Hello beopeople

I am having my bathroom done up soon and a newly plastered ceiling

The walls will be tiled.

My house is pretty much NL only now.

What cables do you recommend I put in for the future maybe just mains and cat5 read for a future NL device ?

At least two cat 5.

Preferably a cat7 if you can get your hands on it

Use CAT.7  cables and stay away from the cheap CAT.5 cables. They miss the paired shielding which you may needed in some cases.

B&O recommends to use CAT.7 cables anyway.

Some years ago I did my flat with CAT.7 cables too and am very pleased with it.

100 Gb .... in a residential ... Wonderful .... Will you be an ISP? Which device needs the required 100 Gb?

Copying from PC to NAS and back goes 750-800 Mbps ... maximum of the NIC.

I think the recommendation for CAT 7 is more to do with the improved shielding than the potential 100gb bandwidth Stick out tongue

Actually that recommendation is probably a safe case for B&O. But you still have to mount Cat6a connectors to Cat7 cable, because the specified Cat7 connectors are specially designed for higher frequenties and not usable directly on B&O devices. But we deviate from the question, the bathroom.

I would suggest to place any type of network cable as long as you stay away from Cat5. Install at least one cable to the bathroom for future use.

Further more, take a good look at your wireless quality, do you have a decent signal in the bathroom. Not long ago people declared me crazy to hardwire because WiFi is the future, they say. Meanwhile, every average lunatic goes wirelessly with the most trivial equipment. Tasty interfere with each other, competed to see who has the best signal in the area and then cry you have a dredging signal in your own shack.

A wired network is always preferable and gives you a more assured connection to all devices. As long as B&O gives you the choice to hardwire their devices, use it.

As the cables can be used for analogue audio e.g. Masterlink cat7 is the best bet for installers in B&O setting?

This is what it's all about. It's because of the improved shielding ! Bandwidth doesn't matter in a B&O installation.

I use CAT.6a wall mounts and a CAT.6a patch panels in combination with CAT. 7 cables.

Get the best you can afford because you never know what future will bring.

In my installation I run powerlink, masterlink, ethernet, coax digital, analog, hdmi 1080p and even signals from the B&O ir-eye to the relevant devices without any problem at all.

Cheers all

I will run in two cat cables best I can and a mains cable just above the toilet furniture.

Now I just need an NL device for the bathroom

A new version of the beolab 2000 would be great as no need for a beosound 35 in such a small room

Still a bit big hey. I'd love an A2 sized multiroom device. Basically an Essence MKII with a built in speaker.

BeoVision Eclipse 55”, Beolab 18s, Beolab 19s, Beosound 1, Beoplay P2, H3, BeoRemote One IR, BeoRemote One BT, Beoplay S8, Beosound Essence MkII, BeoTime

Hi Chris

My thoughts exactly

I picked the A6 because it's the smallest MultiRoom device there is.

I don't need that much power in my bathroom at all.

If any of the fairies or sheep know something we don't about upcoming smaller MultiRoom devices do shout Big SmileBig Smile

What the Elephants did yesterday was to broadcast a playlist from our MacMini's iTunes via Bluetooth to her A2 in the FS room and WiFi/Wired to the sitting room's BL20s and the living/family room's BV8 ...

Only problem is BT wouldn't stretch to our bathrooms ... hence why I have placed our iPad1 with WiFi inside its A3 in that area.

I have a set of Beovox 1 speakers in the bathroom wall connected to a MCL2P which is connected to an Essence Mk2., both of which are stored in the loft above the bathroom

Works beautifully and sounds great in the bathroom

Same setup

Using iPod Touch wall mounted as remote (Beomusic, Hue)

What a great idea. Some simple bathroom speakers connected to a MCL2P all switched on and off with volume from an Essence MK2.

Could even go with IR and a Beoremote 1 on the wall.
