Hi all.

Found new Software from 1/6-2012 and made a sw.update on my Beovision 7-40 MKII

all seem OK. Put USB pin into tv and start upgrade. TV found new upgrade on the USB pin, and

I started to upgrade. First TV wrote " saving old software" then started to upgrade, and when

the bar was on 100% TV got black screen, and nothing happends. After ½ an hour I turned of TV, unplug

230V plug and wait 1 minute, the DTV cannot be turn on :-( . When I go into setup, and make a

RESET in monitor, i did not help, DTV is DEAD - Please help, ig anyone know what to do.

Thanks a lot

You should NEVER interrupt a firmware flash. Probably something went wrong when you saved the file to USB, or the USB memory is faulty. Or perhaps there is a problem with the upgraded firmware file. However, when you turned it off it never had a possibility to save the complete firmware.

You might be able to fix it with a new firmware-chip if replaceable. Otherwise get a new dtv-module. Unfortunately.

Always take enormous care when firmware flashing. Everything can be messed up completely..

Same thing will happen on a Samsung TV, or a PC/Mac or anything almost. Unfortunately. You should have kept it going until something happened. Even if it seems like the firmware on the usb-stick might have been faulty so it could not continue. Half an hour is not much time but more than it should take to write a firmware of that size.

Call your dealer or B&O and ask what they say. Don't dismiss the TV as crap because of a faulty update, it is just how things work. Software upgrades should only be performed if you are very sure about what you are doing.

Hi again. Yes I know that the TV must not be switch off, but ½ an hour is long time, so I think something when wrong.

I am my self an Tecnical repair man, who has repaired I think about 500 pieces og Bang and Olufsen MX5000-6000-7000 and before that Beovison 3400 was my first B&O TV in 1975 :-)

I have been working with industrial and TV/Radio service since 1982.

Then you should have left it on ;) jokes aside. These things happen every once in a while. Call B&O and ask for advice.

Worst case scenario is that you buy a set top box and use puc to control it.

Sorry, if you have a BV7-40 MKII it is the DVB T/S you are talking about? Not the newer DVB HD module?

As far as I know the sw update is meant only for the HD module...So, if it`s the DVB T/S it should be no problem to get a second life module for little money.

I tried the update as follows a few month ago on my BV 10 because it was not possible to start it directly in the update menue.

Switch TV off (red standby LED)

Connect USB stick with the two update files

Switch TV on

Wait a few minutes. During update process the screen is yellow. When update is finished, the whole screen becomes green.

For me this procedure worked, good luck!

Hi all. Have an B&O dealer on visit. The module is Dead :-(

one again 6000,- danish krones, I wonder why we are doing it?

Maybe the best was to buy a Samsung with new technology.

Hope B&O will sponsor a new module, the old one just

passed guarantee.

It can probably be saved if correct firmware can be written. If you had two modules I would give it a shot :)

Otherwise buy a small set top box. Much cheaper but not the same GUI but anyways..

New DVB-T2 module installed, and it works perpect, but when the B&O dealer tried to update to 19.90, precily same problem, and now is module no. 2 dead. It is NOT possibel to recover, and

now they want to have the TV back to control, but I think something is wrong with the new update.

The new module have the USB plug, so nothing else can be wrong. Hope some have an idea ??

Sæt TV i stand by (Rød LED ON)

Sæt USB pind i USB stikket

Tænd i TV mode og vent 5 minutter.

Sluk TV - IKKE MED FJ.BETJ., men afbryd 230V til TV

Fjern USB

Hilsener
