered the switch, however, was all the dropouts and unstable connection of the airplay.
I had never even heard of Deezer before I bought the Moment, but gave it a try. This was mostly out of curiosity, as I intended to keep my iTunes library on a NAS. Poor research led me to buy a WD mycloud disk, however. It works with the Moment, but there are some problems with cover art etc. Probably solvable, but I haven't bothered or had the time yet. Mostly because after having tried Deezer I ended up rebuilding my entire music library on Deezer instead. I only use the mycloud for albums that don't exist on Deezer, like the Beatles.
There's still work to be done by B&O, but the Moment has gotten significantly better with each software upgrade, and if it continues to do so I'm looking forward to see how this will turn out in another half year. Already I'm very pleased with it, much more than when I first bought it. Pattern Play is my personal favourite. It has proven uncannily accurate at predicting what I want to listen to right now, when I don't know myself. An important indicator for me that the Moment works reliably is that my wife actually uses it. The airplay solution was in theory a simple one to use, but she got so annoyed with the dropouts that she just got angry and stopped using it. A solution for playing music cannot work 80% of the time, or even 90%. That is not ok. We always got the airplay setup to work eventually, but too often it involved restarting the iPhone/iPad, the apple TV, the airport extreme, or all of them. By the time it finally worked the good mood and the desire to listen to music was gone.
My first side-effect was the BL19, which was added two months ago. Beolink Multiroom fascinates me, though, and I'm currently considering an A9 mk2 for the dining room, together with a second hand BS9000 mk3. I'm also in the market for a Beogram 4000, or maybe 4004, to be placed in the vicinity of the Moment in the living room. Neither the Beosound 9000 or Beogram 4000 would have their own connected speakers, but would play to either the A9 or the Moment's BL18/19s. Haven't looked too much into exactly how this would work yet, as I have no prior experience with blink converters etc., but I understand that it is supposed to work. Also, I'm looking forward to B&O releasing a new multiroom-enabled Beolit 12/15 ("when". Not "if":-), so I can replace the Beolit 12 I currently have in my kitchen.
All in all, a happy Moment owner, and getting more so every week.
-h.
Hm. Thought I quoted you, Hiort. I was referring to your set of bullets... :-)
Also, I meant beolink converters, not blink converters. Damn you, autocorrect...
As one of the first time users so here's my little poll of importance to me.
- DLNA Network stability as it is now: β ββββ
Maybe as a premium brand, B&O have to develop their own server program as some other premium brands do with success. The feature with this third party supplier is now beneath contempt...
- Multiroom (ML): β β β ββ
This is for me the core point of the system and it worked very satisfactory until the latest update, now they removed the up-down track function on the remote's, only with the red button you can shuffle a track if you listen only on a ML appliance. Or you need to combine ML+NL appliances to get it work.
- The Beomusic app: β β β ββ
Lots of potential seems to be in this app, but for now it feels more as a first try. Who on earth did get this awful idea to use it only in a vertical way and make that menu more simplistic.
- Sound β β β β β
Exactly as I expected from B&O, this box keeps you swinging. And can make many other brands do blush, who are asking a lot more funds for a network player.
- Ease of use β β β β β
This is a family toy, and the integration of Deezer - TuneIn makes it a joy to use. But it missed the extra star, because the app who is actually an extension of the Jukebox needs some serious further development.
- General view β β β ββ
I can't give more then 3 stars, I bought the Moment as soon as it was launched and it still feels like a project as it was in the beginning. Only the wait for the multiroom function was giving me the feeling of a serious step forward. Until today the update's are not worth to get and could be transformed into one major update. The BS Moment will be only become a good media player, the name B&O worthy once any customer can unbox it, connect it and enjoy the beautiful sound without all the hassle it has now.
Hopefully I can give the 'General view' soon a 5 star, and not within a timestamp of a year. Its a beautiful piece of equipment to have in the house, and friends who enter our house admire it but I avoid the question whether this would be something for them. You know they are not IT targeted...

Why a Beosound 9000? You will access all music through the A9 anyway. Do you have CDs that are not on Deezer?
Well, I suppose the best answer I can give is "because I want one". :-) If the reason was CDs not available on Deezer I would rip them with iTunes and put them on my NAS anyway. I suppose it's a combination of the novelty/nostalgia of being able to include CDs in that kind of multiroom setup, and the visual effect of the BS9000. It would be like having a piece of art on the dining room wall. So it's exactly the same reasons as with the Beogram 4000, I'd say.

Must admit I'm missing not having a Moment!!
Justin9960:Must admit I'm missing not having a Moment!!
Thanks for the suggestion! I find the essence white plastic box to be just sooo offensive. I can hide it (partially) but just knowing it's there is not pleasant. At least the Moment has a bit more style to it, and not being a lover of the app (having to constantly turn my iPad from landscape to portrait) I much prefer the interface using the Moment.
Decisions, decisions......

@Justin
This is exactly (one of) the reason(s), why B&O launched the BS Moment.

There is a tv - and there is a BV
Style.....it's a brick!

Raeuber:koning:Style.....it's a brick!The BS5 has style.....that's B&OAlso my opinion. I would also hide the Moment like the Essence.RΓ€uber
lonfred:Therefore they need to do a nice charger for the Moment tablet so you could hide away the soundheart....
I can appreciate all comments on how it looks and if it is real B&O. Each time I walk in the kitchen and see my 9000, it still makes me do a double take, sooo stylish, and a real statement. The Moment is very insignificant next to it, and the plastic box of the Essence, well............
