Yes, I go past Surly on my way to and from work everyday. So many great beers. If you ever get the chance to try Surly Darkness you should! Peter-

Iā€™ve not come across it but if I do Iā€™ll definitely give it a try.

Sitting at home listening to an audiobook and drinking this double stout. Fair State Co-op, Giantsbane. Not a typical stout with 50 IBUs.

Is it a strong grapefruit infusion?

Yes it is Peter. Itā€™s an IPA at heart but citrusy and slightly sour.

Blonde on blonde. Absolutely gorgeous concoction of blonde beer and citrus hop flavours. And itā€™s 7.4%.

Last night ... nieceā€™s 21st ... local suburb (Moorabin, whoā€™d have thought it) draft beer called ā€œTwo Brothersā€. Nice enough to have two pints.

The coaster is an unrelated bonus - I snaffled it Big Smile

I wonder if our IBUs are different in the USA? This is my ā€œgo to beerā€ I could drink everyday. Summit Saga at 80 IBUs.

Or maybe Iā€™ve damaged the bitterness receptors on my tongue?

.To be honest itā€™s a good question. IBUs donā€™t seem to enter into discussion that much although I do like a bitter beer.

You should try Brewdogā€™s Jackhammer. Theoretically 200 IBUs if the scale went that high.

Definitely spicy, maybe the the most heat I have encountered in a beer. Very good though. It's a heavy stout too. I had it with some Mellow Mushroom pizza and it was like the heat from the beer was tricking my taste buds into thinking that the pizza was spicy. Very interesting brew!
