Went to Athens with the GF last month. One of the attractions we hadn't covered on earlier trips was Strefi Hill. Apparently it was a great park some years ago until the city run out of money to maintain irrigation etc. Now it had great views but seemed quite deserted otherwise. It was a nice climb at relentless sunshine and ~38°C.

Anyway, on the way down we were pretty spent, but at the edge of the park we came across a bar that apparently wakes up at night. It seemed closed - there were no customers, just a barkeep with some of his friends. We went in and as I ordered "any beer", the barkeep recommended this. Something from a local microbrewery called Athineo. I don't even remember which one of their beers it was - amber lager perhaps - but it was really really good.

A strawberry blonde ale called "I love you will you marry me". I'm drinking this alone in case anybody gets the wrong idea and says "yes". Mind you, I do like strawberries and I do like blondes....

Just visited what has just become my favorite supermarket ever!! Big Smile

I don't know what you can find in an ordinary supermarket where you live. In Italy it is not so common to find certain products in a supermarket. Or maybe it was not, till today! ;-)

Those are good beers. The supermarkets in the UK have recently really improved their ranges of interesting beers. You would be impressed!

I prefer "Antipasti, friends and beer" than "Blood, sweat and beer"...

Which will soon becomes "Dolce vita, lake and beer" Time Isn't it Paolo ? (at least, I hope Unsure )

BeerLovers in Liege, Belgium. They have 200 beers on bottle and 20 on tap, served in 20cl glasses. So you can taste a couple before getting really drunk!

It is a good idea.

Brewdog serve their draft beers in their bars in glasses which get smaller the stronger the beer. So a pint for anything up to 6%. Two thirds of a pint for say 6-7%, half pints etc and then a third of a pint (19 cl approx) for the strongest stuff. Keeps each drink roughly similar in terms of overall alcohol. It works well.
