BeoBoy68:Agree We have already discuss about a new design for a BeoSound. No one Beomanager or designer is coming on this forum to share opinions and ideas. Really pity. Only Geoff Martin the Tonmeister comes here for learning us technical sound experience. I repost my project of a new compact BeoSound, based on a BeoLink 7000.

There is a tv - and there is a BV
BeoBoy68:@ Räuber Thank you. It is simple and minimalist. Description The plate base is in aluminium. You can control all functions like volume, tracks and the main menu ( Netradios, streaming service, Multiroom ). The black screen show your albums, titles and the simple main menu. The Beosound Audio Master is compact and wireless using WiSA, Bluetooth technologies. There is a thin detachable docking station to charge this portable device. The BeoSound Audio Master use last technologies in a compact form. The design is timeless based on the classical BeoLink 7000.

A svelte inductive charger, or even a mere "normal" but more elegant charging station for the Moment's tablet, and the sound heart can be hidden.
Well written, Beocat47.
I also like the aesthetic of the Moment. Reading some of the comments regarding the design brings back the citation from David Lewis - the one regarding seeking a reaction with design, and not being interested whether people liked it or not. The rant regarding the design also brings back the memories from this very site when BeoSound 9000 was launched and people demanded Jacob Jensen to be reinstated as chief designer :) Maybe Peter can recall who claimed that the paint on the metal lid covering the controls was painted in a way that made it look like plastic? Or that the display was 90 deg misplaced when using the floorstand, or that the RDS info was useless due to the short display area, the glass part looked flimsy as it was not flush with the product and according to the Jensen way of design...
I have the Moment sitting on a glass table next to an iMac. They look great together. I love the angle of the SoundHeart, in the same way as the BeoCenter 2300/2500 it tilts to make operation easier: it sits at a perfect angel for operating the volume control, and you can read the display more easily. Last night I sat down with my favorite car mag as the Moment played a spot on pattern, and a song I have never (?) heard came on: I glanced over at the Moment laying on the sofa, and it display the name of the track and artist before it faded into black again. Very cool and useful.
And compared to the BS5, which was only used by me, the Moment is used by every member of the family.

Ordered a replacement Moment today!! Having had one already, I feel more excited this time around!
why a replacement?
Are the first ones different
Hi koning, I believe the first one had a fault, and my local dealer and B&O took it back and gave me a refund. Having not had it for a few days, I quite miss it, and am going to try again.
When i was in Hong Kong a few weeks back (HK and Japan trip), i noticed that the latest firmware / software made the Moment really snappy and responsive - which wasn't the case when i tried it the first few times.
I hope the moment comes now standard with the latest so you don't have to update when you get it and all the best with it.
Roger, that was an interesting post. I also like the angle of the unit too, and I had a good visual when you said that it is next to an iMac on your glass desk - they would look nice together.
I wonder what they would look like on Heckler Designs One Less Desk? My iMac is on one of these desks. There wouldn't be room for 2, but the moment would look great on it i think.
Well they're either making less units, or the Moment is catching on!! First one was 1 week lead time, second one I is now 3 weeks. Been using my Naim streamer in the meantime which keeps loosing connection and is driving me mad. To its credit this never happened with my Moment.
The Moment was recently made available in the US and I am considering one. However I am somewhat confused about how it would work with my system and have some questions. I hope someone does not mind answering them.
I have a BV7-55 with attached speakers and a BV10-40 with attached speakers. They are connected with Masterlink along with a Beosound 5. There is another Masterlink connection available in a third room which is where my router is I also have a stand alone Beoplay V1.
My questions are:
1. Do I need one or two NetLink converters to be able to access the Moment through the BV7/speakers and BV10/speakers?
2. Does/do the converter(s) need to be connected to the BVs, or if only one is needed, could I connect it to the Masterlink in the third room?
3. Once the Moment is connected, if I wish to listen to music, must I turn the Moment using the Moment, or can I use the Beo 4 to turn music on as I do with the Beosound 5?
4. Will the Beoplay V1 connect in any manner wirelessly to the Moment or will the two remain completely separate?
5. Any comments on sound quality of Spotify on the Beosound 5 compared to Deezer on the Moment?
6. I have heard that in a couple months Deezer will make Elite available to all Deezer subscribers, not just those with Sonos system. Is this true?
Thank you in advance.

