I'm intrigued by the little Tyco antenna for our V1 which the dealer left with no explanation after the install of our V1. Has anybody used theirs ?

No - it is still in the box - my V1 is hardwired to my network.

Didn't use it the first years. But now since December (because I'm lazy) I even have an Ethernet port just behind it so I should use a cable. Works better for features like sharing sound from another tv. Besides that it's flawless. It's inside the plastic compartment. A strange design. Surely most people would not install it outside the cabinet, it's ugly.

I believe they first didn't want to sell all v1 with wifi and all, but they did (except for fitting satellite receiver in all of them)

I have no choice but to use it since I have the V1-40 in the kitchen which is in a lower level.. and never had any wifi issues..

Beovision 11-55, BeoPlay V1 40, Beosound 9000, Beolab 8000's and 3 Beocom 5's... Smile

Fitting a wifi receiver inside a metal cabinet could be problematic.

With the external antenna you have the options of placing it behind the connection cover - if the signal is strong enough - or outside, if needed.

You halfquoted me. But I know this, of course. And the compartment is covered by plastic. That's why it works perfectly for me. I was just adding my experience of the device.

I've never had any kind of problems with mine, and havn't used anything else. The connection seems solid :)  But that being said it don't use it for anything else than updating the V1, and before I got the ATV4 I used it for Youtube.

The smart tv experience is lack luster on every TV I've experienced, so the internet connection is rarely used by the TV it self. My ATV4 on the other hand uses the internet all the time, but that's using it's own wifi antenna.

Beovision Eclipse gen2 (GX) w/ floorstand, Beolab 14.2, 4 speaker Shape and ATV4/Chromecast.

Well said and same here. I have my ATV in the V1 too (it´s a third gen) and it is also running on wifi at the moment. No issues whatsoever for my part. Since the compartment is plastic they should just have integrated the wifi antenna in that part. Now it takes up some space in a quite bad way. Antennas isn't as big as the big black plastic so it would have saved space.

Would anyone have a WIFI TYCO receiver for the Beoplay V1 they are not using and willing to sell? In Denmark or elsewhere!

Would be much appreciated. đź’Ş

Just buy one of these and configure it with a computer to be in client mode. It’s super cheap and smaller than the antenna bundled with the V1. And probably also faster. And super cheap at about 20 euro.

https://www.tp-link.com/us/home-networking/wifi-router/tl-wr802n/

It can be powered by one of the USB ports in the tv.

Smile thanks! This is excellent, Michael! I was looking for a solution, but couldn’t find the perfect alternative. This was a great help.

Glad to be of help :). I haven’t tried it with the V1 but have used them many times for desktop computers and other AV solutions and it’s been working well in all situations.
