Hi
just got hold of a cheap set of Beolab 3000 because one unit is working.. The display and data readout works perfect, but there is no sound..
first checked fuse 1 and 2, and they were both blown.. Changed them and the speaker made humming noise for 3 seconds, and then the fuses blew again..
anyone had this issue on similar beolabs ?
The speakers both work fine as passive units.,

Sadly it turns out to be the amplifier IC STK4042V that is done for.. They are not available anymore, so I will be looking out for some used ones in the future. I am also concidering to buy a used 4042II IC's. They are the same becides the V's having less distortion..
I have these speakers, not had this issue, but have had one pair go faulty, i narrowed the fault down to a plug in circuit board that plugs into the mother board, my fault was no display and no sound, just the red indicator light.
Fitting a known working board cured the fault, sadly it seems most if not all parts for these speaker amps are no longer available as i've tried before.
Eventually this might help:

The XI looks like a version with even lower THD (0.008%).
It's the one I have ordered some years ago as a probable replacement. Never tried it yet.

That looks great (if they works), but I actually managed to get a hold of a V version from an old damaged amplifer, now mine works again, but could be great to figure out if yours would work :) ?
What could be the reason for this IC dying ?
