And more functionality - extra input, sound and playback control.
My options are:Sonos, Essence or Playmaker. What are the disadvantages of the Playmaker? The Playmaker is much cheaper.
Mine's a Mk1, but apparently the Mk2 Playmaker doesn't do FLAC.
I’ve been told to avoid the playmaker and go for a essence, it’s much more expensive. What are the differences?
What do you want to compare?
Playmaker and the Essence (1st gen/MK1) or the Essence (2nd gen/MK2)?

If one of your option isn't B&O made, why limit them to Sonos ?
Chromecast, Samsung LinkMate, etc. are also able to do the job...