It is now available in America and I am considering purchasing one. I have a few questions. My apologies that I do not completely understand some things even after looking here on Beoworld. I hope someone can answer my questions. I tried to post these questions in one post yesterday twice but both were blocked as moderated. I do not know why. I am going to post each question as an individual post and perhaps will be able in that way to get most questions in and maybe find out why all of the questions together were moderated. Thank you in advance.
Sorry for posting in this manner but it seems to be the only way the forum is allowing me to post questions in the appropriate threads.
Following is a copy of posts I made in thread about posts being blocked. That thread allowed the questions to be posted.
Again my apologies and also again thanks for any answers anyone might be able to provide.
Have looked here and am still a bit unsure if I am understanding things correctly.
Yesterday I attempted to twice post some questions about the Beosound Moment as it is now available in America. Both posts were blocked as needing moderation. Still nothing. what was wrong with the posts?
I have tried rewording and changing the post multiple times and every time it is blocked. Very annoying. Even tried just posting the first sentence describing the Bang and Olufsen items I have and it was blocked.

In this thread apparently the same questions can be posted without being blocked?
Only blocked in moment threads where they belong?
Final question was:
Had you, by any chance been on the sauce when you posted??
What is it with the delay in a post being sent with this forum? And before you ask, no I haven't!

Hi Razlaw,
I try to my best to answer your questions, in short.
1 No, you just need one ML/NL converter to connect thru Masterlink both TV's
2 Yes, you have to connect every ML product thru masterlink
3 Yes, the Moment and converter needs a networklink. Your TV's are connected thru masterlink. The converter has networklink & masterlink input so its all connected with each other
4 if your V1 has the wireless build in to connect to your network, but remember its always better to connect by a cable.
5 I have no experience
6 It could be or not, there are rumours that the exclusivity ends by 2015, so why not for next year?

I have a Moment in the living room and an Essence combined with a Beoplay A8 in the kitchen. I needed the Essence as the A8 was not compatible for multiroom. The Moment is connected directly to my router and the Essence/A8 via Devolo power link 1200.
I can't get the multiroom to work.. According to my dealer it is a software bug which Beo is trying to fix.
Anyone any ideas?

I suppose it's the new 2. generation Essence you have?
Yes mk 2
I purchased a Beosound moment and Beosound 18 speakers plus a subwoofer 19, 2 weeks ago. All i can say is, very disappointing. Sound is excellent when the system is not crashing (rarity). The app doesn't respond, the jukebox is not updating the playlists. It connects, reconnects, disconnects. Full of bugs.
To make things worse, the B&O people are pretty bad with instructions, but i've known this for a long time know. Although they have outdone themselves here. Their own technician installed the system and it took him 6 hours to do the installation.
I have had B and O since 1995, eventually i'm moving on as a customer and going to other brands. We had 4 TV's at home, bacame obsolete, no more B & O.
I have a Sonos system in our holiday house, a billion times better, easy user interface, stable and functional, works all the time, the sound may not be to B & O standard, but that should not be an excuse by B&O (reminds me a bit of Ferrari and Maserati problems and excuses one hears from their technicians).
What is the purpose of excellent sound if the system works 50% of the time ? is unstable? playing, cutting off, stopping, crashing.... and guess what? the mood wheel?? Well it doesn't read my mood very well, as the only thing i want to do when im holding it is throw it out the window.
In one phrase: a pretty useless, dysfunctional, mentally insulting and incapacitating device.
Shame on Bang and Olufsen for releasing this abortion of a product to the market and not respecting their customer base.
Companies with this arrogant attitude towards their customers-pretending to innovate-when in essence regurgitating failed and obsolete software and hardware solutions, - are simply managing their exit from the market.

