Hi, I was wondering if it is possible to buy two S8 system's and use them as a 4.2 system in place of getting beolab 14? Not only would it be cost effective, the sound quality would be better with two subwoofers. The only problem is that if it is possible to hook up the two system's with the a an a/v receiver using the preouts or through the cable used in beolab 14?

Update: The price difference is about £800!

Suggestions would be much appreciated

Doesn't 2 S8 systems cost the same as 1 BL14.1?

In UK: 2 S8s cost £1700(from amazon) and beolab 14 costs £2500. So a massive difference of £800. In the US the difference is $4000 - $2400 = $1600.

The 14 is massively overpriced. Sad

Wow, here in Sweden the price of the 4.1 BL14 is essentially the same as 2 S8

Just out of interest, is the sound quality of the S8/14 good? I don't have golden ears but the last time I heard them I thought it was rather good.

I'm trying to get a central for my surround sound and am currently using 2x Beolab 18, 2x beolab 3, 1 x beolab 3 (broke a pair for the centre) and a sub I bought before I went into B&O.

I'd also like to try and do a Dolby Atmos and maybe try the S8/14 for the ceiling.

I'm kinda of worried that the S8/14 wouldn't match well with the Beolab 18. It's a pity I didn't get into the surround sound until after B&O stopped making the centre speakers

I tried the S8 sub, and j didn't like it.

I did not play around too long with the settings though.

The Beolab 2 is avaliable for around 650-800£ second hand.

If you want a serious home cinema, I think most people here would recommend Beolab 2 or 19 as they can be used for demolition.

The BL2 and 19 are amazing for movies. I guess for some the S8 might be more neighbour friendly depending on the level of sound insulation between properties.

Could you elaborate on this? I have not heard the S8 but have been tempted to buy it in case I decide to sell my BL9´s. I could then move my BL8000 to fronts and use the satellites as surround and the sub for the bass. Doesn't the S8 sub sound good?

I don't know why but I thought the subwoofer would be quite good .

Beolab 50, Beolab 8000 x 2, Beolab 4000 x 2,
BeoSound Core, BeoSound 9000, BeoSound Century,
BeoLit 15, BeoPlay A1, BeoPlay P2, BeoPlay H9 3rd Gen, BeoPlay H6, EarSet 3i,
BeoVision Eclipse Gen 2 55", BeoPlay V1-40,
BeoCom 6000 and so much else :)

'Demolition' = 'The act or process of wrecking or destroying, especially destruction by explosives.'

I see there is need for a whole new B&O subbrand: B&O Bang 💣💥

I have the BL14 sub only connected to my BV11 and it's great for movies. Big step up from the BL11. I live in an apartment so the BL14 is perfect for that

@rob08

Do you just use the sub, or the 2.1 set?

Thanks!

Where are the advantages (compared to the BL11) - with music or movies, or with both?

Do you use different settings for music respectively movies?

I would do it the other way round: keep the BL9 and sell the 8K. Makes more sense to me.

The main advantage is that you really feel the bass in movies. The BL11 was in my view too weak and it it was seldom I noticed it during movies (this may also be a testament to the quality of the built in speakers of BV11).

I haven't tried it with much music. Typically doesn't listen to music via the TV.
