Hi Guys,I just have my new setup up and running from a few days. A new Beovision 7-40, connected to a pair of BL4000 and a BL11.The BS5 Encore is connected to a BM7000 and this latest on the TV, via the classic ML/MCL converter box.
Watching TV is a real pleasure, but When listening to music coming from the Encore, It is like the BL4000 and the BL11 where not playing together anymore. I Loose the harmony I had before when the BL4000 where connected directy to the BL11, and the BL11 to the BM7000. The BL11 is properly configures on ext since BL4000 are not connected anymore to it.Is there a setting I missed, on the beovision or is the beosystem 3 included functionning like this. I played with the sound settings of the TV, try to give more volume on the sub, but it is still not as it was before.Any ideas ?Thanks for your help,

I suspect that when you are listening to music (in what must be A.AUX mode ?) that the BV7 is running in Speaker 2 mode (L+R) and not using the BV7's sub-woofer connection - to confirm this just check if the BL11's green/red dot goes on and off as you switch between video mode and music mode.
If the green dot is permanently on, then perhaps the BV7 is not extracting the low end signals from the A.AUX connection for forwarding to the BL11.
Have you tried seeing if Speaker 2 versus Speaker 3 mode makes a difference in your configuration (again watch the BL11's lights) ?
I presume that:
as the alternative is to revert to the previous --> BL11 --> BL4000 pass through connection, but this would result (I suspect) in a degrading of your current cinematic experiences.

To change speaker-setting, simply press "LIST" on BEO4 until "SPEAKER" appears in the display. Now press 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 depending on the speaker mode you want.
If "SPEAKER" is not in your list, you will have to add it.Press the standby-button and the "LIST" button at the same time. Now press "GO" to enter the "ADD" menu. Press "GO" again to enter "AV". Use the navigation buttons to find "SPEAKER" and press "GO". This will add "SPEAKER" to your list.
updated with an edit re BV7 model number
erandlux:I Turn on the BV7' select speaker 2 or 3, nothing happens
at a minimum you should see at the top of the screen something that looks like this
[ SPEAKER 2 ]
(or 3) which fades within a few seconds; you should be able to press [EXIT] to then jump the Beo4/BV out of Speaker mode and into its source mode (TV, DTV, whatever you used to start it).
If you are finding that there is nothing that switches it out of SPEAKER 1 (which is just using the centre speaker as a mono) then I am confused ....
erandlux:the speaker setup is the following : center speaker BL4000 dubble and BL11
.... and this might explain what is going on.
Can you draw a character diagram of how you have all the speakers connected to the back of the BV7 (I have forgotten which model you have, I checked, its a BV7-40, and that's the manual I took this clip from) but look at this diagram of a "typical" BV7's rear and tell us where each speaker is connected please:

I am not sure I fully understand your transcription, so on the next 5 ! posts I am going to put up the 5 pages of the BV7-40 reference manual (circa 2008) for you just in case you do not have a copy of the manual
But first let me provide an extract of what each of the speaker ports is meant to be used for ..................
CENTRE 1 For connection of a centre speaker such as BeoLab 7. For further information about connecting speakers, refer to the speaker’s own Guide. POWER LINK 1–6 These sockets are used for connecting the external speakers in a surround sound setup. 1(SUB) Socket used for connecting up to two Bang & Olufsen subwoofers. A cable splitter for such connections is available from your Bang & Olufsen retailer. BeoNut since '75

From the sound section of the reference manual
the next page explains setting up two configurations (more complex than yours !)
the third page explains setting up speaker distances so that the sound arrives correctly to your ears
the fourth page continues the configuration of the speakers
the final page in the sound section relates to checking the setup
Thanks for your effort,
I have the manuals, and I red them carefully, but did not find usual info. the speaker options descibed are not responding.
Here are some pictures of the setup

I suppose the BL4000 are connected to the "center" powerlink socket, and the BL11 to the "sub" powerlink socket.
The beovision is also connected to the BM7000 via masterlink, and the Encore is connected to the BM7000.
When Listening to music, both BM7000 and TV are on.
hope it helps
Eric