Fully understand your frustration. Spending that money should give you flawless service and a working system.
Some things you may have checked: Is the Moment updated to latest software? Do you use a NAS for your music? If so, do you use Twonky server? Are the speakers connected wirelessly? Is that also causing dropouts?
Livingroom: BL3, BL11, BV11-46 Kitchen: Beosound 1 GVA, Beocom 2 Bathroom: M3 Homeoffice: M3, Beocom 2 Library: Beosound Emerge, Beocom 6000 Bedroom: M5, Essence remote Travel: Beoplay E8 2.0, Beoplay EQ, Beoplay Earset
I have a Moment, Beolab 18 wireless, Essence mk2 and Beoplay A8. Moment and Beolab 18 wireless are working just fine together with a Synology NAS 212+ (no Twonky). Mostly using Deezer and TuneIn though. Album covers on the Moment and in the app remain a problem but I have more or less accepted that as a minor flaw.
Multiroom, however, with the Essence mk2 (and wired to the Beoplay A8) is a problem. It doesn't work and according to the dealer there is a flaw in the software. Waiting for an update...
How many musicfiles do you have joost.
Don't know exactly but I estimate around 5,000/6,000.
driceman1086:mentally insulting
Dear driceman, I understand completely your frustration if the system not works as expected.
The Moment is a strange toy in setting up and afterwards using it. I'm pretty sure that 90% of the dealers is incapable to install it correctly, thats a fact. A lot depends on your homenetwork, and B&O dealers are no known IT-specialists.
I told you in the other tread what the best use is as a server or NAS with the Moment, but this conclusion is based on my own experience in delivering music to the Moment. This works definitely as a music delivery system to the Moment, but there are also some other cases to be aware of, and in need of serious attention: Is the music file you want to play tagged correctly (very important), are your playlist from the server correctly made, how is the look of your music directory on the server, and so on... Its something you have to do in using any mediaplayer, not only the Moment, to get the most of it. And the Moment as a mediaplayer is not on the easy site on this matter, if something is done wrong the Moment immediate punishes you.
I was last almost 'mentally insulted' in finding how it came that in using the Moment with a BLC converter exclusively on my old Masterlink, the music suddenly stopped playing and switched everything in stand-by, it was happening sometimes after playing a couple of musicfiles, sometimes after an hour playing. Beocare or my dealer could not help me either on this phenomena. Until I found it myself... I used my old BV3 television to power the Masterlink, the BV3 and BCL where connected by some 50m Masterlink cable and that was to far away, installing a the new ML Power Box did the trick, no failure anymore.
Next about the network, I'm using a Time capsule as router, connected to it is a Apple Extreme as access point to all wireless products in house, speed about 130Mb/s over wireless. The Moments soundheart is hard wired to this network, the Moments Jukebox is wireless. Today I was updating my printer by wireless as my lovely wife at the same time activated the Moment, it would not start the servers playlist (reason: the complete wireless bandwidth was used). Is this the Moments fault? No its not, but as I told you, any strange behaviour in the chain and the Moment punishes you. Did your dealer know that its best to give a fixed IP-address and make DHCP reservations in the router? Does he understand why your router is best not on automatic IPv6 but on Link Local...
B&O is suggesting a complete new and exclusively sub-network for their NL-systems in their handbook, this thought is now looking more and more justifiable to me. Especially if your homenetwork is not small and will be growing by time.
Do B&O have a arrogant attitude to their customers, I would not say that, Beocare is always doing their best to help me by mail, but it would be better to educate their dealers, give them a decent education in the new designs and overwhelm them with faqs as a solution to problems that may occur with their new network linked products, so customers could be helped immediately in case. Did you know that a lot of dealers are not oriented in electronics at all, just in selling. They leave their technicians at home when they have a training at the B&O facilities, do I have to say more?
Hopefully you won't have to throw you Moment out of the window, I would otherwise stand at the opposite site You know something? It plays so niceeee!
Hi Chris and everyone on the forum,
This is my first message - so please bear with me for the newbie questions. For overview, I have had the following components for a while:
avant 55
2x Beolab 5
2x beolab 18
I have been very happy with this setup for my living room but I have recently been very intrigued by the Moment for a daily music master use and thus I just bought it as well as 2 more beolab 18 and 2 beolab 19. I have a sizable synology NAS drive with about 1300 flac ripped CDs which I have been using with the Jriver software to my main basement listening area (big old school McIntosh setup via silent PC).
Chris and others,
I have been reading your various Moment replies with great interest but I think I am missing many pieces and I was wondering if you can share your best practices for a proper network and NAS setup of the Moment. I have so far only connected the Moment to Deezer and not allowed it to connect to my NAS yet. Should I go with specific fixed IP address (right now for quick connectivity it is set to automatic). Is there a preferred NAS music file structure in order to get the best result?
i should mention that I have connected the moment with proper wired Ethernet connection
sorry if there already exist a proper setup guide here on the site but as rightfully mentioned by many, B&O certainly does not give many in depth written instructions in their manual.
best regards
Hans Christian
Hi,
I still have to reset the sound heart regularly because the jukebox is loosing the connection to its base. When I was doing that once again yesterday I noticed that all TuneIn radio station were gone. Looking into the setup I saw that TuneIn was not connected any more. I keyed in my login credentials but was confronted with a login failed error. I can, however, log in with the same credentials on the TuneIn HP. I now must have tried it a dozen times and I really made sure that there is no typo involved.
Unrelated to the above I also noticed that several music categories on the explore tab are ghosted out, among them pretty common ones like e.g. "Rock" - in total I am missing around 6 categories now. I would suspect that this has something to do with the preferences the moment learned, but - hey - if that is the case than the algorithm is pretty wrong :).
Anyone also experienced those challenges?
Giraffe
Hi Giraffe
I can confirm that my, and at least one other Moment, have lost several music categories on the explore tab. It can´t have anything to do with the preferences the Moment have learned, as it removed Rock and kept Children´s Music :) I hope :))
Finally, after the last sw update, I can now start the Moment by a single touch on the wooden side - I lost this after the June update. But starting the Moment (connected by cat-cable to a BV Avant-75 and wirelessly to speakers (BL18/19)) as I boot up my iMac results in the speakers turning on/off until the iMac have been on for at least 5 minutes.
There is another (major) SW overhaul to be released next month (October) for the Moment.
The next SW update will bring the same functionality to the Moment as on the BeoMusic App with respect to operating multi room products.

