Yep still having problems with Playlists not loading.

Have sent an email to Spotify to ask for an update as it's now 2 months since the problem seemed to surface.

 same problems overhere....

I wonder if this has something to do with Spotify no longer supporting windows XP...
It just stalls some time when you are using  the playlists. I think it is a bit better then a month ago but it still stalls which is annoying

It  was a very very stupid idea from B&O to use windows XP embedded.
Although the BM5/BS5 is stable these days (except for the Spotify part....). The systyem reboots itself after a couple of days ( a way of keeping it stable I guess...)
They should have gone for Linux, much more stable and you do not need to reboot every 3 days ... ;-) + easier support for the coming years.

It's a pity  that software is now determining the age of a product and not the hardware...
The BM5/BS5 is not even 7 years old...
Maybe B&O should propose an upgrade price to the Moment for BM5/BS5 owners .... ;-)

Greetings

I  also am now having problems with Spotify on my Beosound 5.

None of the functions appear to work and I receive a message stating  "LOADING". Nothing seems to load despite waiting 10 -15 minutes.

I have rebooted the unit several times via the beomaster.

I have logged out of spotify on my laptop and desktop.

I have deleted my spotify account and reinstalled on the beomaster 5 and still it doesn't work.

Up until about a week ago it worked perfectly fine.

My local dealer seems to know nothing of the issue and thinks it may be a 'wifi' issue. Given it is hard wired to the modem and NRADIO works fine, that certainly isn't the issue.

Any suggestions?

David

Hi David. Have you deleted the Spotify produced playlists such as discover weekly? This seems to have worked for others including myself.

Hi Duels

Thanks for the reply.

I did as you suggested and unfollowed 'discover weekly'. This gave me a little more functionality however i still dont have all functions restored. For example i cant seem to use the search function anymore for a particular artist.. i just receive a 'loading' message which goes on forever , the whole unit then freezes and i have to reboot from the power again.

I must say i have had nothing but problems with my bang and olufsen sound systems... software after software problems... sometimes I wonder if it wouldn't be easier to just use an iPad- not as sexy but far more functional :(

I would upgrade to a moment only when they use the same materials.

No plastic,no cheap chinees tablet

B&O make it 1000 euro more expensive and use real materials!

I had the same problem and deleting all the Spotify generated playlists (but keeping the ones i made manually), fixed the issue.

This system is becoming the biggest disappointment in my life... ;-)

I still cannot delete 'daily mix'.. I cannot see anyway to do it?  I even went to Spotify help desk and they said it is not possible to delete.

I 'unfollowed' discover weekly and radar but cannot delete daily mix. How have others done this?

Some functionality returned after unfollowing discover weekly but not all functionality returned.

Any further suggestions?

Have been back to Spotify & B&O about this.

Spotify replied yesterday that they have their top technicians working on this and hope to have a fix soon.

Not holding my breath as it's been going since Dec 2016

I gave up and packed my BS 5 away, saved myself from the anger and disappointment. I've decided to move my 1968 BM5000 to center stage, at least it works with Spotify. My next new adventure is the Avant NG.

Common B&O were still burning our money on you and remain faithful hoping that you will sort out the issues, now give it hell and give us reasons to smile again.

Oh and Spotify slowly but surely we're losing patience too. Ghee wiz people pls get this going for fellow friends on here. I'm sure Netflix marketers and lawyers are bargaining how to make a quick buck on unassuming B&O too. Beware of the wolves!

I got the same message.

Positive: they send a message: Spotify Premium is required for this device

Other side: This is really a shame. I have Spotify Premium

B&O and Spotify are definitly not in control or they are screwing their customers.

My advice for future customers: do not trust your B&O dealer. In the end you will get screwed by B&O.

All promises are fake,

Contact Spotify as well, I´ve done that to their helpdesk since they only have mentioned that they would remove the function from Bang&Olufsens televisons but the sound system should continue to work including Beosound 5.

I claimed that my premium account doesn't´work anymore.

We should not blame B&O here it's Spotify you should blame that close down the service that have been running on their system side, they call it an improvement in the usability to close down the system Beosound 5 have interfaces with.

