I had the number 3 this evening ;-)

MM how far is Copenhagen from Flensborg? Lucky you being at the heart of B&O...

I really like the lamps hanging from the ceiling in that bar!

Struer is nearer than that ;-)

I like so many kind of beer. But actually to say, it is not supply to me. Since I don't like beer, wine is my favorite.

It's 28 degrees and the start of a long weekend in the U.K. I'm off to the pub in 7 minutes.

I was talking with a group of guys from England and they said the English pubs are dying due to the smoking ban. Is this true?

Hmmm. The number of pubs has definitely declined in recent years but there are still many tens of thousands of pubs left. It's due to a number of factors but I don't see smoking being the main reason. In fact I know several women who will now happily go to pubs because they don't smell of smoke.

This trend will probably continue for a while but there will always be loads and loads of pubs.

As Kiran said people just go outside and there has been a boom in outdoor covered gazebo type constructions.

Drinking habits have changed and bars and restaurants have replaced some of the pubs. People are drinking more quality beer in particular at home. Recently the craft ale revolution (which has only hit the mainstream here about three years ago believe it or not) has also led to a number of quirky specialist ale houses springing up. You'll know the sort of place Peter.

It's just progress and evolution. But we will always have enough pubs to go around.

Finland has had a complete ban on smoking in restaurants and bars for almost exactly 10 years now (with the exception of completely sealed smoking areas, where you are not allowed to drink nor eat - very few establishments have built them). Before that, I can remember the chain smokers swearing they will never step foot in another bar again if that law is enforced, but of course none of that happened. I for one am extremely happy that I can spend some time in a bar without a killer headache and having to throw away all the clothes the next morning.

You can get it on the Mikkeller website. There was actually another thread about this a week or two ago.

Maybe this is what the monks have been doing for centuries ...... infusing their beer with a few gregorian chants.

From left to right

• Blonde

• White

• Red fruits flavored (the nicest of the three)

Drunk with mussels cooked with white wine and cream, served with French fries Smile

All three were nice, as expected (not more).

And "Cervoise" (traditional barley beer?) tonight with oysters, shrimps... Embarrassed (much more... "raw" than the Grimbergen, and nice too)

It's excellent!  I am the kind of guy that likes beer that you can't see through, so I love a good porter or stout.  I am also a fan of smokey scotches so the smoked aspect of this porter is fantastic to me.  It was made by a local Atlanta brewery called Sweetwater.  The Dank Tank series is a limited production they do once a year and every year the beer is different.  This one was one of my favorites, which is sad due to the fact that production of this beer is now over, but I am excited to see what Dank Tank they come up with next year!