Looks a great set-up
Thanks for sharing it with us

I need to read the manuals and I have time pressures today - I will try to come up with something before checkout time - but I also hope that someone who knows the BV7 inside out can use these pictures to diagnose the problem !
Also, have you seen this thread ?
http://archivedforum2.beoworld.org/forums/t/1501.aspx
I think your BL4000 are wrongly connected. Both speakers are daisychained to the center channel, which is optimized for voice/dialogue reproduction.
And it`s mono. This explains, why there is no difference in sound when you step through speoker modes 1-5: Center speaker is alway on, and because you have no other speakers - except BL11 - you can`t hear other channels than center.
And it explains why music, that you were used to listen to via a BM7000 (!), must sound terrible. I assume your dealer has installed the BV7 knowing a music system is connected via ML..(?) so let him connect your BL4000 to front left-right channels and set speaker mode default to SPEAKER 2.
And please don`t let the dealer charge you for his mistake - thanks.
Or better, get a third BL4000 as a center...
Stefan
erandlux:I follow the thread you mentionned since the problem is common. Bad luck that tv is wall fixed and that I cannot change connections myself :-(( Eric

Next idea: Just disconnect the speakers from the BV and reconnect them to your BM7000 as you had it before.
You can do that by disconnecting Powerlink plugs on the BLs and take a second PL cable to connect them to your BM7000 and a third to connect the BL11.
Set V.OPT to 0 and A.OPT to 2. Now selecting a video source will activate your BM7000 (and your BLs) and the BV7. Selecting an audio source will only activate your BM as you hat it before...
You don`t use the surround decoder at all in your setup, so why connect the BLs to the BV ??
erandlux:I visited my dealer last saturday, and he told me that without center speaker, it was the normal setup. By defining the beolabs as center with option "pair" it recognise it like lef and right.
Hi Eric, just check on the other link/thread I showed you earlier where they found a trick to fool ("spoof") the system into thinking there was a phantom central speaker ........... Ed

Yes, that`s right. This option "pair" is for stereo speakers like 7.1, 7.2..., that are used as center speakers in a surround setup. In SPEAKER mode 2 and 4 this output delivers a stereo (left-right) sound, in SPEAKER mode 1, 3, and 5 it delivers a mono sound (center channel). Simple.
But why is there no difference when you switch between speaker modes as you described in one of your prevoious posts?
erandlux: Effectively, I have no stereo problems,
Effectively, I have no stereo problems,
If you hear a stereo sound from your BL4000s, it should change to mono when you switch to SPEAKER 1 mode - and you will notice the difference assuming you are not listening to TV news or music recorde in the 1960s....
erandlux: ... but i need to play constently with volume when watching movies. Sound is crystal clear for dialogs, too loud for special effects, very boring.

Sorry, but this makes me think you are listening to mono sound, because what you describe is a typical effect when just listening to the center channel alone. What are the default SPEAKER modes for AUDIO and VIDEO?
erandlux: What a Sh##*^t I cannot take it off the walll alone !
What a Sh##*^t I cannot take it off the walll alone !
as mentioned before you just need two extra PL cables to test the second option, no need to take the BV off the wall...

If you are talking about this post:
"""With the help of Matt @ LifestyleAV I've got the speakers working without a central speaker. Many thanks Matt!
All you do is spoof the system into thinking it has a central speaker (e.g. Set Central to BeoLab 7.x) then set the Fronts & Backs to the correct speakers and when listening put the Speaker option via the Beo4 to Speaker 4. :-)
Best regards,
Rob""""
This wouldn`t work for Eric, because he has no surround speakers. Anyway in SPEAKER 2,4 modes the center speaker is disabled.
This option may be a good workaround, but it`s not a solution...
Or may be I miss something and I`m totally wrong....???
I wish, Geoff Martin could tell us something more about this issue...
