Hi,
I recently got a Synology NAS ( DS215j). And I put my digital music (FLAC format) under the shared folder ' music'. When I connect BS5E to the local network, it cannot see the NAS.
I installed the media server in NAS and activated the UPnP/DLNA function. The BS5E is on the device list but BS5E is not able to browse the music on the NAS.
I even tried to connect both your NAS and BeoSound 5 Encore to the router via cable, they were not able to see each other either.
Has anyone ever experienced the same problem ? Any suggestion is welcome !
Twonky Server is a perfect solution. I'm using twonky server on my NAS with BS5 since 2011. Never had problems, very stable...
You just have to learn how to do. It sounds complicated but not!
Beovision Avant 55 / BV 11-40 / BV7-40 / Beovision Avant / Beosound 9000 / Beosound 5 Encore / Beosystem 4500 / Beosystem 6500 / Beocenter 9000 / Beolab 5000 / Beolab 18 / Beolab 19 / Beolab 11 / Beolab 17 / 3 sets of Beolab 4000 / Beovox Red Line 60.2
Twonky is really inferior to the DS media station...
Stupid question: when you go to package center, what is the status of Media server? It should be "running"...

mbee, why do you think that Twonky is an inferior solution for DS? As I wrote in my previous post I never had any problem with it. Or put it on different way, what would be your suggestion and why?
DS is allo stable, I've used it for years without any problem with the Encore.
I say it's inferior because i was using it with my previous NAS and it's just night and day : you can configure everything with DS, you can stream to your iPhone with real time re encoding if needed, you can do a lot of advanced stuff where Twonky is just a DLNA server that works a bit basically.
compare the two and you will never go back to Twonky !
I finally get it done ! Now it works !
I made a mistake that I thought BS5E will recoginze NAS automatically when you connect both to the same local network. In fact, you have to do some settings in the BS5E then the NAS will be seen.
Thanks for your everybody's input and help !

I'm currently using Twonky because it's free and basic, but like you, I've been a bit disappointed that I can't configure the heck out of it easily. For a while now, I've actually been considering a Synology NAS, can you describe how configurable the media server portion of the NAS is in terms of a comparison with Twonky?
Currently, I've been running a Drobo 5N flawlessly for years, but a family member got a Synology last year and swears by it, and I have to admit, it is a compelling device.
Thanks!

I have a similar issue with my Synology DS115j and my Beosound Essence
Two server are present in DS Audio : Diskstation and TwonkyServer.
The Twonky server is empty, but the Essence sees it on the network, and cannot see my Diskstation.
Any idea how to solve this?
