With the new Home app on your idevice do any forum members use Apple Home Kit enabled products?

I have Philips Hue in a number of rooms, but I can't see any other products that are Home Kit enabled.

I see Belkin and Panasonic have their own systems and these may not be Apple Home Kit enabled?

Does anyone have any issues with the Home app when trying the setting whereby when you are coming home and enter your wifi network and the lights (should) come on? It doesn't seem to work for me.

Thanks in advance

I was excited when I upgraded my Hue bridge for Apple Homekit. That excitement quickly turned to frustration. There were HUGE problems for the early adopters and it didn't work. Apple blamed Hue and Hue blamed Apple. It took weeks for them to sort it out. Then, I found that there were big limitations on how many lights could be controlled at a given time with Homekit. Bottom line is that I just don't use it. I find that BLGW, Echo, and IFTTT satisfy all of my needs much better than Homekit.

A problem here is that Apple requires major processing demands for the Homekit encryption. This would not work with too many products. Also, Homekit does not allow devices with Homekit to bridge macros with other systems that are not Homekit certified. This runs totally contrary to what the BLGW does in bridging multiple systems.

Hi BJ

Thanks for replying.

Lucky I haven't had any issues with mine so far.

I received an email from IFTTT with scenes for Philips Hue, but what is it exactly?

Thank you kiindly.

Even without the BLGW you can incorporate some Hue actions into IFTTT. So if you have another device that's compatible with IFTTT, you can create macros with them by using IFTTT to link them together by way of an IFTTT "recipe."

Some devices, such as the Amazon Echo even support Hue natively without the need for IFTTT.

I just really like the flexibility and control that you can get with the BLGW. Therefore, I create IFTTT recipes with the BLGW to link all systems together.

Yep, we have our porch light set to turn off at sunrise, and turn on at sunset automagically with an IFTTT recipe. Set it and forget it.

Some interesting uses with IFTTT and Hue are lights flashing a specific color if your home sports team wins a game or scores a goal. Admittedly, I'm not every creative.

I have an IFTTT recipe that I use every morning: While still tucked in bed and with my eyes closed I say "Alexa, trigger morning." The Echo Dot on the nightstand hears me and sends the command to IFTTT. IFTTT sends the command to the BLGW. The BLGW activates a macro that turns on my hue lights to a specific light scene of gentle blues and purples, turns on the tv, sets the tv to the morning news, and starts coffee brewing in the kitchen.

Doing the same here

Except Lutron.. minus the coffee

I use Alexa regularly. Direct Lutron connection is coming.

I think B&O will follow suit soon with Alexa. She's in everything.. wouldn't surprise me if they add Alexa to TVs before long.

Or should B&O invest their R&D €s in this market ?

Forget about Home Kits.Better use that money to buy flowers to your wife,on a regular basis.Just tell her what you want, she can turn on/off anything you like, and you don't like.Of course, there are occasional communication breakdowns, mostly affected by the moon phase...In such case, show some patience, reset ,and back to normal.
