BeoFrederic:

Hi CB:

Yes, and yes. The brewer recommends aging in the bottle. The smoke flavor changes considerably over the years, as does the beer as a whole.

Excellent. Thirteen years is a long time for beer. I assume this is pretty strong stuff!

Excellent. Thirteen years is a long time for beer. I assume this is pretty strong stuff!

It’s bottled at 6.5% abv, so not that strong.  The yeast keep chugging over the years, however, and the alcohol become more prominent.  Like a barley wine after a while.

As for strong favor, I prefer a smoked porter to, say, a rauchbier.  Also, the smokiness oscillates over the years: first really strong, then less so, then more so again, etc.  It’s not subtle.  An adventure in a bottle.  🍺

...and for what it’s worth, my BL8000s are much older than the beer, and are still cooking!

Here is a Vienna lager, the Wiener.

This little brewery “reopened” in the small space of an 1850’s German immigrant brewery here in St Paul. They try to recreate the original 1850s feel with wood burning heat, old tables and traditional German beer of the time.

It’s very good. Nice big bottle to share with a friend.

Distinctive but soft flavours.

Wow. Deep and intense. Thick mouth feel with flavors of molasses and raw vanilla beans. A bit boozy as well. I love it, however at $12.99 per bottle it will be a very special occasion beer from now on. Definitely worth it to try it once though...

I've been focusing on German/Czech style beer brewed locally here. This is a Tmave Pivo, dark lager.

Does the buckwheat make this a gluten-free beer? Is "gluten-free" popular in France?

And I'm not aware enough about gluten free food to answer your second question, sorry Unsure
