I have a BV7-55 with BL7-4, BL20, and BL12-3. In another room I have a BV10-40 with BL1 and BL6000.
The BV7 has a an Oppo Bluray player connected as well as an Apple TV. I use it for watching movies.
I also have satellite boxes connected to both and watch live TV on both.
My question is for some reason when I watch live TV, the sound, or perhaps more accurately the surround sound, is much better with the BV10 and it's speakers than with the BV7-55 and it's speakers. I have checked the settings on the satellite boxes and it looks like everything is set the same.
I have been trying to decide if the newer sound processor in the BV10 is the reason for the much better sound? And if so, would the even newer sound processor of the BV14, which I think looks beautiful, be even better and thus improve the sound from my BL20s and 12-3s if I replaced the BV7-55.
Thanks!

Hi
Start by checking wich format is being used by the TVs... Options/Sound/Sound system.
'A much better sound' is a very personal matter!
Assuming all settings in the connected boxes and tv's are equal - maybe what you notice is the difference!
And you seem to like the sound from one setup more than what comes from the other.
If you really wanted to know, you would have to have to have a similar speaker setup with both - alternating.
And you would have to take account for the influences of the different rooms, where your setups are, too.
I am sure, that the sound from both setups is superb and very enjoyable - each in their way.
However, with the sound engine in the new BV's (including BV14 and Horizon) you would have a lot more possibilities to tweak the sound to fit your speakers, your respective room and your own preferences than with what you get from both the BV7 and the BV10 sound platform.

There is a tv - and there is a BV
Thanks. They both match. Nothing different between the two.
BEOVOX141: Hi Start by checking wich format is being used by the TVs... Options/Sound/Sound system.
Sorry for duplicate post. Forgot to put quote I was responding to in post and can't edit message on Apple.
They both match. Each shows the same thing.

Thanks! Makes me want a new BV14 even more than I already did. I see that it has a microphone sound calibration option but I can't find anything about it in the BV14 user guide online. Is this a new feature or is it available on the BV 11 and/or Avant? Any opinions as to how well it works?

Thanks! .....(Sorry for the periods and extra words...apparently can not post a post that says merely Thanks as it is considered a duplicate)

I was kind of expecting that..
But exactly what is coming in and what is being sent out (format)?
You have two VERY different scenarios, one has a center the other on doesn't!
Razlaw:Both systems have a center. BV 10 speakers are center and BV7 has a BL7-4 as center.
BeoNut since '75
None the less - Razlaw seems to like the overall sound from his BV10 better.
Razlaw:To clarify, the best sound is from the BV7 when with a Bluray or Apple TV.
As it should be!
Now we just need to figure out why sound from the dish isn't properly decoded!
Start by telling what the options/sound/sound system says (picture ?). The input format / output format including speaker mode!
The BV 10 can only EMULATE a center speaker, whereas the BV 7 has a TRUE dedicated center, right there,- your BV 7 setup already is ahead!
Both TVs have the settings set the same.
And both satellite boxes have the settings set the same.
