Dear All,

Just purchased a B&O remote ONE  on the basis that it will control legacy B&O products if you switch it to the beo4 mode ( so that it mimics beo 4 commands)

I have a beovision 4 which it controls perfectly and a beo centre 2.

It will switch and control the beovision perfectly, and the radio but it will only switch on the BC2 and the arrow buttons are not operable ( even pressing go before ect) and yet it all works perfecty with beo 4!!

Any experts in that can help!!

Hi,

when putting the BeoRemote 1 into Beo4 mode the "arrow buttons" are the same as the navigation joystick of the latest Beo4.

Did you try the P+/P- and the WIND buttons instead?
Those should execute the "arrow button" commands of Beo4.

BR,
BeoMotion.

Hi there

Thank you for your reply

None of the arrow buttons work and it will not control beocentre 2 other than switch it on!!  P+/P unresponsive and the WIND so one cannot move the tracks or start the DVD

This is what I would have expected. Because P+/P- and the WIND buttons also don't work if a Beovision is set to 'Beo4 without navi button'.

You will only get a BR One to work at Beovisions where you can set 'Beo4 with navi button'.

You won't have a chance to get BR One to work properly with a BC 2!

There are 4 different Beo4 compatibility modes.
Which one did you choose?
Did you also try the "BeoSound" mode?

Hi I tried all the modes my beo 4 works perfectly the REMOTE ONE does not.

Very frustrating that the backwards compatability seems not to exists althoygh B&O says it does!!

Strange.
Even official B&O documents say that it should be possible with the P+/P- and WIND buttons...

The problem is that you cannot move through the tracks on a DVD  this is no where near close to what a beo4/5 can do- B&O should revise the information so individuals don't buy this product in error!

I had also BR One to replace my Beo4 and after a few days I took it back to dealer. For 'old' Masterlink products BR One is no good replacement at all, e.g. many commands you'll find under LIST are not available on BR One (e.g. LINK, AV, LINK-AV), and I need many LIST commands with my setup. Beo4 with navi button is still the best remote for Masterlink products, that's for sure!

This document compares BR One with Beo4 with navi button. It doesn't apply to Beo4 without navi button!

If you try to use Beo4 with navi button with Beocenter 2 (or many other older products) you will have the same problems as with BR One. But you can deactivate the navi button by setting it to mode 2, then it will work like Beo4 without navi button.

But it's not possible to set BR One to mode 2. That's why you can only replace a Beo4 with navi button by BR One and only if you can set your older B&O product to 'Beo4 with navi button' (BV 7, 8, 10 with actual software).

B&O should explain and dealers should know this to keep customers satisfied!

I cannot confirm this. I can use a NAV-Beo4 in mode 1 to skip between track even on older systems. There is no difference in IR signals between the outer arrow keys.

Why doesn't your hint work with BC2??

There must be a difference in IR signals!

I just checked that again.

NAV Beo4 in mode 1 (nav enabled) can definitively skip and change tracks with the arrow keys on an old BeoSystem 2500.
In the next days I will try the same with a BR1 just to be sure.

I don't know why he has got those problems with his BC2. Maybe there is something other wrong...

@355f: Can you explain whether and how BV4 and BC2 are connected and set up?

Ok, I also checked it in detail. Arrow keys of Beo4 navi in mode 1 also works on my old MX 4002 and Beosound 9000. Arrow keys don't work in menues of BV 7 and BV 10, but this depends on setting 'Beo4 with navi button'. They also don't work in menues of my Technisat receiver and this depends on the PUC.

But it would be interesting to know why it doesn't work with BC 2. I guess it has something to do with the Beo4 product setting on BR One.

355f should also tell us if he uses a Beo4 with or without navi button and the type of Beosystem (2 or 3) he uses with his BV4.

BeoSound 4 test (not at the latest firmware level) playing A-MEM (SD Card)

>>| skips between "playlists" / folders

P+ skips tracks within a given "playlist" / folder

BeoNut since '75

Whichever beo 4 'option' one uses in the remote one it wil not operate a BC2 beyond the following.

\you can switch on the DVD as the 'my buttons' become like beo 4. You can use the play and pause but you cannot use any navigation. So there is no way I can advance a track ect.

Whilst I appreciate that this product is mainly for new products- very disappointing that B&O gives out useless information regarding its compatability.

So, with the possible though of an 'upgrade' have a demo of the avant 55.

Summary, in UHD it looks as good as any sony I have seen priced at a 10th or the price, on HD the picture is more dithering that my BV4 with beo system 3 and on SD it is positively the WORST picture ive seen in a long time.- that's progress I suppose

Hello 355f,

which Beo4 do you use, with or without navi button?

Did you set Beosystem 3 under REMOTE to 'with navi button' when using BR one?