I recall I have experienced this. I think I did a reset (using a paperclip) on both Soundheart and Jukebox. All stations in TuneIN then appeared. I think this was before some of the later major upgrades.
My Moment have stopped broadcasting Bluetooth. Factory reset could not cure the problem.
My dealer will fix this under warranty. The Moment will be taken care of by their technician, since there is no warranty swap procedure for the Moment.

Hanschristian:I have a sizable synology NAS drive
Hi Hans Christian, welcome to the forum.
I have no experience with this NAS drive. Did not try it, you have to have a licence for Jriver? I don't think it will work on the Moment, if not you could try to do an install for Twonky server on your Synology but it depends on what type number it is. The following link points to the download page for Twonky: http://www.twonkyforum.com/downloads/7.2.7/ If I remember correctly, It could be that Hiort has some experience with Synology.
Hanschristian:Should I go with specific fixed IP address
To be honest this is mostly a security measure... on the other hand DHCP works fine and you could see it as "Plug and Play" networking. In short, it means that, if a device goes offline when it reconnects it may not have the same IP address it had before.
Their is a small advantage in using a fixed address, thats "Speed". For some adapters the reconnection process seems faster if they have been assigned a static address or get a MAC address reservation in the router. This is the case with my Network, but I don't guarantee this is the case with yours. If you are interested more in the subject, just Google Static IP versus DHCP.
About building a good structure. I first setup a directory structure in Genres, made inside every Genre a sub directory Artist and finalised the Artist directory with their Album. (Example: Jazz>Miles>Sketches of Spain>...) Advantage of using a Music directory and not using the iTunes collection, you can use 44, 48, 88, 96/24kHz flac music files in this collection, the Moment plays them all and this servers Music directory stays an arranged unit, something you can not say from an iTunes directory.
I did all my tagging with YATE, it looks up the correct disc, album cover, etc. Unfortunately its not a free program ($20.00), but well worth its money. This program was the only one who managed to get the no artist doubles in my Moment's cover view. It searches your albums in MusicBrainz & Discogs for correct metadata.

Nice to hear what the next SW update will be, this functionality will be indeed very interesting.
