I thought my Beo4s were equal - now I am struggling to find [DTV2] on one of them.
(and yes, I know DTV2 seems some how to map to VAUX but I am chasing the answers to 1, or 2, or both )
Thanks.

Strangely, my first Beo4 from 1999 is a far nicer metal material than my 2005 BV6 and all of the latest ones. I wonder why they changed the material used?

Of all my gear, the Beo 4 is the one piece I don't consider there is a better device to be had. And i already own a Beo 6(which sits in it's cradle waiting to fall over and break)
Beosound Stage, Beovision 8-40, Beolit 20, Beosound Explore.
tournedos: GO+MENU at the same time; then LIST through the displays. No. I think it's there starting from SW 6.22.
Thanks !
I agree Chris, the Beo4 is the world's best remote control!!! Just perfect in every way! The Beo5/6 truly sucks! Beo4 simply incredible, iconic and does what it says on the tin!
elephant: Did that and it worked showing EE 6,1 and SW 5,0 on both units SW 6.2 ?Now I am confused Is EE and SW combined the indication of level ?Or if it is SW only and your SW 6,22 is correct, how did [DTV2] get on to only one of them ?
Very likely they have a different "Video-Config" = Set of names for the same IR commands that fit to different (older/newer) TVs.STDBY + LIST > >> LIST till CONFIG? > GO > VIDEO? > GO > LIST till VIDEO 4 is displayed > GO
Verified on my oldest Beo4 displaying EE:6.2 / SW:5.0 / VIDEO4 / AUDIO 1 "LIST" is offering both - "V.AUX" as well as "DTV2"

Have they changed the materials on the Beo4? I have had all of the Beo4's, except the latest version. I must say that I haven't noticed any changes in the materials...Unfortunately I no longer have the Mk 1 to do a comparison...but the 3 Beo4's I have now looks and feels quite alike (except from the buttons, offcourse).

I have them all (Mark 1,2,3 and 4) and they're all made from the same materials.....

We handled the new (joystick) Beo4 last weekend at the dealer in Collins Street - to me the underneath has a new texture and feel to it - perhaps it will age over time, but it felt quite different; and Sue said she thought it felt lighter than ours at home

Cannot quote enough.
For me; especially for materials used and for 'look and feel', BEO4 is the best remote command ever made.
I tried a BeO5 from a friend of mine;but it seemed to me way 'cheaper' than BEO4; i mean it looked like a gadget ...you would thought that BeO5 could be make in China or whatever, BEO4 is so firm and solid that you would NEVER thought that

Thanks Vienna - your advice and details are always so accurate.
My two Beo 4s are:
However there is a distinct difference when I step through ADD? LIST LIST LIST comparing their "features"
The one which has DTV2 also has P-DTV2, L-DTV2 et cetera; and of course VAUX.
The other one has NO DTV2s at all.
As you can expect, looking at two Beo4s and pressing
is very time consuming, boring, and incredibly irritating when the two lists get out of order because at different times they have had different things ADDed, REMOVEd and MOVEd !
But I will eventually find what is added and/or replaced and/or missing .......... even though it is largely an academic exercise !

Just a guess, maybe the other Beo4 has previously been in an other video-config than "video1" and is therefore still "remembering" the set of DTV2 commands ...
... on the Beo 4 w/o "DTV2" try a change of the config for video to a different version ( video 2 / 3 / 4)and check if "DTV2" appears in the "LIST" ...

Yes, I had a similar thought - so I took your advice ... first observation is that doing this wipes the pervious settings ! Secondly since you mentioned you had VIDEO = 4 I tried that first ....
elephant: ... hmmm, what do this different video options do ?
"History" compatibility = Change of "displayed name" in the "LIST" for the same IR commands (to better fit to different older/newer TVs).
Adding / removing "special commands" needed only for some types of TVs
PS: My Beo4 is EE:6.2 - that may explain the difference but you say, both of your Beo4s are EE 6.1 and only one has DTV2 ! - I'm also
They HAVE definitely changed the side of the Beo4 material! It's hard to describe, but the 1999 model does feel a better quality. It's a smoother feeling material.

Video1: Avant Chassis and MX 4/6/7000Video2: BV/BC 1 and MX 8000Video3: USA Versions

DTV2 has been introduced in SW EE:6.22 To make things a bit more complicated there have been 4 versions of 6.22regarding the "ex factoryt" setup.
Very likely one of your Beo4s is a EE:6.19 version = EE:6.22 version in ex factory setup Video1/Audio1,the other one seems to be a "real" EE:6.1 version
ADDED in EE:6.22:
DTV2 P-DTV2 L-DTV2 A-DTV2 REMOVED in EE:6.22:
REC LOCK REC UNLOCK

I think we are getting close
Clearly my BV8 environment should not be using VIDEO=1 but (by default/exception from you list) VIDEO=4
And unit B that shows DTV2 does NOT have LOCK and does NOT have UNLOCK
Whereas unit A that does NOT have DTV2 does have both
However setting both units to VIDEO=4 did not change the SW level repeat did not change either unit, it still shows as 5.0
And of course did wipe the configured lists on both units
So I have now configured the two Beo4s to have identical LISTs
Thanks again Vienna for your help - I think we will never get to the bottom of the mystery of SW but I think your supposition is correct
Come the weekend I will focus on why the LinkPlayer V2 beta works better with a BV8-32 than with a BV8-40
elephant: ... I think we will never get to the bottom of the mystery of SW...
If EE:6.22 in Video1/Audio1 = EE:6.19 and you read only 1 decimal then EE:6.22 = EE:6.1 - LOL PS: All of these EE versions run on SW 5.0

Ok -they may have changed the coating/paint. But the 'body' is still made of zinc - just like the old Beolink 1000.
Vienna: elephant: ... I think we will never get to the bottom of the mystery of SW... Dear friend, in this SPECIFIC CASE i think we GOT TO THE BOTTOM of SW MYSTERY If EE:6.22 in Video1/Audio1 = EE:6.19 and you read only 1 decimal then EE:6.22 = EE:6.1 - LOL PS: All of these EE versions run on SW 5.0
*doh* you are so right
the letters run from one edge to the other on the Beo4's display: [EE: 6.1]
the space between the ":" and the "6" was enough to hide the missing "9"
