My recent addi(c)ion of the rose-gold Anniversary edition of the BeoRemote One is driving me nuts.
So I am looking for fellow sufferers, or advice/diagnosis that I am truly a singular nutcase !
Two issues:
a) in the main video master room when driving the Apple TV on a BV8-40 I can't seem to have / find the equivalent of the Apple Remote's MENU key that takes you up the memory hierarchy
b) in the link / slave video room I can not seem to get my PRODUCT OPTION settings right so that I can receive AUDIO over our BeoLink Wireless Ones. I have tried a variety of V.OPT and A.OPT settings and I am getting confused as to whether the BR1 needs to be in Beo4 Audio mode, Beo4 Video mode, Beo4 AV mode, or Beo4 LINK mode !
Any advice on the above would be appreciated.
Any other experiences / frustrations would be interesting.
Thank you !
Over to Sal, Vienna, MM, Philippe, or whomever !

Pardon me for asking:
What does the 'Menu' button on the Apple Remote bring about?
I have never used that remote, since both my ATV's were PUC'ed from day one.
MM
There is a tv - and there is a BV
Thanks Räuber,
was that all?
I use the 'Back button', so I've missed nothing
'Back' is a logical choice, when you want to go back!
Thanks for the tip with long-pressing of the Green button - although I seldom would need that.
I mostly airplay to my ATV's. The actual userinface is just used once in a while for Netflix (not much of interest there!)....and when the Apple events come on.

Raeuber: On Beo4 without navi button you use EXIT for this and on Beo4 with navi button (and also BR One) it's the BACK button. If you have an actual PUC list for Apple Remote installed, you can also use the GREEN button for MENU. And if you press GREEN long, you go back to the main menue of ATV.

Rauber, I just tested the short and long presses with my Beo4 (navi) and my BV11. The TV was in Beo4/5/6 mode, and the PUC I used was the most current Apple Remote PUC. Green doesn't do anything differently with a long press. It acts as MENU / BACK short or long. I'm wondering if you have a slightly different setup.
elephant:And thanks for the green dot suggestions (short and long) -- I will test them later.
Please let us know if you get the short / long Green presses to work.
elephant:It's interesting how we have three different use patterns for a "simple" $69 black box !
My Apple TV is mostly used for the following:
NETFLIX
Vimeo (I usually LIKE videos I see online, and watch them later from the ATV)
Watch Video Podcasts natively which are subscribed through the Apple TV Podcasts section
Hulu Plus for reruns and sitcom watching (currently, I'm binge watching Parks and Recreation never having watched the series when it was on television)
And lastly (equal parts listen to music, watch movies from my MACs and NAS)
Sal:elephant:And thanks for the green dot suggestions (short and long) -- I will test them later.
elephant:I could not get the BV8-40 in Beo4-Navi mode to accept either short greens or long greens
Hi,
[EXIT] on "old" Beo4 is equal to [long BACK] on "new" Beo4 in mode 1 (navigation cursor mode). I wonder if the same goes for the BR1 in Beo4 mode. Never tried this...
BR,BeoMotion

Raeuber:Yes, 'long BACK' also works on BR One. But not with Apple TV, there you have to use 'long GREEN'.
That is strange. "long BACK" and "EXIT" should both execute the same IR command on the B&O side.So if EXIT on an older Beo4 works for triggering the MENU command on ATV "long BACK" should give you the same experience. BR,BeoMotion.

Raeuber:'long BACK' doesn't work with Apple TV because it is not supported by the PUC of APPLE REMOTE!
This is independent of the PUC code. "long BACK" will send out exactly the same IR code out of your Beo4 like the EXIT button on the older Beo4.So if you use a PUC that does something if you press the EXIT button it will do the same if you press "long BACK".Of course this will only work if your TV is in "NON-NAVIGATION-MODE" but your remote in mode 1 (navigation activated).
So this should be the solution if it is not possible for your TV to understand the newer navigation-mode commands and your remote can't be set to the old mode (like this is the case with BR1).

Raeuber:If BV 7 is set to 'Beo4 with navi-button' the EXIT button doesn't work. So I set BV 7 to 'Beo 4 without navi-button'. Then the EXIT button works the same way like BACK on new Beo4, means only one step back in menues.
Yes, no problem here. But the OP has a different setup. He wants to control a TV with a SW that does not support the navigation commands with a remote that has no EXIT button.Without this EXIT button it is not possible to go back in any menu. May this be the TV menu or the ATV.
"long GREEN" is a PUC command in the latest ATV PUC that will kick you back to the start screen directly. The OP simply wants to know how to go back in steps. Independent from the PUC version "long BACK" a.k.a. "EXIT" will always bring you one step back. That should work even on very early PUC versions.
If you want to try it on your own set your BV7 to non-navigation-mode and your nav Beo4 to mode 1. Start your Apple TV choose some submenus (PLAY) and try to get back without using the green button. Same goes for TV menu. Here the trick with green won't work. You have to use "long BACK" instead.
BR,BeoMotion.

Raeuber:Fact is that as far as I know all PUCs doesn't support the 'long BACK' command of the actual remotes
There simply is no "long BACK" PUC command since this is the equivalent to the old EXIT key. If your TV and your remote are in NAV-mode "long BACK" will do nothing because in NAV-mode your TV won't know what to do when receiving an EXIT button command from old Beo4.
"long BACK" will only work if you want to control an old TV without NAV-mode with a Beo4 (NAV enabled) or a BR1 (Beo4 mode). Did this dozen of times with all different TVs and it always worked. Totally independent of any PUC. The only thing i'm not totally sure is whether this trick still works on BR1.
Maybe elephant can simply try this and report his experience here.

Raeuber:: My BV 7-40, BV 10-40 and Beo4 are in NAV-mode and 'long BACK' are working
Okay, might be so. I never tried this with enabled NAV mode. I think the BS4 TVs won't do anything on EXIT command...But this won't help the OP either because he has a different problem.
BeoMotion:I think the BS4 TVs won't do anything on EXIT command... BR, BeoMotion.
Raeuber:On my BV 10 I have 'Apple Remote V. 2.00a' installed and there the GREEN button doesn't work. But on my BV 7 with V. 2.60a it works. And also the YELLOW button that works like PLAY.
Is there a way for me to discern exactly which version of the Apple Remote PUC I have installed on my BV11? I obviously don't have the one you have installed.
Or do B&O servers choose which one(s) to offer based on the model TV which is requesting a download?

Raeuber:I can only tell you how to check the PUC version number on BS3 TVs.

elephant:How ? BeoNut since '75
Raeuber:EXIT works with BS4 TVs
Just tried this for the first time. Yes, you are right. Didn't gave it much attention since the original question was about another function.
Raeuber:I guess it doesn't depend on the remote and/or Beovision whether GREEN and 'long GREEN' work with Apple TV, but on the PUC version of 'Apple Remote'. On my BV 10 I have 'Apple Remote V. 2.00a' installed and there the GREEN button doesn't work. But on my BV 7 with V. 2.60a it works. And also the YELLOW button that works like PLAY.
