That is the price of wanting to be more open to the costumers, I guess.

I wouldn't buy from that site, though :-(

(I did not pay much more, anyway.)

But - really - would you want the Play products to be exclusive - only available in B&O stores?

There is a tv - and there is a BV

Great question MM and being totally honest, I preferred it when B&O PLAY was first launched and they were more selective with nicer places selling their range - Selfridges, Harvey Nics, John Lewis. Now Argos and Very and even Sainsburys are selling it which I think is damaging because to me, its all about customer service from the sales associate when buying. For example Waitrose or the Apple store have offered me over the years, the most incredible customer service. The likes of Tesco were the opposite hence, I never set foot in there. Last week I bought a new washing machine and instantly offered it from the John Lewis website for the simple reason - excellent customer service!

Nice to see the B&O Facebook page has posted the GadgetMac review with the great photos that I posted last week.

I hope that there is not a rush for places to discount this lovely lil speaker. I feel that the A1 is simply incredible at £199. Some things just don't need discounting - TOM FORD fragrances for example.

As GadgetMac concludes... "we can highly recommend the BeoPlay A1 as the high-end ultra-portable speaker to get." :)

Nice Michael. As I've reported elsewhere I saw and heard one for the first time a couple if days ago. Fantastic product from both a sound and design point of view. I don't need one but I want one and will get one at some point soon.

Hi Duels

I didnt need one either but i was at the new Melbourne sensory store (so fresh you can smell the paint), and i saw it up there and thought yes i will.

At home it sounds better when you're  a few metres away.  I was playing Animals by Maroon 5 and Army of Me by Bjork and it filled the room easy.

I was running a national meeting today and the conference phone in the room wasn't working and i thought oh i could really do with an A1, so i know now i can use my iphone and do this!

They didnt have the stock and then rang me back as i placed an order  and paid in full for it along with the Kravdrat grey cover for my a9 (which i took with me), they called me an hour later and sourced one so i didnt have to wait.  yay.

Brilliant photos Michael :) I'm treating myself to one for my birthday. The A8 is being given to a friend for their house warming - I never got on with the dull sound and I felt wrong leaving it in a spare room just as a phone charger.

I feel with the A1, I have the perfect lil kitchen & bathroom speaker :) :) :) Rose gold / copper with black please B&O :)

That's a really nice looking cover Michael. My local dealer (Sheffield) have one on display and I love the texture and slight irregularities in the weave. That's the beauty of natural materials. Haven't got an A9 though so can't justify a cover Wink

I've ordered one for the office to connect to a MacMini via Bluetooth and then it can sit in the middle of the room on the table as a speaker and microphone for Google Hangouts etc.

Looking forward to setting it up when it arrives! Tempted to get 2 - to hang the walls either side of the meeting room when they're just being used as speakers. In fact, I wonder what happens if you have 2 paired for stereo and use the microphone(s)?

Just received mine in grey. It sounds amazing for such a small speaker! Much better than the A2 that I sold quickly and I find it somehow even better than my Beolit 15. It's less boomy but not as loud of course. It brings instantly smile on my face.

I also think it sounds better than the A2, however up close the A2 was a little better i thought but both are better when you're a few metres from it.

I love your man on the moon too - made a great photo.

What I don't get is the usb-c... Now I need to carry two cables when traveling. One for A1 and one for H8.

Regular micro-usb is more common.

But that is just my opinion.

Hi Leo,

I think B&O are being truly modern with the USB-C. I can use my MacBook Retina charger :) It's the newest product from B&O so I guess it's moving forward with more modern features hence USB-C.  I don't own anything with a micro USB thingy on it so it's all good to me :)

I see your point of view. But for almost everybody else that has not bought a new computer in the last year, it is the wrong choice. Micro-usb is the standard for mobile phones. Usb-c is good for data transfer, but everything else is still charging by micro-usb.

If it was delivers with a usb-c to usb-c charger it would be kind of understandable. But it has a usb-b to usb-c cable. A bit strange. But it is as you say, more future proof Smile

I think Leo that Apple must of thought that the industry would have moved over to USB-C more quickly that they currently are doing. Certainly, I remember the first iMac appearing with USB yay back in 98 and very very quickly, USB then became the norm. With the new MacBook Pro's due for release this June, i'm sure that this will be the year for USB-C. I love it its lil dinky size and of course, everything that USB-C is capable of doing!

I applaud B&O for their forward thinking - unusual for them - I think they have some new young staff on the PLAY team :)

PS Leo - nice photos and well done for buying a A1. It's very nice. I wonder if they copy the BeoLit 15 with its range of colours - i hope so. The blue would look nice on it and a black copper but sadly, I don't think that we'll see that.

By the way, what sounds a better Two A1s or a BeoLit 15? Maybe the A1s because of the stereo separation?

I would love to seethe Beolit 15 with the extra button (play from last source).

The beolit is better in soundstage, but A1 combo gives better separation. 2 Beolit 15's kicks ass ;)

All in all I am very satisfied with the stereo sound from the A1, and one A1 was perfect at work today out in the sun with the clients Smile

Comparison here of many of the Bluetooth speakers on the market again the A1. Apart from the more expensive Vifa (which really is great sounding) the A1 wins hands down!

My nine year old and I did 60 miles to Brighton last week with our cycling club and it was more comfortable weather. One of the young guys, to some peoples irritation, cycles with music. It helps with his stuttering. I nearly suggested the A1 to him as it'd be ideal but I think he'd bauble at the price.

Sounds amazing Simon. Thats a pretty route too. I worked at a radio station in Brighton a few years ago and absolutely loved the place, the people, the quirkiness. I remember a lot of interior shops with dark oak and baby blue Roberts radios :)

He's pretty fit. We just got back from the Herne Hill Velodrome!

He's straight back onto the DS thingy, with B&O headphones of course.

Does someone know exactly what "splash and dust resistant" mean?

I hardly believe that any amount of water on it will not break warranty..

Does it have an IP rating with reference to Splash or Dust ?

we tend to forget there is more to design than designing.

The A1 arrived for the office today. Amazing for use on video conference calls and everyone is blown away by the sound that comes out of it when playing music/movies through it. Absolutely amazing! Love it. Tempted to get a 2nd to pair for stereo and hang either side of the TV. What's the battery like if they're left on but not playing sound - anyone know?
