I'm intrigued by the little Tyco antenna for our V1 which the dealer left with no explanation after the install of our V1. Has anybody used theirs ?

Michael: I believe they first didn't want to sell all v1 with wifi and all, but they did (except for fitting satellite receiver in all of them)

Fitting a wifi receiver inside a metal cabinet could be problematic.
With the external antenna you have the options of placing it behind the connection cover - if the signal is strong enough - or outside, if needed.

I've never had any kind of problems with mine, and havn't used anything else. The connection seems solid :) But that being said it don't use it for anything else than updating the V1, and before I got the ATV4 I used it for Youtube. The smart tv experience is lack luster on every TV I've experienced, so the internet connection is rarely used by the TV it self. My ATV4 on the other hand uses the internet all the time, but that's using it's own wifi antenna.

Well said and same here. I have my ATV in the V1 too (it´s a third gen) and it is also running on wifi at the moment. No issues whatsoever for my part. Since the compartment is plastic they should just have integrated the wifi antenna in that part. Now it takes up some space in a quite bad way. Antennas isn't as big as the big black plastic so it would have saved space.
Thanks for your positive feedback everybody.
Michael:Just buy one of these and configure it with a computer to be in client mode. It’s super cheap and smaller than the antenna bundled with the V1. And probably also faster. And super cheap at about 20 euro.https://www.tp-link.com/us/home-networking/wifi-router/tl-wr802n/It can be powered by one of the USB ports in the tv.
StKong:thanks! This is excellent, Michael! I was looking for a solution, but couldn’t find the perfect alternative. This was a great help. I will order one right away!
