Sjengie:also has anybody succeeded connecting a wireless speaker like the new beosound 1? it is supposed to be one of the features but we are waiting patiently
I am sure, that he means connect using NL in order to 'see' and use the sources of the BS1 on the tv and vice versa.
It is not possible to use the BS1 as a rear speaker.

There is a tv - and there is a BV
Lots of bugs, even after the update of 31 January. This evening, I experienced two occurrences of the TV shutting itself down and rebooting through the 'Android' screen, via the grey 'Location' screen and the Apple TV screen saver. Also, various pop-up messages for no apparent reason. The new BBC iPlayer App is slow to start up, too, the Guide is still slow to build and various functions that should be smooth are jerky, such as the shut-down curtains. Not impressed!

However there is progress. The picture quality is better (and the side effects of the picture processing are much less). Stability issues are less. At least my Beoremote One BT has not lost connection since the update. However, we are not there yet (bass management, bug in programmable in buttons, Android pop ups every now and then, ....).
6 days in and SW issues continues :-( - recorded Super Bowl on external HDD, but despite I have reported this issue earlier to B&O, then the recording stopped after 40 min. The Horizon shows that 5hrs recording is done, but playback not possible. Other bugs also found, and I think it's time to return it to the dealer.

This morning the first complete Android crash since the update was installed. But at least my Beoremote One BT has not lost connection anymore.
Chris Townsend:The LG based TVs can't come soon enough. A debacle
I wonder if anyone has considered how much this has actually damaged the brand and the brand value? If that was my work place someones heads would have rolled and likely the department
1st post update crash.
Yesterday evening.. was watching TV.. Out of the blue the electronic curtain closes, speakers are turned off; green light on top of the turns on. TV does not respond to remote.
Unplugged the TV from the mains for 30min; plugged it back in.. blinking red light (normal after power has been cut).. At first TV is unresponsive to the remote... After a couple of times pressing the TV/Telenet (my settopbox) the TV is responding; could enter my pin-code and TV turns on, speakers turn on...
*oeps*

No joking, but this is really an awful period for B&O and its dealers.
Colliding with massive software problems, less good quality control on TVs. The list build up...
Been last week a couple of hours at my dealers shop and he spend about one hour answering call's from customer(s) who had problems with the install of a sound or tv product they had bought.
And if this is still not enough. With Broadband providers who install their wireless routers somewhere at the far end end of your house, dealers has to assist customers on a lot of problems depending on bad wireless coverage.

THAT is a major problem for dealers! Basicly the dealers today are squized between the software problems and network problems. Both of which they have not control at all :-( :-(
Anyway... forwarded my crash of last night to BeoCare with my dealer in CC knowing that he can't do anything about it except additional pressure on Struer..
That's what you get when you move your development to India - clear example with new BVs and Moment.

If I'm not mistaken then the software for the BV is (partially?) developed in Belgium (TP Vision)
To my knowledge no, TPVision provides HW and essentials, but custom BNO part is done in India.
There is no 'development' in India.
B&O used (probably no more) software engineers in India to write the codes after the 'job' was done in Struer.
That is a time consuming task and was probably cheaper done in India.

No matter where the software is developed, it remains the responsibility of the B&O Project Manager and their Quality Assurance team to ensure the software meets minimum standards and is "Fit for Purpose"
All software will have bugs, BUT all the basic functions and usability must be "Fit for Purpose" which clearly the previous and this update are not.

Do we know yet how the backlight works on the new models? Is it just a one - global zone backlight on the new Avant 55?
Beolab 50, Beolab 8000 x 2, Beolab 4000 x 2, BeoSound Core, BeoSound 9000, BeoSound Century, BeoLit 15, BeoPlay A1, BeoPlay P2, BeoPlay H9 3rd Gen, BeoPlay H6, EarSet 3i, BeoVision Eclipse Gen 2 55", BeoPlay V1-40, BeoCom 6000 and so much else :)
isn't it the same panel as the BV14-55? i.e. back lit with global dimming?
much as i wasnt wowed by the PQ initially, things have definitely got better with the update.......still stability issues, which have been well documented.....

You are quite right, of cource!
My post was just to state, that these things aren't 'developed' somewhere in the wild - but in Struer.
As I have understood it, there has been a change there - more of the SW-coding is now done in DK/Struer.
It is much easier to handle the 'problems', then.
I would not expect wonders yet, though - they have plenty of 'quality problems' to deal with for time being.
There's no point in arguing about something you don't know. BNO uses outsourcing, some of the components are done in Struer, some major parts in India.