So ask Spotify for an explanation why you are forced to buy new hardware that will never work so integrated as the solution we have had or as you say invest in a complete new system setup... What an improvement for their customer...

Mail them at office@spotify.com

Got this message from B&O

"As part of Spotify’s strategy to focus on their own mobile app experience, Spotify has decided to discontinue and remove the embedded Spotify client from your BeoSound 5.

This decision does not only affect Bang & Olufsen products but also products from other brands. As this is a Spotify decision, Spotify has informed you directly via e-mail.

Please contact Spotify for further information about this decision.

Sorry, but we bought the beosound5 at b&o with the Spotify features – so b&o have to care!

For me it sound like a license fee problem between spotify and b&o. what’s next? No deezer on the beosound moment? How long will this work?

I think b&o has now (only with a good support!) this options:

-       pay license fee to Spotify and find a solution.

-       softwareupdate to integrate Spotify connect to beosound5

-       softwareupdate to integrate deezer to beosound5

-       swap offer to upgrade to the moment (inkl. Nl/ml converter if needed)

-       reduced price of a beosound essence for beosound5 costumer

but I think this all not gonna happened.

I got this answer from spotify in Dutch: it says they are removing the spotify app from (all) Bang &Olufsen devices to "improve the spotify-experience".

Fijne dag toegewenst,

Peter

Found this information on Spotify´s development site

"Important! LibSpotify and CocoaLibSpotify are no longer under active development on any platform and are considered deprecated. If you are building applications for iOS or Android, please use the iOS SDK or Android SDK. We hope to be able to provide you with a new library for other platforms.

Until then, you can request new keys for use with existing projects built on libspotify, such as home media center plugins. If we decide to issue a key for your purpose, you will receive it via email. Please note that we don’t have an estimated timeline for this process. Please be aware that we cannot offer active support or guarantee future functionality on LibSpotify or CocoaLibSpotify.

LibSpotify and CocoaLibspotify Downloads

Please note that we have removed the LibSpotify binaries from our website in an effort to phase out the usage of this deprecated library. LibSpotify has been considered deprecated since 2015 and will be shut down in 2017, so we want to ensure that all developers’ efforts and attention are focused on newer and better APIs that we actively support and maintain. These APIs include the Web API, iOS and Android SDKs, and upcoming embedded libraries for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. More information regarding upcoming libraries will be provided in the coming months."
So this information have been known since 2015 by developer that the API that Spotify now have killed have been removed from Spotify´s side already 2015 and their hope to replace it with a new api for other operating systems than Android, iOS and Web have never become reality....  So this is probably one of the reason why we never saw Spotify in Moment since B&O already know at that time that Spotify was to become a dead end....

I've heard from a local B&O dealer, that B&O is busy with testing some new software for the BS5.

That was 2 months ago, he had a BS5 with the Beta-version running, but could not (not allowed to) tell me more about the changes.

Fingers crossed, hope good news will follow soon.

Prices of BS5 systems are  dropping verry hard. A secondlife dealer only gives me 600-650 euro's for my BS5 system

Well a least we do not have to worry about Spotify anymore since the new hip B&O has been so "kind" to remove it. They have downgraded the beosound 5 system and as compensation they offer a discount on a new system.

This is in my opinion shameful! How can they think that I even would concider to buy a new B&O system after this? Are they high or just plain stupid?

Don't know...

Maybe they completly want to change over to another music streaming service, for example Deezer.

Anyway, hope to hear soon, because this won't do good. Not for BS5 owners, but aswell for B&O itselfs.

Many people start complaining now, that is no good for their image!

Do they even care? It's the same for the support of Airplay 2 or not... Many brands announced that they will support it (or not) on their old audio systems. B&O stays silent! Sad Angry Lightning

Sorry, but I do not understand this Spotify issue. The BS5 was/is a Netradio player and a DLNA media player. The Spotify functionality was introduced much later and more over it never had the complete Spotify experience.

The point why I sold my BS5 was the support of Windows XP Embedded. This ended beginning last year. But everybody do seem Spotify more important!

advice: use the BS5 without connection to the www, at least as little as possible or be sure the have your security covered! you do not "wannecry"
