My dealer rang to say it's now available for ordering with delivery in September.

Any new features / functions above and beyond multi-room joining ?

I don't see any new info on the B&O site ...

I would certainly hope for 802.11n 5GHz.

Also elephant, I think FLAC was actually supported already in first gen. Deezer would be very cool addition. :)

The moment is still on 2.4 and that doesnt work for streaming in my environment.

i dont want cable or extra boxes.

also am hoping that multiroom comes to beoplay devices soon,

i need them to be like sonos essentially.

It still seems very odd and sad that a product in the price range of the Essence and even the old Playmaker don't offer basic 5.0 GHz as well as 2.4 GHz. I have a ten dollar dongle for one laptop that does both, and quite well, and is not much larger than the USB plug part of it. This is not something cutting edge, it's all off the shelf, mature hardware.

Jeff

I'm afraid I'm recovering from the BeoVirus. Sad

5 GHz would be important.

But if Deezer comes I hope Spotify Connect will not be sorted out!

Yes 5Ghz at 11n

I highlighted Deezer as the launch material indicated indicated it was a mark 2 addition

elephant i swear you're the only one that receives calls from that store about new products.

You mention launch material - is this something you have a copy of.

May I also ask do the Australian stores do retail price lists anymore like they used to?

That's two questions !

1/ no and I only saw the summary, spec and multi room

2/ no and it's a pain whereas DK gives us a price list (via PeterPan) so it can't be too hard - and to answer the implied question ... I don't know if it's the same prices s previously !

I was told that the wall mounted remote is no more ... what have you heard ?

I knew the IR would cost when it came ... but I did not spot that it was included in the announcement ! What functions are supported ? And which remotes (presuming its input and not PUC-like output) ?

For the functions with the ir-eye you will have to wait a bit - that is still a 'work in progress'.

The Wall Remote Control is always available.

The IR sensor works with Beo 4 and the new BeoRemote 1.

The multi room, is that B&O own solution or just rebadged DLNA?

I read an interview, that they would extend it to Beoplay range. That could be nice.

Communication between the NL BeoDevices is done via customized serverless XMPP messages.
Audio is most likely distributed using the gstreamer framework.
So no, it's not DLNA.

B&O multiroom is much more than DLNA.

Otherweise you would not be able to join in on or push sound to or from devices on the NL, and listen to multiple streams of Deezer etc....

To and from any NL-enbled tv, the BS Moment, the Essence (2nd gen), the speakers connected to the NL/ML Converter, the A9 (2nd Gen) and who knows what may come.....*

Note: not all sources are 'joinable' due to restrictions of the streaming services/streaming protocols.

* I would welcome a 'join-box' - a small NL-enabled device, to which you could connect any BL.

A small all-in-one speaker would be nice too.

My dealer says delivery 18th August in the UK. The delivery date has been brought forward 2 weeks. Can confirm you are able to choose either a table top stand or a wall mount.

So you can use the NEW Beolink copy wall eye AND the "old" Bluetooth control wheel with the Essence?

Any pictures of the new wall eye?

The ir-eye is the same as used with the NL/ML Converter.

It is a matter of software, how this 'eye' can be used - remote controlled as well as local controlled.

No details (that I know of) out yet.

I don't know if both can be used together - my guess is yes.

Finally, i always thought this was an Apple like move to hold back the first generation of the product that was made for wisa and get the second generation more features.