Bottom line.. the Quality Controle & Testing well below B&O's standards
If the software was developed in India it would most probably work a lot better seeing as that is the global hotspot for talented programmers.
B&O products are V1-32, BS2, H95, E8 and an Essence remote.11-46 now replaced with Sony A90J 65”, Sony HT-A9, Sony UBP-X800M2 and Sony SRS-NS7.
Actually, programmers there may be talented but nevertheless it often appears that the outsourcing does not work and not only B&O is an example. Maybe, communication is an issue somehow.
You seem to know!
Tell us more, then.
Beovision Horizon returned now to my local dealer. They really tried to give me a great offer on BV11, respect for that and giving full refund after 6 months. But the price and the outdated technology vs. what I could get in an recent LG OLED was not comparable. Ended up with an M5, H9 and an awesome LG OLED. Never Android again, that's for sure.
Hopefully looking forward to a software update (maybe 10th week according to my dealer) I still consider a BeoVison Horizon 48" ...
@CarJen, enjoy your LG OLED. I had a curved one before I switched back to B&O.
I still love the sight of my Horizon, it is gorgeous to look at whether it is switched on or off. It is a beauty.
Picture quality has improved significantly with the last update, more black than blue but it will never be OLED quality.
I have less bugs, so i guess we are moving in the right direction.

Shame, but I understand your decision as I am faced with the same choice and also find myself drawn more to an LG OLED. I don't know whether to wait until later in the year to see if B&O bring out an OLED or to just go ahead and buy the LG. I can leave it a few more months as I am completing on a new property so not ready quite yet, but it is frustrating not to have an easy decision to just go with B&O. If there is a 30% price reduction, as suggested in another thread for the next B&O tv then that could definitely sway my decision, assuming it works that is!
Sjengie:@CarJen, enjoy your LG OLED. I had a curved one before I switched back to B&O.
What made you switch back?
Just to add my experience to the the comments. The BV14-55 was installed mid January and my main problems with the old software were poor PUC control and flaky Beoremote1 connection with the TV. Since the 31st Jan update everything has improved and the TV now works well. Mine is a relatively simple installation with just Sky+HD, a Panasonic 4K DVD and a 5.0 speaker group (BL5 + BL6000). The picture itself is wonderful and looking forward to SkyQ for some more 4K input.
Best wishes
@BAND'OH!, It came down to quality assurance, honestly. I saw the 31JAN release note they put out, and found that only three of the 14 SW bugs i have found and spend time on reporting were fixed in the 31JAN release. I know they receive feedback globally, but it was fairly disappointing to see, so i lost faith in them after 6 months of frustration, that they would deliver the quality they try to sell their Customers.
I ended up with i had bought a tv, which looks awesome HW-wise, but was crap SW-wise. It just seems like B&O spend all the R&D budget on design and HW, and suddenly realised that they better put in some SW as well, and quickly threw in cheap beta Android SW that would never have passed QA in B&O 10 years ago. Also, i really wanted to try OLED, so at the end the jump easy for me - but still would love to have a fully functional BV - with OLED and no Android SW :-)
My local dealer were also very straightforward saying that the SW not were B&O's biggest success and that dealers were very frustrated with the arrogance from HQ that they basically gave nothing to the dealers to heal the pain to the Customers. I am a recurring Customer at my local dealer, so it was his decision to take back the tv, not B&O HQ.....
My Horizon will be switched for a brand new one. If the new one has the same strange issues, there is a big change that the software is to blame. If not, there has been a hardware issue in my Horizon as well.
New to the forum but was looking for help and saw your post. We got a Horizon just before Christmas. initially pleased but did think the android system very poor and sluggish (to say the least).
Some things were bugging me from the start - like how sluggish everything was, from changing channels, to starting up apps, to getting into recordings - but thought as we were new to smart TV's, this was standard. An irritation I could live with I thought.
One major bug was that when recording TV shows on the external hard drive I bought (was a good quality USB 3.0 high speed WD 1TB type), when playing back anything recorded in HD, the picture would occasionally jump - as if the HD quality was too much to write to the hard drive. This I assumed as it doesn't happen when I record TV shows from non HD channels.
Now the latest bug the TV has developed is the sound cutting off when switching TV channels. Just no sound at all. Just picture. I have to turn off the TV and turn back on to get the sound back for the channel I want to watch. Anyone else had this problem bug?
i've had my new tv (bv14) for a few months now.....the sound disappearing issue was happening quite a bit to me......has occurred since the big SW update , though much less so......since the update i've had crashing issues, and in a similar way to the previous sound issue, seems to be triggered / caused by the interaction between the remote and the tv.......shame, especially as the picture quality has got much better since the update.....
I've since posting my post(!) had a chat with the B&O shop and the sound cutting out is a known issue apparently (!?) that should hopefully be rectified in the week 10 OS update - (currently in week 8 so not long to wait).
I might try a reboot tonight - just for fun !
