Hello all

I have decided to go ahead and buy the beosound moment because it will give me everything I have today but in a more intergrated way.

I have a complete ML setup with a audio and video master, both are in separate rooms both with their own speakers connected. I understand that with the NL/ML convertor I can interface the two networks but in a limited fasion. My BLGW can see the current audio master Beosound 4 but pretty much see's it has the TV as an AV master.

I have learnt that I am going to need the below items.

  • Beosound Moment
  • NL/ML convertor
  • Delay BOX
  • IR receiver for NL/ML convertor to also use as an active.

my assumptions are below with some thougths if any are wrong or can be done better please let me know.

My TV is in the main room with speakers connected.
currently I have a Audio Master in my music listening room with speakers connected.
I understand when a moment is conncted via a NL/ML convertor it will behave is if the sources are coming from the TV so no speakers can be connected to it.
this means by Moment will sit quite happily only sending music over ethernet to the NL/ML convertor.

I also understand that the NL/ML convertor can act as an Beolink active which will allow me to connect my Penta 3 speakers to it then acting like a link room and a converor with IR connected. I am told that my Penta's will still be able to display the source A.AUX etc if conencted to the NL/ML convertor.

this should solve the problem of the not being able to connect speakers to my tv and moment.

When i look at NL/ML convertor setup in the moment setup guide it says sat it up as a A Master or an AV Master.

I have a setup example document in front of me that says that you can only connect speakers to a convetor if it in an Audio slave role mode.

I am not sure but i think i might have a problem with this setup.

Basically I would love to have the moment in one room and the beovision 7 in another both with speakers connected but im not sure it works this way so i would have to have the convertor also act like an active which might not be possible with the option settings shown.

This coupled with i have the essance remote in Light mode that my setup picks up and the BLGW receives the commands and runs some macro's that active lighting etc i am not sure if the moment will be able to pass light commands back to the BLGW

Confused...........

Hi there

after allot of reading and looking at Beroli's post I think my NL/ML convertor will be better off being in AMaster mode rather than AVMaster mode.

i have a big question as the paper I have shows you can only use the convertor as a active link also if it is in audio slave mode.

if the convetor is in AMASTER mode will it work with connected speakers or will I need a separate beolink active?

any thoughts?

When setting up an NL converter you need to replace it as the part you have taken out of a ML setup, so in your case it becomes the A.Master. Connecting speakers to it instead of an old ML master it then becomes part of the NL system so that eliminates a delay in that setup. The BeoSound 4 can then be ML connected and put into Opt 0 with a delay box run in series to eliminate the analogue/digital delay.

Hi there

Thank you for coming back to me.

I agree and understand that it needs to be in AMASTER mode.

What I don't know is if speakers can be connected to the converor while its in AMaster mode as the paper I have only shows you can use a converor with speakers if it is in audio Slave mode, this would mean the delay box would go on the ML cable coming out of the converor to my link rooms and I would need a beolink active.

I will be selling beosound 4 as with the moment I will not need it anymore.

Cheers for coming back

Alternative.

Setup the Moment as described in the manual (NL/ML converter as AMaster)

Use the BS4 as local source in a linkroom (option 6; with speakers connected)

Then one can use the Moment as source from the main room and the BS4 locally. And you still have two seperate rooms with speakers.

Also a Delay-box isn't nessessary in this setup

Hi there

Thank you for the replies

The system comes on Thursday

I have converted my Spotify playlists and checked my tune in account are ok.

The convertor is being setup as Amaster and we will test if it works with speakers connected in that mode. If not I will buy a beolink active as I'm selling the beosound4 to fund some of the cost of the moment.

I cannot wait as the feedback here is brilliant and I'm sure the interface will be even better with the coming update.

I will never really leave the wooden side showing as its not my cup of tea or a match for my interior. I think I will program the essence remote to trigger pattern okay as I believe patten play can be activated by mapping the source to CD.
