Working on a beovision 5, bought it very cheap but ...... needed cleaning and fixing
All cleaned now have to put it back together.
Even with that dirt it was still running, the problem is in the panasonic plasma. Will post pictures.

But even better - it happens all the time, I get machines in for service, just as dirty, and the customer tells me that it was at another serviceman, who couldn't fix it. Surprise, surprise!
Well, what does that tell me? That the other tech is too cheap to clean his customer's machine before he starts work? Or that he loves working with dirty equipment?
So, an air compressor is as basic a tool as a screwdriver, in any professional workshop.
I insist on a completely clean machine before I start working on it, and only a compressor can do the job properly.
Even if there was no fan to suck in all that dust, the warm electronics provide a very comfortable home for many little (and sometimes big) bugs, whose decomposed parts can be seen flying out every which way, when the compressed air does its job.
What to do if your covers are broken, missing or you don't like the ugly yellow ones for Penta MkII.

And how do you remove the worn or partially removed old type that might be left on the equipment before applying the new type.
Sorry John for this late reply! Decal means rub off lettering? Yes if you saw my thread for the Bang & Olufsen text on my Beolabs3000/4500/5000.
The original text which was on the Beolabs is also sort of decal and not engraved!
jfrancis: I was trying to paint the backside of the aluminum door that goes over the sensor and tone arms of a BG 8000 and when I took the tape off part of the type on the black anodized surface came off with the tape.
Use the proper double side sticky tape and clean the surface thoroughly or use some sanding paper?
Luckyly I didn´t have to yet :D. It´s just a model :). It would be illegal here :)

Absolutely no trace from gluing, very convenient, one go, no painting, just clean and glue.

That's okay. Coincidence that I have to do the same thing with one of my classic Beolab 5000's. Just waiting for the decal sheets.
Leslie, is it decal sheets the old way, you hold the decal twoards and rub with a pen ?, is it diffuclt to find a decalsheet with the font ?

First of all I would like to apologize for using the word LOP's which could be misunderstood by the English spoken ones. A kind member informed me about that. For your information I was using that abbreviation as Lots Of Pictures.
Ok, back to the lettering on my Beolab 5000.
Almost finished but need to put some transparent lacquer to finish it.
Got my 3rd set classic Beolab/Master 5000 which one of my BW friends Jacques brought for me from Belgium and it is in full working condition.
The font type is not exactly the same and slightly bigger, Helvetica 4.3 than (then) the original one.
Sliders (yellow) have been cleaned by putting it in a bowl of dish wash soap (few days) and it looks much better now.
Leslie, when I brought you this amp, it was perfectly sounding but had a major failure... this panel !!!! To be honnest with you, I was'nt sureyou will be able to fix it. But everything seems to be so easy ;) I admire your patience and your attention to details !!!
Now, you will need to find space for the speakers (beovox 5000) ;)

Looks great Jacques, I remember that this was one of your first posts on this thread. To be honest, I noticed that you have been using the same font type. For me it was a coincidence buying the decal sheet. It looks the same only the fontsize is slightly bigger (.3mm) as the original one.

I have a lot of these to rebuilt but where do you guys find all these cloth. Are you using socks or women stockings.
