All the 90 years celebratory products is in rose gold but BL90 is in grey aluminium. A bit odd. It would be quite cool in rose gold and walnut :).

Perhaps their R&D cost their weight in gold ?

However I do agree with your sentiment.

Maybe the lettering of B&O in gold on black would be appropriately tasteful.

I suggested a white version with walnut below. I would appreciate that combination. Add the rose gold and a dark browngrey fret and it's even better Smile

You have hit on one of the problems.  The Beolab 90 is labelled as a 90th anniversary product.  Does that mean that it will be available for a limited time only?  For a high end luxury product there is a lack of appearance customization.  I hate that wood color.  I would like a choice of maybe carbon fiber, or piano black or white lacquer.

I think it will stay in production for a long time, and that more speakers in smaller sizes will come later, utilizing some of this technology. I also don't like the wood veneer they've chosen on BL90. I am sure they will introduce different versions of it later. I think they could have anodized the aluminium in a cool color, just look at all the H6/H8 headphone colors. Azure green alu, thats quite cool, and hazel brown like the H8 also. Or the Rose gold shiny finish. And yes, different woods would also be superb, and yeah, carbon fiber maybe.

A stealth model in black would also be quite cool. It's quite a lot to take in now with all the shapes, colors and materials. Hard to say of course how it is in real life but I guess it is quite impressive. Cat's will love climbing on it, with their claws :D.

If I don't remember wrong, I read somewhere only 90 will be made. Didnt say if it was 90 pieces or 90 pairs. Anyone else who seen this?

The following excerpt from the above link made me smile... seems to imply that we may see more affordable products using some technologies as soon as next year!!!

Hi! Smile

What will you organize for the event of the 17th? Will it be possible to listen to the bl90? Do people need an invitation or is it an open event? Thanks.

I have removed the wooden part, personally I prefer it like this or an option with black piano-lacquer wood, what do you guys think? :)

Dirty within a couple of weeks!

The all black looks good, as would an all white version in the right place. Alternative wood options would also be great. Irrelevant for me as I can't afford them but if smaller versions and speakers with this technology and principals appear then alternative finishes would be more realistic.

Seems that nobody can afford these - at the same time everyone also seem to want a lot of different options of the design/colour.

I'd take them as are - if I had the opportunity.

I have been so far out of the loop, I only have the Bang & Olufsen site as my home page so I have been seeing pictures of these glossy beoplay products but not paying much notice. Today I saw the image of the Beolab 90 and I thought "oh whoop dee doo another stupid B&O play speaker"

Oops, how wrong could I be!

I just watched the video on youtube showing Geoff Martin presenting to the press, the main three principles behind this speakers function... and I was absolutely floored. This is groundbreaking - quite innovative and unexpected! I am so curious to hear these loudspeakers with my own ears. To me the Beolab 5s sound reproduction is near perfect, so if these speakers are better than the BL5, well I am in dis-belief.

Very cool/geeky design too. Looks like Bang & Olufsen have been constructively busy behind the flimsy, gimmicky, unimpressive facade of the B&O Play label, working on their audiophile roots.

Bravo!

Once I have my pennies saved, I know what i'll be spending them on.

@Millemissen, I think is good to dream so now and then, Design in general is often a good conversation starter everywhere, I do agree if I had the opportunity I'd take them also as they are, but it's also interesting to experiment on visual level what could be altered on own personal taste :), for example I find the aluminium grill part on the soundbar of the BeoVision Avant quite distracting in a non positive way, if that was monochrome aluminium or covered with the same loudspeakerfabric as the rest of the speaker would look more in balance I think.

I have made an appointment at the end of november and going to listen to them at the dealer, really curious how they sound.

I might go for these... ;)

They seem shorter and wider than the 8000 aestheticaly and I'm not sure of the lamelas effect at home.

They'll have to be black because I have some wood around that won't match.

They are built in Cz and I prefer my old danish ones.

The sound is surely better than a 15 years old 8000 but it's a 5.300 โ‚ฌ ticket.

5.300 โ‚ฌ ? Now that's a bargain finaly compared to the 70.000 !
