Hello,
I am hoping some experts out there can help me??
I have a Beogram 4000 which has not been in use for some years!
I plugged her in to find she started turning but no sound then after 5 minutes just stopped!?! it was making a sound like a motor or something.(but no movement on the turntable, Also the original lead has been cut and some interconnects have been attached.. Oh and the perspex lid has to be held up when lifted. This can't be right??
I would really love to get it going once more!
Any advice/help would be really appreciated
Thanks,
Gary.
Hi,
This Beoworld thread and this web site show what is often needed to restore these turntables. Long term storage is not kind to audio equipment. They need regular use. New belts are for certain but there are likely other things.-sonavor
Hi..
OK great appreciate your advice.
Sounds like it's gonna be a nightmare...

Hi.
Wow ok will take that advice... there seems to be a big following of vintage hi fi in the states?
I shall definitely look into repairing it..too nice to leave gathering dust!
Thanks again.
Gary
best of luck I am restoring a beogram 4000 at the moment , take look at the beolover blog as well as the thread by sonavor you will also need a service manual too, start off clean all the switches (tarnished silver) and , check the voltage rails.

I would say all over the free world . If you look at the workshop and beogram repair threads on the Beoworld forum you will see that there are restorations of classic Bang & Olufsen equipment going on in numerous countries. The B&O pieces look great of course and when restored to proper working order, perform wonderfully. There are also certain classic, milestone units and the Beogram 4000 is one of them.
Ok will do thanks...
Wow.. appreciated, a wealth of information already
